does anyone have an idea or developed before windows authentication through flex application.I have a semi solution when user enters his/her AD username and password, and application send this data to web service which handles AD authentication, but this is one extra step which will give full comfort for users.

I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?

I have a flex app that allows the user to upload a file.The flex side uses the FileReference.upload method that goes to an .aspx page that handles the upload. It works only intermittently when I have IIS set to integrated windows authentication.That said, for testing purposes,I wrote a separate aspx page that does a file upload and this always works.I'd like to leverage the file import,though, within the nice looking flex app and not kick off a new webpage for a file upload.In looking at the IIS logs I have a hypothesis as to what's happening, and want to know if someone has full understanding as to why it may only intermittently work and can confirm or deny this: Flex' FileReference upload guts does whatever it does on the client then initiates a POST request to my .aspx page.On the times it failes, the IIS logs state that IE didn't pass the credentials so denies the request then sends a 401 response.
I don't get this 401 response on the flex side even though I'm listening for HTTP status codes (flash bug?).A new request is somehow immediately made to perform the upload again (it's not my code). I'm inferring this by looking at the IIS lgos which shows a second POST right after the previous one, only this time the user credentials are sent through, but the kicker is that the file the user uploaded is not uploaded this time. I infer this by the fact that the IIS logs show 0 bytes are posted, whereas the previous 401 request show a lot of bytes are POSTed.On the times it does work, what happens is that the first request for the HTTP POST the FileReference makes so happens to send the windows credentials along, so the client is not challenged.
I have a flex app hosted on a windows server running IIS. That same server has some rest services that the app interacts with. The rest services have windows authentication so that their urls cannot be called without credentials. The flex app needs to be accessible to the public so its files are accessed by enabling anonymous access. The problem is of course that when the app tries to call the rest services the browser pops a dialog box asking for windows username and pass. I naively hoped that if I set the anonymous access on the flex site to use the credentials of a windows account that had permission to view the rest services that would resolve the matter. I hoped that IIS would see the browser used the proper creds to view the flex app and use those same creds to get the rest services. Wrong, that didn't work.
So is what I want impossible? I'd like to find a way to not force the user to enter windows creds, keep the rest services using windows authentication, and have the flex app able to access the rest urls. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Also, it may turn out that the flex app is running on http and the rest services must be called with https. Does that change your answer?
We have a situation where a web application within an intranet requires windows authentication. This way employees of the company can login to their desktops and have automatic access to the web application and also be identified automatically without having to login because Windowns Authentication takes care of that. The problem is that we've added a Flex module to the web application. The web application comes up fine and authenticates the user can then navigate to the page where we have the Flex application. Which loads fine. The problem is that the Flex application also needs to communicate with the same server about this user but this communication is not working and is prompting the user for a password. Even if the correct user/pass is entered it fails and the Flex application can't talk to the server which requires Windows authentication.
Our expectations was the since the IE browser housing the flex application was already authenticated that all communication from the Flex app would also carry with it the necessary information to enable it to access the server without authentication.
I'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.

I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?
View 1 RepliesI have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.
I'm running into an issue with Uploadify. I have put Uploadify into my app and all works fine in dev (using the VS web server). All worked fine and checked until I deployed the app into my test environment which uses Integrated Windows Authentication. When I actually go to upload the file, the browser brings up a login prompt. At this point, even if you type in the correct username and password, the request seems not to complete and even if you tell the browser to remember the password it still brings up the login prompt.
When this started to occur, I decided to spin up Fiddler and see what was going on. But guess what, when ever Fiddler is running the issue doesn't occur. Unfortunately I can't make running Fiddler a reuqierment for running the app. I know there are some issues with Uploadify/flash when using forms authentication but I didn't think they carried across to Integrated Windows Authentication.
In my flex AIR application(with systemChrome=false & showFlexChrome=false) I am using ApplicationControlbar as the title bar with title text, close, max, min, button. It work fine on windows platform. But I have problem on MAC platform. My application shows close, max, min buttons on right & title text on left. But my requirement is on windows it should be like it is & on Mac the title bar should show close, max min buttons on left.
I tried to identify the platform on which the application is running but I was not able to get that. I don't know how but creating two css & applying accordingly would work but don't know how to implement it.

I'm developing a flex application to view charts and statistic data about real-time stock price. The requirement is that 1 user can view multiple windows (or panel, or canvas) of multiple stock symbols at the same time. I want to have 1 button, when I click at that button, a new panel will be pop up in a new WebBrowser tab. 1 user can open 5 or more panels like that in 5 more webbrowser tab to see 5 different stocks. And all 5 panels must be managed by the main Application. So that the Application can send stock price data to those 5 panels.
View 2 RepliesI have a simple Flex (Flash Builder) application which pops up a new window when a user clicks on a map. The user can make subsequent clicks on the map to have additional pop up windows appear, each of which currently pop up on top of the initial/previous pop up window(s) (i.e. at the same X and Y position). I want to modify the application in such a way that each new pop up window will be rendered slightly offset from the previous pop up window. A coworker has suggested I try to find a way to leverage existing window cascading functionality in Flex, but so far I've not found anything which can manage this for you. Is there such a solution cooked into Flex already, or should I roll my own by calculating the new pop up window's X and Y position based on the last pop up window's X and Y position?

These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? It's critical to our project that this works.In some cases, the applications take quite a long time to detect each other as neighbors (up to 15 seconds in some cases), in other cases they detect each other immediately. I am creating an AIR application using Flex. In it I use a file in application directory to store some data in it.Its working very well to read and write data to this file with various OS except windows 7. In windows 7 it is not working. May be its a permission problem.

I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?

View 4 Replies1. Is there any way to send events from one native window of an application to another native window of the same application? For ex. a login window pops up when the app starts in the main window. Once the login is successful, an event should be posted to the main window, so that it starts displaying other things. Right now, I am posting an event, but it is not reaching the main window (nothing shows up in trace and breakpoint is not hit in the main window).
2. Is there a way for any window to grab focus? For ex. the login window above grabs the focus till the creds are keyed in. I mean, the user should not be able to select the main window at all till this window is active.
