Whenever I test or publish a CS5 movie that uses TLF text (no matter which font), the .swf displays all elements but the text. There's simply nothing there. I'm on a mac with Snow Leopard, 10.6.7. This only happens as soon as I pass the 1000 frame limit (before, everything displays fine). Reaching wit's end here. Anyone know what causes this, and more specifically, how to solve it?
View 1 RepliesI have a counting movie which displays numbers from 1 to 1000 (action scripts) in a dynamic text box. First 1 and then 2 and so on. It works very well. I convert this movie to a movie clip and drag this new movie clip to the main stage on frame 1, but anything happens now.
View 14 RepliesUsing CS 5.5, I am using a single scene with buttons that all appear on the first frame along with code snippet AS also on the first frame that when clicked, takes the user to a different frame. Everything seems to work fine, except, after you go to frame 15 and click on one of the buttons that take you to one of the earlier frames, the text from frame 15 still displays on those earlier frames. The text on frame 15 is on a different layer and does not exist anywhere else until frame 15.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently working on a JibJab style project where a third party agency have done an animation. Now we have tracked the head motions in AE CS4 and done an export to Flash using XFL, and the motion does not work.
Before this we have done several tests to see if this method would work, so we know it actually does work, but the tests where only a couple of 100 frames long, now the project is over 1500 frames.
The final animation is 60 sec, 25f/s, and after importing the motion into FLASH using XFL nothing happens. The motion is there if we look in the motion editor, the image is there, but nothing happens when i scrub back and forth. This all worked like a charm with the test projects. AND if i try and rightclick the picture or motion editor FLASH freezes, so i know something is REALLY wrong here.
After four hours of bug hunting i have isolated the problem to the number of frames you try to import into FLASH. If the end sequence is more than 1000 frames (exactly!) a extra keyframe is added on the first frame in the motion editor, so there is TWO keyframes on the first frame, where there should only be possible to have one. This happens only if the sequence is more then 1000 frames. If i take the same sequence and export if from AE so its less then 1000 frames everything is fine.
I have attached a screenshot of the extra keyframe that apears in the motion editor. It's allso noteworthy that this extra keyframe can't be changed or adjusted as it does not actualy "excist".
I would like to have this bug confirmed by someone and if someone has a solution? Right now im looking at cutting up the export into "999 frames" sections and then patch it together again in Flash.
I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.

View 6 RepliesI'm using Flex3 building my AS3 projects for some 3D effects. I am going to create 1000 polygons(or rectangles) on the scene, without texture mapping. It seems the native 3D api of AS3 needs quite a lot memory:

here i created 1000 sp on the scene, the runtime memory cost seems to be more than 60MB. if increase to 2000, memory goes to 120MB. It seems the FVM's native 3D api generates a bitmap texture for each sprite, it's pretty memory costing. The alternative way may be is to draw the projected vertices of the sprites frame by frame by using local3DToGlobal and drawTriangles() to render the scene, but that could be slower. So is there any way to render many instances using the native 3D feature with costing much memory?
I'm working on a Flash presentation, and I have a lot of text pages with buttons and movie clips on. The problem I have is that all subheads are set to size 35pt using Helvetica Neue Heavy, but on a couple of the pages a random subhead is displaying a lot larger than 35pt (I'd say 50pt) but it is definitely set to size 35pt in the Character palette. I have no idea why this is happening and it's driving me mad.
View 1 RepliesI recently hired a programmer to design a flash health calculator for my website. It works great and text shows up correctly when viewing online and standalone. The problem starts when I try to edit the file. I wanted to change some text in an action layer. That seems to work out fine but when I try to publish I get garbled text.
I should also mention that when loading the file I get a Font Mapping dialog box stating "The document 'x' contains one or more fonts not available on your system. The text will display and publish with the font mapping below:". I have tried to select various fonts in this dialog box but still get garbled text.
When I publish I also get this on the Output box: "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."
Here is my problem. I have a file set to 1000 pixels in height and length. My image covers that size. I am trying to create a series of panels that are lined up next to each other and than motion tween it so it looks like the background is moving. I am creating each panel by copying and pasting it and placing them next to each other so it forms a single large line. However, the screen does not allow me to see everything and tends to cut off my panels and I don't know how to fix this. I have it set as "Show All" and it still does not work.
I was told to covert it to background strips dynamically. Can someone tell me how to do this step by step?

I am very new to Flash and am trying to work out how to fade in some text in a text box over a space of about 60 frames (25frs)

I have added a menu to my game, and now certain text for the game does not appear unless I quickly double click the text field. Everything non-text works. The Sidebar is an instance of Sidebar movieclip which has two text fields that I added in the flash IDE, both with correct instance names. I have embedded my fonts, and tracing the text of the textField gives the correct number, without any return lines or whitespaces. The "double click shows text" is only for my countdown time.
My other score text field does not display no matter what, not even the text I set in the flash IDE. The only thing I can think of why is maybe flash stops rendering it because I have another menu movieclip that I set the alpha to 0 on stage that might overlay the text fields, however removing the menu movieclip does not fix the problem. Right clicking on the text field, select all, copy, paste gives the correct number.

I have created a movie with 8 frames in and each frame uses the same template and buttons of which are in exactly the same place as the movie plays. The problem is some of the text within the buttons is appears to be slightly out of allignment but it only happens when viewing this on different computers - the laptop I have been working on does not should this, everything looks to be in perfect allignment; the movie will be viewable on the web so it needs to look good!

I have created a flash website and have encountered a problem. I am using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0.I have created a text box (at the moment it is Dynamic because I have it scrolling) with text entered into it. I want hyperlink sections of the text to other frames within the flash movie. The text box is on the "news" frame - this is a page for archived news. View 3 RepliesI have recently taken over a project started by another person who has been let go due to lack of performance and other issues.He has created a FLA file and an .exe file. But I am have been asked to place the movie on to the internet.The FLA file that I have will not let me publish an SWF file to be uploaded to the internet, in fact it will not let me publish anything.I have changed the publish setting but when I go to publish it the SWF file is not created.I just want this file in SWF format and for it to autoplay when the website is loaded.
Extra Information: I have used a exe to swf converter to convert the EXE file that was already made into a SWF file for the internet. This does make an swf file but the file is not editable and will not autoplay once it is uploaded.
Any movie whatsover (i.e. any file in any location on my drive) cannot be published (including test movie via Command-Enter) because I get this error:
"Error creating SWF movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long."
The file name isn't too long, and I am logged in as an administrator on the machine. All folders I have tried to publish to are unlocked and I have read/write priveliges to them. This is a new install of CS4 and has been updated to the very latest version (and it didn't work before the update, not does it work after). This is NOT to do with my specific permissions. This is a clean install of Flash CS4 Professional on a very new Macbook Pro running OS 10.5.7.
For the record, I just want to say that I think it is totally absurd that Adobe shipped Flash CS5 with the ability to ONLY publish AIR 2.0 apps...which hasn't been publicly released yet. I've been working on an AIR app for several weeks and needed to upgrade from Flash CS3 to CS5 to take advantage of the new Text Layout Framework. Now, my app can't be installed by my customers because I can't publish for a version of AIR they can access!! How this decision got made baffles me. Adobe needs to be on top of their game these days and this blunder makes it that much more difficult to defend the Flash/AIR platform that I love so much. Flame over.
Now, for the workaround I've discovered. To get Flash CS5 to publish an AIR 1.5 file, I first published an AIR 2.0 app. Then I went into the app descriptor xml file and changed the version from 2.0 to 1.5 <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.5"> Then I deleted the xml nodes in that same file that are specific to AIR 2.0 (<visible>, <fullScreen>, <autoOrients>, <aspectRatio>, <renderMode>). I locked the app descriptor file so it couldn't be changed by the next publish. Then I deleted the previously created .air file and the .swf file. I then republished the app from CS5 and it was able to install under the publically available version of AIR (1.5.3.9130).
i recently purchased a flash template online, to edit for my own site and I can edit it no problem. The problem is, after I publish it. If i want to reopen the program after i closed it to modify it again, all my buttons and text on the template turn into grey boxes around the buttons and the text disappears..

I signed up as a developer and got my certificate and provisioning profile and I am trying to follow tutorials to publish a simple iphone app and get it on my phone but Flash CS5.5 crashes every time during the publish phase. It says publishing 1:20 remaining and usually with about 25 seconds left it freezes up and crashes.

It's so weird.I seperated the Image Slide show component from the Scroller... the scroller had the same effect... didn't display in FF.Played around with WmodeChecked my code for addChild problems, visibilty, alpha properties... nothing out of the ordinary.Asked God.Drank some Gin.Took a break and came back to it.I've reseached Google and the most I could come up with is to compile using FP10. It is FP10. I'm using CS3 and FlashDevelop. When I right click on my Flash file, it does indeed display FP10. Same with Flex.

I've been using Flash for 10 years and I've never seen this problem with images after publishing. I've also worked with graphics for many years, but I can't seem to figure out what could be causing this problem with Flash compling this image.
The image is RGB, the image displays properly when opened in other applications on my computer, it also displays properly in the Flash library and on the stage. I've imported it as PNG and JPG, but neither of them work. The other graphics in my fla file look fine. When I publish/compile the Flash file, all the colors are messed up - you can barely make out the graphic, it looks all digitzed and pixelated, with major color distortions. I've tried adjusting the publish jpg quality, but that doesn't help. I'm convinced this is a bug in Flash, since I have the same problem when I publish on the laptop and on my desktop, but I'm not sure.
Yes correct I'm talking about Flash Player 11, thats what it says in Flash CS5 software. Whatever I do in Publish Setting, Flash software always returns option to be Flash Player 11, I don't get this. I choose Flash Player 8 and AS 2.0 and re-open Publish Settings it is again back on Flash Player 11 and AS 3.0.

this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time. While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this.
I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.

I have Flash MX and Quicktime 7. All I want to do is publish my movie as quicktime. But when I do I get the error message, "The installed version of QuickTime does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia Flash movie". So... after a little digging I found out its a issue with flash 6, and changed the flash version to 5! But It still wont work! What on earth am i doing wrong?
