I have a Flash file, which uses AS 2, that is displayed in 2 individual html pages. When I click a link in the file, I would like to, if possible, determine the name of the page that it is inside of. Is there a way to determine which of the 2 HTML pages my Flash file is being called from?
View 1 RepliesI have made a flash banner in flash cs4. Everything is ok except that it displays the wrong font when viewing the webpage in ie7 on a pc. The font in the swf file is a mac only font but the text that it is displaying is a graphic symbol. Do i need to embed this font in the swf file?

It's so weird.I seperated the Image Slide show component from the Scroller... the scroller had the same effect... didn't display in FF.Played around with WmodeChecked my code for addChild problems, visibilty, alpha properties... nothing out of the ordinary.Asked God.Drank some Gin.Took a break and came back to it.I've reseached Google and the most I could come up with is to compile using FP10. It is FP10. I'm using CS3 and FlashDevelop. When I right click on my Flash file, it does indeed display FP10. Same with Flex.

I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.

Does flash.display.Loader determine the file by filename or header?
The reason why I ask is that I'm getting an IOError: "Unknown File Type" when loading an swf which has a strange filename (in the form of "filename.randomnumbersandletters.swf").
As the site will be totally in flash, there is no use of JavaScript required. So, what is the best way to embed a SWF file into a web page without using JavaScript. And why do you consider it to be the best one?

I've been looking around like a forensic scientist piecing together information for my latest project. Basically I need to display a particular webpage within my flash file... Now I know flash can display simple HTML, but nothing complex and nothing from an external source... BUT I know flash can also handle PHP - obviously. I figure I can load the content of my flash page from a notepad file within the same directory.I would prefer to not make the editor use a FTP program, so I figure the best method is a webpage where the person can log in and type the updated text and have it create a new notepad file and overwrite the old one. when I run index.html (loads the swf file) locally, the 'ID' is not changing when i resfresh the window. I clear browsing history and the ID changes when I resfresh. Is there a way to tell my swf file to ignore the browsing history so that it will change the ID number everythime I refresh the swf file? Is it because I'm using a textfiled to display it? this is the fla file the displays the ID

I'm having a "problem" with loading an external .swf in my main flash swf movie (which is a website). When the external .swf loads and displays itself on the main swf (website), the complete external swf file is viewable. To clarify: this external .swf has a world map that moves with a tween. If the animation is played within the main swf, I can see the whole world map and not just only that specific part of the world map that is visible on the "original" .swf
Make a mask over the complete external.swf? Where should i make the mask in the external .swf itself or on the movieclip in my main swf (website)?

I have on one file (player1.fla), a movie that plays MP3s from an array, which I specify in that movie. The code for that works just fine.I've duplicated the file and renamed it to a different one (player2.fla) so I could load the MP3s from a variable (array) on a text file. This way, to add more songs, all I would have to do is update the text file.
I changed the code around a tiny bit in the "player2.fla" file to accomodate for loading a text file, but nothing more.*My Problem* The text file loads properly and displays the Title of the mp3, but it won't play the mp3.The text file looks something like this: (just an example)

how to determine swf publish date/time stamp from within the swf?
I have a template fla used to build apps (in AS3) and would like to know some info about when it was published.
I initially thought it would be in the loaderInfo but it doesn't have the date/time stamp of when it was published (or at least not that I could find)
Is there a way, using actionscript, of determining if a file exists within a directory on the web server? I'm using Flash MX Pro.
