View 1 RepliesI'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. These are the following conditions to replicate it: Issue only happens in Windows (Windows 7, not on Mac) Issue only happens with Reader X installed (not with previous versions) Issue only happens when running the built app, does not happen in debug / development mode from FlashBuilder

I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:
[Code]...
All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below.My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference();
private function onClick():void {
fileReference = new FileReference();
fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);

From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?
View 1 RepliesI have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?
View 1 RepliesI want to provides an option in my air/flex application. A user can check an option and the application starts when windows starts.I don't find with google how to do this, someone knows do that ?
View 1 Repliesdoes anyone have an idea or developed before windows authentication through flex application.I have a semi solution when user enters his/her AD username and password, and application send this data to web service which handles AD authentication, but this is one extra step which will give full comfort for users.
View 1 RepliesI'm packiging AIR app both on Mac and on Windows. On Mac everything goes well, but on Windows I get an error.
Myapp-app.xml: error 102: Invalid namespace [URL]
I have latest SDK's installed on both machines, although Flash Builder is newer on Mac. Does the Flash Builder version even matter?
we're having a strange problem on a project here. When we use NetConnection in combination with a NetGroup to initiate communication between two local AIR applications on Windows XP, they always both connect to the NetGroup succesfully and detect each other as neighbors. However, on Windows 7 both applications connect succesfully to the NetConnection and NetGroup both don't detect each other as neighbors.To reproduce this problem, here are two AIR applications:[code]
These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? It's critical to our project that this works.In some cases, the applications take quite a long time to detect each other as neighbors (up to 15 seconds in some cases), in other cases they detect each other immediately. Does anyone know what could cause this delay?

[URL]..This movie seems to run fine on OSX in Firefox and Safari, but just hangs on my friend's Windows machine. I've only been able to test on his machine, but I'm pretty sure it seems to be a windows problem,and not just his machine. Not much going on as far as code. I'm just stopping, waiting until bytesLoaded equals bytesTotal, and then playing.
View 3 RepliesJust thought I'd share that after the windows update I did this week, the browser cache blocking trick described in many places where you put ?r=<randomnumber> at the end of a URL no longer works. Not exactly sure what happened, but it now causes a URL not found error, at least for me when I'm loading local files off my disk.
This thread talks about the cache blocking trick:

I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?
SWF generated in Flash 4 with embedded pics seem to display poorly (jagged) ONLY in Windows 7 IE - vector elements are fine.url...
View 2 RepliesI'm having troubles testing a StageVideo file locally. The HTML file that contains the swf loads perfectly in Chrome & FireFox, but when I go to open it in Internet Explorer 9 nothing happens (it just shows a white screen).
I've added the permissions for the location to the 'Global Security Settings' tab of the Flash settings manager (on the Macromedia website). I've also checked in the IE9 settings to make sure that it allows GPU rendering.
why it might be blocked in IE9?
In firefox and chrome on my macbook the video plays full screen in the background.However, my client is complaining about it not working at all on windows computers. While I thought that most browser compatibility issues were mostly browser based and not OS based, apparently the same site does not work in firefox and chrome on pc's.I'm not 100% sure, but it might be some sort of a z-index problem? I heard that the video would show up, but none of the content would.
View 1 RepliesI have an FTP program written that uploads ByteArrays through sockets. It works great on my Mac! I open a command connection, then a data connection, send the ByteArray and then use socket.close() on my data connection. This causes the server to disconnect me and sends the 226:transfer succeeded message back through my command connection. The problem is that in IE8, FF 3.5, and Safari 4 on Windows the socket.close() func does not make the server close the connection. The fact that it works in all of my Mac browsers, and the IDE, but not in Windows browsers makes me think that it's something to do with the Flash Player.
My FP version check data:
MAC 10,0,32,18
WIN 10,0,32,18
I've tried downloading the newest Adobe Flash Player 10 on IE8 on my Windows Vista and it's not working.It downloads but when I go back to hulu.com it says I still have to download the latest version. I've tried unistalling and installing it (several times)... I've made sure that Shockwave is enabled under Internet settings... I've also tried unistalling IE8 and reinstalling without the updates... and still nothing.I even tried installing Flash 10 on IE7, still nothing worked.
I have Windows Vista 32 bit and not terribly computer savvy.Hulu works fine when I use Firefox, but it's not working on IE8. I need it to work on IE8 in order to stream video from hulu on our Wii through PlayOn TV.
I have a projector published from Mac into two formats: Mac and Windows. The main movie loads an intro flv, and it has a button to skip which loads another swf.When I run the .app in MacOS, it works fine. The video is displayed and the button jumps to the mentioned swf. However, when running the .exe in Windows, no video is showed and the button does nothing.I think it's a path problem. I'm using relative ones, and have tried in all forms:
./video/myvideo.flv
/video/myvideo.flv
video/myvideo.flv

For the past while, my developer has been working with me on a small project to put together a live interactive whiteboard app, powered by Flash Media Interactive Server. Well, everything is finished & ready to go, but there seems to be a big problem:
The app was developed & tested on a windows machine, while my server and all my website files (to integrate with) is on a Linux system.
It's been a month since this problem arrose, and there had not been any further progress with this project for the time. My developer doesn't seem to know much about how the 'conversion process' works, if there is one.
Do you know if this is possible (to convert a windows-programmed app to work on a linux system)? If so, do you know roughly how it should be handled?
ActionScript 2.0 :: addItem({Windows that are currently open: _root.myinfo}) won't work?
View 2 RepliesI've tried the chromeless script from chromeless.org but it doesn't work in windows XP SP1 and SP2. I need a pop up full screen window as I've designed the whole site with the full screen in mind and if I can't get a pop up, I got to redo everything!! I redid it twice and I'm not going to try the third!! OMG!! Anyone has alternative solutions for this? Or anyone has another version of the chromeless script that works with SP1 and SP2?
View 1 RepliesI inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:
[URL]
When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..
this is the code called sound control
onClipEvent(load)
{
_root.soundstatus="on";
_root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);
[Code]....
then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..
I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..
I want adobe sockets to send "customized" class object to a server socket(WinSock2). I used socket.writeObject(myClassObj). Actually My flash application and windows application works for string buffer but not for object.
Code:
//Flash
var buffer:String = "God Bless Us";
socket.writeUTFBytes(buffer);
// WinSock2
iResult = recv(ClientSock, recvbuf, recvbuflen, 0);
Is there anything I must do before writeObject() is used.?
Is there a way to access other active windows in AIR?
I want to make an AIR app that look into the active application text and look for a specific pattern and make a transparent window into that text position to create a button. Its a bit like the skype plug-in in Mozilla ... It replaces the telephone number with a button to launch skype.
I want to deploy my project only for windows os not for Mac pc. The application is build up with flex. How can I deploy this only for window pc?
View 2 RepliesI've flex application and am using arial font family. My problem is, arial fonts are shown up in windows while on Mac, it's been replaced with Times New Roman. (Arial font is there on both systems).
View 2 RepliesIn my flex AIR application(with systemChrome=false & showFlexChrome=false) I am using ApplicationControlbar as the title bar with title text, close, max, min, button. It work fine on windows platform. But I have problem on MAC platform. My application shows close, max, min buttons on right & title text on left. But my requirement is on windows it should be like it is & on Mac the title bar should show close, max min buttons on left.
I tried to identify the platform on which the application is running but I was not able to get that. I don't know how but creating two css & applying accordingly would work but don't know how to implement it.
