It's so weird.I seperated the Image Slide show component from the Scroller... the scroller had the same effect... didn't display in FF.Played around with WmodeChecked my code for addChild problems, visibilty, alpha properties... nothing out of the ordinary.Asked God.Drank some Gin.Took a break and came back to it.I've reseached Google and the most I could come up with is to compile using FP10. It is FP10. I'm using CS3 and FlashDevelop. When I right click on my Flash file, it does indeed display FP10. Same with Flex.

I have a flex 3.2 project (AS3) that causes Firefox to display a blank page a few moments before the .swf file is loaded and I have no idea why.
I am using swfobject2 to load the swf file, but this also happens without it using just object/embed tags.I am testing on localhost with disabled cache in Firefox, although it sometimes also occurs with the cache enabled. The size of the swf file is about 250kB and uses RSL for the framework. I also tested with other file sizes (see below).[code]...
I installed flash cs4 the other day and ever since firefox will popup annoying errors. Its probably some debugger, but i want it disabled cause it comes up 5-6 times in a row when i browse the internet, (usually will happen on facebook or some youtube vids in blogs). the error starts like this: TypeError #1009 I will paste the whole thing in this thread the next time it happens, but i'm pretty sure the error itself doesn't matter, i think some debugger was installed in firefox when i installed flash cs4.
btw I want to make a multiplayer risk game for facebook in flash. think it will be hard? i'm already well versed in php and mysql. but i don't know any flash. i want my flash app to communicate with the server without reloading. is that easy with actionscript? will i need to learn AJAX as well?

Works properly in IE8 and Firefox 3.5.5 - however in the latest Chrome and Safari only the topmost FLV displays. FLV embedded with Dreamweaver CS4.

I have built a Flash site and also set it up with alternate content so it can be viewed on iPhone and iPad as well as other mobile devices. It works great everywhere but in FireFox the site's swf loads on the page twice.Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, what have you done to work around this FireFox bug?
View 1 Repliesi have an swf placed into a html doc - the swf creates thumbnails and links that create a sort of videowall effect - the links come via xml. i am using lightwindow to create an overlay that displays the links/images/video etc... so here is the problem - if i open it with firefox on a mac - and choose say the youtube link - it opens lightwindow brings in the flv briefly - then the flv vanishes leaving a white void where the player should.
but if i add the same link to the html and click it, that works as it should do - ie the youtube flv apprears and you can click and play it etc... Safari on a mac works a treat - and loads and then plays the flv. is this just a bug in FF for the mac - or mac&pc? doesn't FF like flash and youtube together or something? or is there a work around? my tester is here could any pc heads tell me if the lightwindow works at all on their windows browsers? and tell me what versions you are on?

when I run index.html (loads the swf file) locally, the 'ID' is not changing when i resfresh the window. I clear browsing history and the ID changes when I resfresh. Is there a way to tell my swf file to ignore the browsing history so that it will change the ID number everythime I refresh the swf file? Is it because I'm using a textfiled to display it? this is the fla file the displays the ID

I'm having a "problem" with loading an external .swf in my main flash swf movie (which is a website). When the external .swf loads and displays itself on the main swf (website), the complete external swf file is viewable. To clarify: this external .swf has a world map that moves with a tween. If the animation is played within the main swf, I can see the whole world map and not just only that specific part of the world map that is visible on the "original" .swf

I need to create a projector file that displays at 150% of the movie size.I have looked at fscommand:

I have on one file (player1.fla), a movie that plays MP3s from an array, which I specify in that movie. The code for that works just fine.I've duplicated the file and renamed it to a different one (player2.fla) so I could load the MP3s from a variable (array) on a text file. This way, to add more songs, all I would have to do is update the text file.
I changed the code around a tiny bit in the "player2.fla" file to accomodate for loading a text file, but nothing more.*My Problem* The text file loads properly and displays the Title of the mp3, but it won't play the mp3.The text file looks something like this: (just an example)

Why code above can't function in Chrome?
I need my SWF banners to display in an IFRAME, and after a set amount of time, they need to animate and end up behind another SWF on the page.
Currently JPGs and GIFs do this just fine, but when the IFRAME contains a SWF, it displays on top of the other SWF, not behind it.
I've already tried the following:
-setting z-index on the SWF and IFRAME
-setting wmode=transparent
I know the obvious solution here is to use object/embed code in the div, but for reasons beyond my control and too annoying to discuss here, this isn't an option. The SWFs must be placed using an IFRAME. This makes setting WMODE impossible, and when the IFRAME contains a swf, the browser ignores z-index.
I have tested the movie on ff (linux, mac, windows), ie, and safari.everything seemed to be fine. then one user tried to view it from his windows machine, and he had problems in both ff and ie.it was almost as if the flash movie was not transparent (the flash div overlays an html div.)and yes, i did set wmode to transparent.he is running xp, the newest flash, newest ff, and ie7. the other windows machines i've tested it on have the same.
View 1 RepliesI have been working on a Flash movie that loads variable data from an external XML file and dynamically displays the item names in a menu which may then be clicked to display other dynamically-loaded content that corresponds to the menu item that was clicked. I have now come to a standstill in the project as there is something I'd like to achieve but simply cannot work out how. This is my first attempt at working with XML in Flash and one of my early attempts at using variables. What I'm trying to achieve is; once the user has viewed the item's content, they can simply click "next" and "previous" buttons to display all of the content for the next or previous items in the XML document.
I know it probably sounds simple and I'm sure some of you could achieve this in 5 minutes (!) but I can't get my head around some of the coding. I assume previousSibling and nextSibling would come into play here as well as some sort of functions which access arrays of data for the previous and next items, but I'm just not sure how to correctly put these things to use. I can find absolutely nothing when I search for an answer. I have a conditional comment in my html to only display a flash file when the browser is IE. And it works great, except that the conditional comment is displaying in my browser! [URL] to see the error (it only shows in IE). Could it be because I haven't declared the page as an html4 page? The only way I can get the comments to go away is if I use this syntax: <!--<![if lt IE10]><!-->my code<!--<![endif]--> . When I do this, of course my flash file shows underneath my alternate content on other browsers.

View 2 RepliesI have made a flash banner in flash cs4. Everything is ok except that it displays the wrong font when viewing the webpage in ie7 on a pc. The font in the swf file is a mac only font but the text that it is displaying is a graphic symbol. Do i need to embed this font in the swf file?
View 1 RepliesAnyway for some reason when i test scene the box comes up showing my flash fine but when i go and locate the .SWF in the folder that all my flash fla and swfs are then for some reason its only a graphic clip and movieclip animation that displays and the rest of the background is the background colour. I checked this by first changing it to black and preview. To which the background changed black and then did the same and changed the background colour to blue and the same thing happened, the background in the swf changed to blue aswell. I have no actionscript in the scene and the majority of the things are just art besides a graphic clip the movie clip animation.
View 5 RepliesI have a web application that has javscript interspersed through the page. What happens is that safari will dump the source of the javascript code instead of executing it. I can reproduce this consistently. The page is a mashup of different forms of content: It loads flash videos using osflv and is generated via a php script on the server side. In addition the page also contains calls to Google Map's API to display a map. The content is placed in separate tabs using javascript to provide tab interaction. I am also using mootools, and not sure if that is potentially causing issues.

I want to build a Flash app that displays content from various RSS and XML feeds.Rather than import the whole data from the different feeds straight from the url into Flash (which would take forever anyway) I'm thinking of using a MySQL database to first import the numerous data feeds and then in Flash call a server side script to retreive only the data I need.
This way only data requested is loaded into flash, which is a requirement since I intend to make the flash app available on mobiles as a flashlite app - it keeps the app light and not demanding on network traffic which will ultimately cost money.
I will need to run the import periodically, perhaps once per hour.I'm not interested in building up an archive of the data since it is time specific and will be out of date, so I intend to clear out data as it expires, perhaps with a daily script.
Whenever I test or publish a CS5 movie that uses TLF text (no matter which font), the .swf displays all elements but the text. There's simply nothing there. I'm on a mac with Snow Leopard, 10.6.7. This only happens as soon as I pass the 1000 frame limit (before, everything displays fine). Reaching wit's end here. Anyone know what causes this, and more specifically, how to solve it?
