Just thought I'd share that after the windows update I did this week, the browser cache blocking trick described in many places where you put ?r=<randomnumber> at the end of a URL no longer works. Not exactly sure what happened, but it now causes a URL not found error, at least for me when I'm loading local files off my disk.

i setup alwaysOnTop="true" in mx:WindowedApplication alwaysOnTop="true" tag. but this does not work in MAC but works in windows.

View 6 RepliesI've been developing a fairly simple presentation in CS4, AS3, OSX, which runs as a standalone projector.Everything was working for a while, but now for no apparent reason, any file I publish as a projector starts the Flash Player app, but the projector does not appear or play.Older versions that I had already published will play correctly, but if I re-publish them they do not work any more.

Whenever I remove an event listener to a button then that button no longer works. Does it cause memory leaks to not remove these listeners.....come to think of it I have about 30 eventListeners that I cannot remove otherwise the application ceases to function correctly. Is my application a memory black hole? How should i proceed with garbage collection?

It used to work perfectly.I have now placed the button inside a movie clip (it has to be in an animated sequence), but now it no longer works. It appears to work fine, the rollover state works and all. View 10 RepliesI'm having this strange problem with the progress bar in the gallery section of my site. I made the site on flash.Go to the English section and click any image. you'll see the progress bar not working but wait a bit untill the gallery loads. There's no close button but if move your mouse pointer to the up right corner it's there, click it. Now click on the same image and you'll notice that now the progress bar and close button works fine.url.. It's weird because when i publish the site and test it on my computer it works fine. But when i upload the files to the server this happens. The preloader only works when it's in the computer cache.

View 1 RepliesChanged AS3 defualt linkage to merged into code, and now my flash file will not load into firefox. It works fine in Chrome, but IE8 and firefox site at frame 1 of my movie, and no code is executed. Works perfectly in chrome. What do I do?the reason i changed to merged into code is because i made an imbeded preloader, and using preloader method as custom preloader loop and setting default linkage to Runtime Shared Library (RSL) borks the file.
View 13 RepliesI have a website [URL] there is a flash gallery, every time I have to clear magento cache and browser cache to display my new images but now I've made few changes in swf file that before the smaller bars are not left aligned now there are both. In my local system the new swf file shows exact number of images in the smaller bars but in server they are not showing in full numbers.
I don't know what to do as I've cleared every cache that I can. I've read some where that put version number in your swf file so that brower can check if its new then it will download new but in magento how to do that. As the swf file contents are in cms pages home page content and they have done as :

how to version the swf file and how to clear cache.
I had FMS 3.5 developer package installed on my server installed about a month ago. I used to be able to go to the /webroot/ page to see the sample RTMP video play and it worked great. Today, I go to view that page and find that it no longer plays. I get "Connection Error. Please preee Play to try again."
Pressing the play button does nothing, so I click the RTMP thumbnail and it reloads ony to give me that same error again. I can click the HTTP thumbnail and see the video play just fine. But, I want RTMP and after over an hour on the phone with my managed hosting tech, we can't find anything wrong.
Here's the thing: I haven't done anything, I have not changed anything, I have not manipulated the server software whatsoever. It just stopped working and gives me "Connection Error."

Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. View 1 Replies I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

Recently I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 32 bit on my HP laptop, and installed all the CS4 applications of Design Premium. The installation went fine, and almost all the updates (Photoshop 11.0.1, InDesign 6.0.4, etc..) installed with no problems. The only one It doesn't allow me to install is the Flash 10.0.2 update. It gives an error that "the installer detected a problem and cannot continue" and then shows some options to ignore the update.

How does Adobe Flash launch auto-update message as soon as I logon on Windows? I thought Flash is only a browser plugin. I tried look for the program it runs, but can't find it in all the usual places: Start Up group in Start Menu, HKLM Run, HKCU Run, Services.
I know it is possible to disable this via Flash preferences. However, I need to remove it mechanically once and for all, because it seems like a security risk to me (as hackers would be able to exploit a Flash installation even if the browser has not been launched).

I've only been able to test on his machine, but I'm pretty sure it seems to be a windows problem,and not just his machine. Not much going on as far as code. But, I'd love to preload the browser cache (not my main movie) with all 3 so that when I do load them, they load quickly. I don't want to load and unload them from my main movie, as that bogs down the movie. Is there a way to get the browser to pre-load them?

main.swf is my 1st file which i embedded in index.html by using actionscript 2.0 dynamically i am loading the external files ( which is about.swf, sevices.swf.. ) whenever i click a specific button it loads a specific swf file. which works perfectly fine with me. but it gets really annoying each time i have to load the files and wait for the files to get loaded. i wanted a javascript or actionscript code which will load all my external swf files invisibly in the cache of the browser while browsing the website. So that whenever i click a button its load instantly without waiting to load again.

I have been updating my flash pages, and so many people cant see the changes, because they have to reset their cache in the browser .. which is fine for any savvy internet user .. but there's a lot o folks out there who dont recognise this action .. are there any tips to talk to the browser that changes have been made?

Games can usually be easily retrieved from the browser's cache and then decompiled, which is not good for their developer but I can't say the same about many flash sites (not all of course).

Chances are the entire swf is not loaded into flash's active memory at the time I clear the browser cache (especially for sites that use large rsl libraries such as papervision3d). I can verify this with flash-builder's profiling tools. So, where are the swf libraries kept on disk (or in memory somewhere else?) which allow the site to continue to function?

I have set the ETAG and last-modified tag in http reponse header, but sometimes, when the user click the refresh, the swf file still be reloaded.
