Mar 28, 2011I recently had this vague error happen to me with the use of LocalConnection. It happened every time I tried to connect and send data to another swf. Doing an internet search came up with little results pertaining to LocalConnection and this error and the response some people had were just ridiculous. Apparently this error pertains to image loading and fileReference also, just not in this case. My sending code works fine, even the event.level returned as status which means the other swf got the message, however a trace in the other swf callback function did not show, telling me the callback never triggered.

May 25, 2011I have this code that is supposed to pull a thumbnail image from a remote server and return it to be displayed in Flex. my code is throwing "No active security context" errors.fter searching I saw a trick with setTimeout that is supposed to fix this, but it isn't working for me.Here is the Code in Flex 4.0 (Note: File is a custom class)

Aug 19, 2011I'm getting this error intermittenly when I'm testing a web project locally:
SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.
I -think- it's an issue loading an image but the trace statements clearly show it's being loaded, report the correct dimensions, etc. I have it looking for both Event.COMPLETE and IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR sniffing and Event.COMPLETE loads just fine. However the image is never displayed.
Certainly could be another part of the code but the error seems very general. Anyone have any idea what it really means? I thought as I tested that choosing a local sandbox would choose a security context.

Sep 13, 2011Possible Duplicate:Error 2000 in flash SecurityError: Error #2000: No active securitycontextand nothing else; no other errors or traces, just that message in my debug flash player. Now the code I have inherited for this project is huge so I have no idea where the issue could be. I already knocked out a few security issues by embedding my xml and css during compile, and I've reached a dead end.I do load swfs dynamically but everything is local to the main swf. Now I should point out that the customer is loading the swf by simply putting the address of it on a file server into their browser (its not in a web page - yes I know this is bad practice but its what they want).

Mar 14, 2011I am trying to use a browser to debug my flash app as it needs External Interface. But whenever I try to attach the Flex Debugger to the browser running Flash app, it shows
SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.
I already checked the other question with same title as my error but changing code is not the solution here as it is an existing code and I don't get this error while using a debug version or when I am not running connected to a debugger.

(Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.

Jan 2, 2012I'm having some trouble getting around a security restriction of flex. Saving a file is apparently an action that can only be invoked upon user interaction. The problem is that after my user clicks on the save button, I need to perform a database query to get the data for the file I want to save.
Because Flex works asynchronous, I have to make the database call and then catch the ResultEvent in a different function. In that function, I no longer have the user's mouseclick event. How am I then supposed to save this file?

Jan 23, 2010Really puzzled by the flaky behavior of LocalConnection. Using a debug utility(LuminicBox) that uses localConnection to work.
When the page containing the swf is loaded in a browser locally , localConnection works.
When the identical page and swf are viewed 'live' on a remote site, localConnection fails.

May 6, 2011The first one (FLEX application) sends a message on a dedicated LocalConnection to a second one (Flash application). The Flash then answers by sending a message on another dedicated LocalConnection. This message is not directly received by the FLEX and the delay is at least 30s, up to 1 or 2 minutes! It seems the issue only occurs with Flash Player >= 10 and it never occurs with Chrome.
I didn't find anything on the web concerning a similar issue nor something in Flash Player release notes. Did someone already have this kind of problem?
By the way, is there any tool that can be used to sniffer LocalConnection communications?
Additional information:
swf are located in different frames swf are embed with swfobject I tried to delay the Flash sending, I tried to create another LocalConnection dedicated to this call but I always had same result: for all calls, the FLEX method is called after the same delay. I also put a timer in FLEX to periodically log to see if there is no background process delaying the method processing but everything seems fine

Feb 26, 2012I have two Flash files: pre-loader and application.
Pre-loader: (D:ProjectsFlashAppsddedd.fla) is doing basically this:

Application file: (D:ProjectsFlashAppsdddd.fla) is the real application and among other things is doing this:
_loader.load(_request); //where _request = "assets/html/style.css".
When debugging the pre-loader, at this point I am getting an error which says:
SecurityError: Error #2148 File SWF http://localhost/flash/dd.swf cannot access local resource file:///D|/Projects/FlashApps/dd/assets/html/style.css.
The application must be loaded by the pre-loader, it won't start when called directly. But apparently, the security settings are preventing such duo from being possible to debug. Normally when it is on a remote server, it is working ok.
What I have done so far to resolve it:
Added crossdomain.xml to my local i:xampphtdocs folder:

Mar 13, 2011I need my flash movie to have access to the microphone, but it is refusing to display the confirmation dialog and the "Settings" context menu item is disabled. The document size is adequate to display the dialog, though. The catch, though, this is only occurring when the SWF is run in the local player. If I run the SWF in a browser, it asks properly and the settings menu is available.

Loading the swf file and testing it on my machine works just fine... I think that may have something to do with me having the debugger version of Flash Player. When I push it up to App Engine to make it public, other clients access it and get a Client.Error.MessageSend Channel.Security.Error error Error #2048 url: http:[url].......I am using Flex 4 beta, and the App Engine Python runtime. I have tried full wildcard in the crossdomain, and even accessing the data endpoint at a relative URL so as to avoid this error.

Aug 8, 2009I'm using a localconnection to allow communication between an actionscript 2 swf and an actionscript 3 swf.Localconnection objects share a global namespace across a user's pc.So, this means, a user can fire up my flash app in one browser, and submit commands, back and forth, which is what i want. But the user can also fire up another browser, and all commands sent to my application will be handled by the first application if its still loaded in the first browser.When I make the LocalConnection, I specify an id, but the id must be known to the actionscript 2 swfs, and therein I find a problem. I don't know how to let the actionscript 2 swfs know what the unique id is.

Jul 31, 2009I have two flash movies communicating with each other using localConnection, passing an object from swfA to swfB. This seems to work fine, but will occasional fail. The only information we have is that the status event is fired with a level of error, there is no other information. Once a connection has failed it will continue to do so.
I don't know why it's happening but it is not a security problem (both movies are running on the same domain) and all communication is wrapped in a try..catch.
alternative method for communicating between movies? I've tried using ExternalInterface but it's too slow for the number of updates that are sent.

Nov 6, 2010I'm working on implementing communication between an Adobe AIR app and a browser Flash object, and the LocalConnection documentation mentions an asyncError as a potential event:
asyncError: Dispatched when an exception is thrown asynchronously — that is, from native asynchronous code.
However, that's the only documentation I can find on it. Does anyone know what this error actually means? I've searched around but couldn't find any reference -- most sample code I found does an addEventListener() for the asyncError but doesn't give any clue as to what it means or when it could occur (i.e. if it could occur when sending or when recieving).The Adobe documentation page also lists potential events for each method, but asyncError isn't listed under any specific method, only for the general class.

Flex :: Context Menu For Loaded SWF
Oct 14, 2009I have a Flex app with a viewport that loads a series of other swfs. I would like to place a context menu over top of the SWFs when the user right-clicks. To that end, I have set up a fairly standard context menu where each item has a ContextMenuEvent.MENU_ITEM_SELECT event handler. One problem: The eventHandler never gets called.
If I place the context-menu code anywhere else in the app, i.e. not on top of a loaded SWF, everything works fine. However, when I place the exact same code on the SWF viewport, the context menu items appear, but the eventHandlers are never called.
