View 10 RepliesJust thought I'd share that after the windows update I did this week, the browser cache blocking trick described in many places where you put ?r=<randomnumber> at the end of a URL no longer works. Not exactly sure what happened, but it now causes a URL not found error, at least for me when I'm loading local files off my disk.
This thread talks about the cache blocking trick:

I have a website [URL] there is a flash gallery, every time I have to clear magento cache and browser cache to display my new images but now I've made few changes in swf file that before the smaller bars are not left aligned now there are both. In my local system the new swf file shows exact number of images in the smaller bars but in server they are not showing in full numbers.
I don't know what to do as I've cleared every cache that I can. I've read some where that put version number in your swf file so that brower can check if its new then it will download new but in magento how to do that. As the swf file contents are in cms pages home page content and they have done as :
<script src="{{skin url='js/flashobject.js'}}" type="text/javascript"></script>
<div id="flashcontent"
class="a-center"><a
href="http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH">
[code]...
how to version the swf file and how to clear cache.
I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
View 1 RepliesI have a little problem when i update a page(swf) of a flash website. I use Filezilla to update new swfs and the strange thing is that new pages only appear after 3 to 5 days.Does anybody know the solution to that cache problem as it is annoying to update the new swfs and only see the result after 3 to 5 days

View 2 RepliesFor my project i am creating a quiz on the Romans. There are only three questions that the user must answer with three possible answers in frames 3,4 and 5.I want to know the code that would help me to allow a Jpeg (an evaluation of the answer given on each frame) to be placed on frame 6 ready for the user to receive feedback for each answer they have given. So when the user selects an answer, the corresponding jpeg to that answer is placed ready on frame 6 for their arrival after they have answered the third question.
View 1 RepliesI've been looking for days now and can't find an answer to this problem (even within the apache community).My swf plays fine when loaded outside of the local server, just clicking the swf or the html page loading it.It also plays fine in the .fla preview.When I uploaded it on my webspace, it worked as well.I tried playing it on my localhost at work and it worked...ache 2.0), it doesn't work.What I found out is the swf will play if I remove some images, which is why I think it might be a size related issue. Like, when the swf file is smaller than 50ko it works, when it gets bigger (75ko for exemple) it doesn't.I've seen some issues when the server tries to compress the files, etc, but I don't think it's the case as I tried with and without mod_deflate with no change at all.I've also seen issues related to firewalls, so I tried disabling my firewall, my anti-virus and anything I could think of. No change...
View 3 RepliesOk I'm trying to make a small thing on a website that will allow the user to update the news themselves.... after reading up on it i found that to export a textfile in this way I would have to have a serverside script to execute it for me (PHP in my case)... I did it, but it isnt working..

View 1 RepliesI'm working on a project that includes several flash elements developed using an XML method. The objects work fine in all browsers except IE. Here is the behavior in IE. You can interact with the objects fine the first time through, but if you leave the page and come back, you just get a perpetual loading symbol. You can get the object back by right clicking and pressing play, but that is an obnoxious work around. I think it is a caching error in IE, but I'm unsure how to fix it given that it is not occurring in other browsers.
View 1 RepliesIm developing an interactive in wich I use many animations either frame-by-frame (image-by-image) or with an embedded flv in the timeline and I have noticed that all of them don't play smoothly when first played, but once the animation has occured once they play the way its supposed to be. Im assuming is because once played an animation gets into the machine cache or something, so I wanna know if there is any way to force an animation to get into the display cache before is played.
View 6 RepliesI use xp with windows 2000 and firefox.This is used for facebook games and have been advised to clear the Flash cache. Found the page with the information on it but it doesn't make sense where to start the process.
View 1 RepliesI don't want Flash to store the video and image files it pulls in when I test publish the swf. Somewhere it's keeping those files in cache, making it impossible to test a realistic download situation ( such as loading indicators, buffering bars, etc ) because the 'loading' file is immediately available in its entirety due to being stored in cache.

View 3 RepliesWill flash CS5 get an update which will allow it to create .APK files for the android platform, like it was supposed to be able to do for iPhone?(before apple denied that kind ofdevelopment)
That would be a dream come true and would be a really good reason to upgrade to a CS5 license after the trialperiod is over.

View 2 Replieshow we can update the Flash IDE player, or the player used when testing a movie (sometimes called the Test Movie player)?In the case of CS3, when you download the latest sets of players and replace the "Players" folder, you'll still test the movie in version 9,0,115,0 As you might know, this player version has a bug: When loading an AS2 movie that has a MovieClipLoader into an AS3 movie, the AS2 movie's eventListeners for the MovieClipLoader fail.

I was wondering if anyone knows whether you can update flash display ads dynamically in real-time without having to create a new flash ads? Example being changing text or graphics within an ad without having to make a new one and uploading it to the ad server over and over again. I imagine some sort of actionscript would be involved

I have an .fla file where I'm trying to change some of the links. Say it currently goes to index-1.html and I want to change to aboutus.html.
I can't seem to locate where the actual link designation is .. from the documentation on Flash forums it should be in Actions, however I can't seem to find it.
So Flash CS5 came with a beta version of Flash Player 10.1.Now that the official release of Flash Player 10.1 is released, how do I update what Flash CS5 uses when I Test Movie?I have so far updated the Flash Player in my browser and my standalone players but I can't seem to figure out how to update the Player that Flash CS5 uses.This wouldn't be so bad if the beta of 10.1 wasn't breaking my project because of bugs.
View 2 RepliesWhy didn't my Flash version change after I invoked the update alert on 08/12/10. I had V 10.1.53.64 and your website shows the latest recommended to be V 10.1.82.76. After the update it shows mine still unchanged.
My system particulars are:
XP SP2 32 bit
IE V6.0.2900 32 bit
My agency would like to handle updates manually rather thenhave users (appox. 1000+ users in one physical location) prompted toupdate the Flash
