IDE :: Flash Displays On Some Windows Machines Not Others
Oct 21, 2009
I have tested the movie on ff (linux, mac, windows), ie, and safari.everything seemed to be fine. then one user tried to view it from his windows machine, and he had problems in both ff and ie.it was almost as if the flash movie was not transparent (the flash div overlays an html div.)and yes, i did set wmode to transparent.he is running xp, the newest flash, newest ff, and ie7. the other windows machines i've tested it on have the same.
I created this flash object, which preloads the file on the first frame before continuing to play, yet on slower machines it moves much slower then the 30 fps it is supposed to play at. The file is 1.2 MB in size. Using actionscript 3.
I want to communicate between flash movies on two different machines. Is this possible? Maybe with Flex? Also, can you open a windows command prompt with flash and send it commands?
I've hit a brick wall here. I have a Flash file that displays fine in IE. It also displays fine when ran as a SWF. However, in FireFox, it does not display my scroller. I developed the Scroller component dynamically... everything is drawn from scratch, no library movieClips, etc. I'm starting to think that could be the cause? I've tried many different things:

I've tried many different things: Changed the HTML code to bare bones embedding code.Recompiled in Flex.... same result!Tested on another computer... it worked fine! However, I tested on another computer with FireFox... same problem.
It's so weird.I seperated the Image Slide show component from the Scroller... the scroller had the same effect... didn't display in FF.Played around with WmodeChecked my code for addChild problems, visibilty, alpha properties... nothing out of the ordinary.Asked God.Drank some Gin.Took a break and came back to it.I've reseached Google and the most I could come up with is to compile using FP10. It is FP10. I'm using CS3 and FlashDevelop. When I right click on my Flash file, it does indeed display FP10. Same with Flex.
I want to create a flash program that tracks mouse and keyboard biometrics such as mouse movement speed, click rate, length of keystrokes and so forth. How can I ensure that if a user duplicates his/her actions across multiple machines with varying processor speeds I will record the same data?
I want develop an application on windows mobile. In this app, i need to show some Flash games to the end user.ow should I do?embed an Flash ActiveX Control (in Windows mobile Form application) ?embed an IE control?BTW (because i do not have a windows mobile device now)Can I views flash in IE of the windows mobile device?for play flash, Macromedia Flash Player 7 for Pocket PC should be installed on your windows mobile emulator.DIT2:after practice i found following package should be installed before your windows mobile progr
Vista SP2 Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Windows Mobile Device Center
I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://domain.net/registerVideo.php"); var vars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();[code]....
The above client side code works for my machine(using the same web session),but not working for some other machines.
i set FMS running fine. I have even enabled TCP port forward, not that i need it localy.the thing is, from other machines the FMS wont answer. FME is going
rmtp://192.168.1.100/live/livestream FMS is in 192.168.1.100 (same machine)
if i go from another lan machine, it simply wont connect.. nor does Access.log relates to anything trying to connect to it. (from other machine, from same machine everything goes smooth)
I produced an ActionScript 3.0, Flash Player 10 swf in a newly downloaded CS5 (trial version). The file loads fine in both Chrome and Safari on my computer. But when I open it on another machine I only get five animated dots - ..... - in a "wait while loading" manner. The swf never starts. Same on my brother's computer.
My browser has Flash Player 10,1,52,14 installed along with CS5 (swf works). My other computer claims to have Flash Player 10,1,53,38 installed (swf doesn't work). My brother's computer has Flash Player 10,0,45,2 (swf doesn't work).I've tried various publish configs such as on/off xml meta data, on/off hidden layers, embed minimal or more of my font etc. When I configure for ActionScript 2.0 and/or Flash Player 9 my animation breaks totally.
I am working on a large batch of banners with another designer. We are both using the same assets, the same version of Flash (CS4) and are both working on Macs. We are also both using the same fonts through Universal Type Client yet when I open files that he has produced the text elements display lower down than they should. If I align them correctly on my machine and then give back the file the text appears too high when he opens it. There are no font errors when the files are opened and the characters display fine except for the alignment. Does anyone know what might be causing this in Flash or is it an issue with the fonts themselves?
how to tackle it. The worst part is, is that I'm not able to reproduce it on my machine, so at this point, I have no errors to chase down, and no diagnosing tools to see what's happening.
Here's the main issue:
We have this large content sharing site that loads a handful of external swfs, and one of the external swfs does not load for a handful of our site's users. Frustratingly, it loads perfectly fine for me and many other users in a relatively wide variety of environments (PC/Mac/various browsers/virtual machines), so this goes a little beyond MY SWF'S NOT SHOWING UP
Here are some details that might be causing this error:
The main swf has grown rather large. It publishes to just over 600 KB, and more than half of that is Actionscript. I actually had to turn off compress and optimize, because it stopped compiling (this has been a long-running project that has steadily grown over time). I'm pushing for budget to re-architect the site, but that's another story.
The main swf loads a dataset of 5,000+ content piece details (~10 fields of numbers/text each).
As you can see, I'm starting to think this might be a memory issue, which would explain why it's not hitting me and a lot of other people in the office.
However, it might also be a shared object issue. Since I'm running solely off of feedback from user -> client -> us, it sounds like some of the users DO see the swf the first time around, and there might be a shared object error being thrown.
The external swf uses a shared object to save the users project. One of the users (who was experiencing this problem) had an in interesting folder structure where the shared object folder was contained within a folder labeled [[IMPORT]]. I've spent some time googling this, but to no avail.
I'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. These are the following conditions to replicate it: Issue only happens in Windows (Windows 7, not on Mac) Issue only happens with Reader X installed (not with previous versions) Issue only happens when running the built app, does not happen in debug / development mode from FlashBuilder
I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:
[Code]...
All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below. My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference(); private function onClick():void { fileReference = new FileReference(); fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);
From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?
I have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?
I need my SWF banners to display in an IFRAME, and after a set amount of time, they need to animate and end up behind another SWF on the page.
Currently JPGs and GIFs do this just fine, but when the IFRAME contains a SWF, it displays on top of the other SWF, not behind it.
I've already tried the following:
-setting z-index on the SWF and IFRAME -setting wmode=transparent
I know the obvious solution here is to use object/embed code in the div, but for reasons beyond my control and too annoying to discuss here, this isn't an option. The SWFs must be placed using an IFRAME. This makes setting WMODE impossible, and when the IFRAME contains a swf, the browser ignores z-index.
I want to provides an option in my air/flex application. A user can check an option and the application starts when windows starts.I don't find with google how to do this, someone knows do that ?
does anyone have an idea or developed before windows authentication through flex application.I have a semi solution when user enters his/her AD username and password, and application send this data to web service which handles AD authentication, but this is one extra step which will give full comfort for users.
I can find absolutely nothing when I search for an answer. I have a conditional comment in my html to only display a flash file when the browser is IE. And it works great, except that the conditional comment is displaying in my browser! [URL] to see the error (it only shows in IE). Could it be because I haven't declared the page as an html4 page? The only way I can get the comments to go away is if I use this syntax: <!--<![if lt IE10]><!-->my code<!--<![endif]--> . When I do this, of course my flash file shows underneath my alternate content on other browsers.
I have a Flash file, which uses AS 2, that is displayed in 2 individual html pages. When I click a link in the file, I would like to, if possible, determine the name of the page that it is inside of. Is there a way to determine which of the 2 HTML pages my Flash file is being called from?
I remember reading about a Flash Player plugin which shows the output window when errors occur but can't remember the link or where I read about itDoes this exist or have I made it up?! Would like to use it if it does as could be useful when testing out Flash compostions on the web
I have made a flash banner in flash cs4. Everything is ok except that it displays the wrong font when viewing the webpage in ie7 on a pc. The font in the swf file is a mac only font but the text that it is displaying is a graphic symbol. Do i need to embed this font in the swf file?
