I want to load an XML file and access one node value. I decided to store it in a variable(var addedNumber).

PHP Code:

var XMLLoader:URLLoader;

Global Security Settings For New Location

Dec 4, 2009

I have created an swf that manages to get all urls assigned to the buttons. When I publish the file I set the global security to allow that file to work and all links work. My question is when I transferred the html and swf to a new pc none of the buttons worked I was not even given an option to update global security settings by adding a new location. If I was to load this swf to an ftp media server is that the location I need to allow and can I only do this from the original PC where the file was created as transferring it seemed to make the buttons not do anything.

Global Security Manager In Flex?

May 31, 2010

I made a swf that interacts with other site on the internet (which has a crossdomainfile for me).in the main.mxml there is a definition of webservice (mx:WebService)(which is not in my domain). Therefore when loading the swf, there is a first call to crossdomainfile.xml.I put this swf on my server so that my clients can get it.

When i connect to my server to download the swf, i expect to be asked if i want to allow the swf connect to foreign webservice domain.Do i always need to define exception in Global Security Settings panel?I don't want my client do define special things..Is there a best practice for that? Why when i surfing the net other swf can do this? I read about the FlashPlayerTrust, can i define there a website i trust my swf will connect to?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Avoid Showing Local Storage Dialoge Box For SharedObject?

Nov 17, 2010

I'm doing a small webapp where I want to use a fairly small amount of Local Storage for SharedObjects.The challenge is to cater to all visitors, including those that might have turned down their local storage allowance to 0 bytes (inactivated).Now, what happens is that the first flush method call triggers the local storage dialog box.In the case that the user has inactivated local storage, I don't want to ask them to raise it - instead I want to avoid using SharedObjects for the remainder of the session.I haven't found a way to test for the capacity of the local storage. What I can find is the size property of the SharedObject class. This doesn't work however as it only reports a size greater than 0 if there has already been an object written to this application domain.

AS3 :: Xml - Flash Global Security Settings - Programmatically

Sep 11, 2011

In my application I am accessing a XML file which is in the same location as the fla, yet I have to add my folder location to the Flash Global security settings in order to avoid that infamous Security violation that is thrown. Thats fine in my development environment, however when deployed on a customer's machine they have the same issue. Is there a way programmatically to to trust the xml file and avoid the security violation? NOTE the customer is accessing the swf in 2 ways through a .NET loading mechanism and 2. opening the file location in a web browser (NOT in a we page but opening the swf directly - YES I know this is not recommended - but nevertheless is the customer's preference)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Skin Or Style Flash Player's Security Panel?

Oct 25, 2011

Problem: Users of our web app are complaining how hard it is to get past Flash Player's Security Panel when they want to make video calls.  (Personally, I don't see why it's hard.)   We tried several things to guide them through the process, including callouts pointing to the Security Panel area with specific instructions and even an auto-play video.  But still some don't get it.  I think the biggest confusion is the "Close" button.  Users think that it will close the app or the entire window.

Solution #1:  It's possible that part of the problem is the small size and styling of the Security Panel.Is it possible to apply a style or skin to the Security Panel, so that it's larger and looks more consistent to our web app?

Solution #2:  Perhaps there's also a non-technical solution.  Has anyone seen a good implementation of a web app that make it easy for non-technical users to make video calls?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Change A Movieclip From Local To Global?

Mar 27, 2009

I have a movie clip on my stage and it is named quest. Within quest, there are several frames representing the entire game (it's a text based adventure). Every once in a while, there will be an inventory item in one of those frames that has the ability to be dragged and dropped into the inventory box (which is a seperate movie clip on the main stage).

All of that works fine, however, since the movieclip that can be dragged was defined in the 'quest' movieclip, once the user needs to move on to the next frame in the quest panel, the inventory item disappears from the inventory box.

Flex :: Security - Running Application/swf In Local Mode?

Oct 12, 2010

We are using flex for same. (Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.

If you click a second time the clips start start to drift away from center stage. Actionscript 3.0 :: Matrix3d Local To Global Coordinates For Rotation?

Feb 4, 2010

I made a cube with as3. I wanted it to rotate in the Y Axis according to the horizontal mouse movement. It works nice when this is all I want. But if I try to also make it rotate on the X axis with the vertical mouse movement, things get screwy.

This happens because the transformations are added in the global coordinates, not the local ones. So, for Example, if I wanted the cube to rotate 30 degrees along its Y axis, I have to find a way to translate that into the global coordinates, and then apply that to the matrix3D of each face. I need a local to global translator.

Actionscript 3 :: Debug Local Flash File With Preloader - Security Error

Feb 26, 2012

I have two Flash files: pre-loader and application.

Pre-loader: (D:ProjectsFlashAppsddedd.fla) is doing basically this:
var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://localhost/flash/dd.swf");
mLoader.load(mRequest);
}

Application file: (D:ProjectsFlashAppsdddd.fla) is the real application and among other things is doing this:

_loader.load(_request); //where _request = "assets/html/style.css".

When debugging the pre-loader, at this point I am getting an error which says:

SecurityError: Error #2148 File SWF http://localhost/flash/dd.swf cannot access local resource file:///D|/Projects/FlashApps/dd/assets/html/style.css.

The application must be loaded by the pre-loader, it won't start when called directly. But apparently, the security settings are preventing such duo from being possible to debug. Normally when it is on a remote server, it is working ok.

What I have done so far to resolve it:

Added crossdomain.xml to my local i:xampphtdocs folder:

> <?xml version="1.0"?>
> <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">

[Code]....

Set File > Publish Settings -> Local Playback Security -> "Use local files only" in both files. It didn't work, so I set it to "Use network only" Also didn't work.

What else can be done to be able to debug these Flash files locally?

Flex - Security Restriction - Save The Results Of A Database Query To A Local File?

Jan 2, 2012

I'm having some trouble getting around a security restriction of flex. Saving a file is apparently an action that can only be invoked upon user interaction. The problem is that after my user clicks on the save button, I need to perform a database query to get the data for the file I want to save.

Because Flex works asynchronous, I have to make the database call and then catch the ResultEvent in a different function. In that function, I no longer have the user's mouseclick event. How am I then supposed to save this file?

Flash :: Access Local Access Database From It (or AIR)?

Nov 13, 2009

Is it possible for Flash or possibly Adobe AIR to have access to a local Access database?

I will have either a Flash EXE or AIR application running on a local PC (WinXP). The PC will also have a local Access database. I need my Flash application to get the data from this Access database. How would I do this?

I doubt it can be done with Flash or AIR alone (someone prove me wrong or right), but is there an option for some middle-man application to access the data base and send it on to Flash? How would this work?

Or could I read the MDB file into Flash and parse it myself? is there a library for this?
