ActionScript 3.0 :: Determine If Two FileReferences Reference The Same File?

Apr 30, 2011

I'm trying to determine if two FileReferences reference the same file.  I'm trying to guarentee file uniqueness in a space where file size and name might not be enough.  What I'm really trying to tell is if the path of each of the referenced files is unique.

I have already tried an approach with hashing the data in the file, but the files I am working with are large, and this is a very slow process.

I would be currious to know as an alternative if it is possible to load only a limited amount into the data array of a FileReference.  I should be able to guarentee uniqueness if I could hash say, the first MB of data, or the whole file...whichever is smaller.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Determine Total # Of Frames In Externally Loaded .swf File?

Apr 29, 2009

I need to be able to load a couple of external.swf files and have them play sequentially. To do that, I need to know the number of frames in the first .swf file so that I can check _currentframe against _totalframes to determine when it is finished playing so that I can load the second one.Most of the tips I see indicate that _totalframes on an external .swf can be determined by loading the.swf into a container clip and then checking using a listener within .onLoadInit. Like this:

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------
this.createEmptyMovieClip("tester_mc", 1);var mcListener:Object = new Object();
mcListener.onLoadInit = function(target_mc:MovieClip)[code].......

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. The trace always returns a total frames of 1.I imagine this is because the container movie clip only has 1 frame, and the external .swf timeline appears to be ignored.how to gather the total frames of an external .swf file or, alternatively, tell in some other way when it is finished playing. (Not just loading, but playing to the end.)

Aug 29, 2011

I have written a ac3 script to upload files to remote servers and it is working as expected with all the events.

From the server side script i am echoing some text according to the upload status and i want that status to be received in flash like response text in ajax.

Is it possible to receive response text from a server script after uploading a file.

Or it doesn't have to be a file upload yet i wanted to have the string echoed in the server side script as response text in flash.

If that is not possible like ajax or normal request and response then is there another ways of achieving that?

Here is the code which gets executed when upload is complete.

Mxmlc :: Does Flex SDK's Create A Cache File Or Hash To Determine If Source Code Has Changed

Oct 22, 2009

My ant buildfiles tell mxmlc.jar to recompile target mxml source. However, if the target mxml source file has not changed, either ant or mxmlc is ignoring the file and will not create a new swf. This is an annoyance because I'm editing files imported by the target mxml. I need it to rebuild when those files change. I'm guessing that the mxmlc is creating a cache file somewhere and comparing the target mxml (or maybe just a hash). Is this what is happening? What's the standard work-around? At the moment, I'm editing the target mxml just to cause a file change.

Flash - Getting A Reference To An Object From Within A .as File

May 31, 2011

I am modifying some Flex code written by someone else. There is an mx:text control that I want to change the 'text' property of. I know how to do this within the .mxml file in which the control is defined, however I don't know how to do this from within a separate .as ActionScript file. I recall in Flash there is some way to fully qualify the reference by prepending the stage or something like that

Code:

private var _progressClip:MovieClip;
[Code] .....

Thats my ExtendClass for the FileReference but when I try to use it in combination with File Selecting I get the Error
TypeError: Error #1034: Typumwandlung fehlgeschlagen: flash.net::FileReference@35bf8c1 kann nicht in CustomFileReference umgewandelt werden.
at CustomFileReferenceList/::selectHandler()

Well that's in german but it says me that I cant change from FileReference to my CustomFileReference Type. It happens in the selectHandler after I select some Files to upload and then try to Handle them.

Code:
fileListArray.push(CustomFileReference(fileList[item]));
How I can get it to run? Or how can I add an additional Property to it which I can Access later during the Upload Progress?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keyboard Events And File Reference

Jun 24, 2011

Started work on my actual project and thought I'd get a handle on the FR class before creating the game world mechanics. I have a class that deals with keyboard events with a set of functions I use on most of my projects and it works fine, however, I have been thrown a nice little error about FR methods needing user input to actually run, which I thought would've been recognised as it's encased in if statements that return values from the key class. I add an event listener for KEY_DOWN in the class I'm using the FR and as soon as the conditions within the KeyboardEvent function are met, my key class detection stops working.

I'm guessing that this is because the stage has two listeners added to it and one overrides the other. Why is it that the second listener only overrides the first once a specific key is pressed? Do I also need a subsequent KEY_UP listener to resolve this? Though the second listener does not affect the key class at all. I've tried returning the KeyboardEvent from my keyclass and passing that manually into the other function but that also did not work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reference A Specific Frame Inside A MC In .swf File?

May 30, 2009

I'm trying to reference a specific frame inside a MC in my .swf file from an .as file.What I want is to capture the current frame of the movie clip for the .as file. It's for the purpose of points when you shoot each plane. It's an easy trick of frame 1's plane would be worth 100 points, frame 2's plane 200 points, etc.I thought I'd write a line like this in my collision detection section of my .as file.

Code:
planePoints = currentFrame * 100;

The only problem is, of course, it grabs the current frame of the main .swf timeline that my flash file uses, and not the movieclip that's being called to produce the planes.So I thought I'd be able to specify a path to the movie clip (in this case it's called Airplane in the MC's linkage properties)

Code:
planePoints = Airplane.currentFrame * 100;
Then, of course, it freaks out and says that 'access of possibly undefined property currentFrame through a reference with static type Class.'

I still get confused with AS3 and the way items are handled vs AS2. I've lost track of how many times I type _root.

ActionScript 3.0 :: File Reference (Save) Throws Error

Apr 3, 2012

I have a code which saves a display object locally as an image file, but at some point it began throwing error 2174 (up until then it worked fine). This code is called either from a context-menu click event or a keyboard event.

var sourceBmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(displayObject.width,displayObject.height);
sourceBmd.draw(displayObject,new Matrix(displayObject.width,0,0,displayObject.height));
var jpgEncoder:JPGEncoder = new JPGEncoder(80);
var byteArray:ByteArray = jpgEncoder.encode(sourceBmd);
try {
filereference.save(byteArray,"posterImage.jpg");
} catch (e:Error) {
Debugging.alert("error: ",e.message);
}

As you can see, the filereference has only a single action - so no reason for error 2174 to be thrown (and yes - I also have a listener for the 'cancel' event). I'm publishing for flash player 10.0

ActionScript 3.0 :: Namespaces And Packages - Fail To Reference As-class From Fla File

Sep 26, 2009

Trying to migrate to AS 3.0 here, but are facing a tough time at kick-off: I have a base fla file located in a folder named "game". The "game" folder is in a folder named "northcreek" which again is in a folder named "no". For no other reason than that I read somewhere that this was smart. Anyway, I have in my (document) class under publish settings this: no.northcreek.game.Engine Both my "game.fla" and my "Engine.as" reside in the "game" folder, but I fail to reference my as-class from my fla file. What do I do wrong? It works if I simply remove all namespace names, and only type namespace, but I am trying to do it the right way here...
