ActionScript 3.0 :: Duplicate A MovieClip And Keep Absolutely Everything Inside The Clip Intact?
Oct 7, 2009
I'm having an issue with duplicating movie clips in actionscript 3.The code I'm using is:
Code:
var screen1 = new screenTemp();
addChild(container1);
Where screenTemp is the class i set under the movie clips:
properties->export for actionscript
The object is successfully added to the stage, however it is loosing all of the actionscript and 3d rotation that i have set up in the original movie clip.How do i duplicate a MovieClip and keep absolutely everything inside the clip intact?
Is it possible to use duplicateMovieClip to copy a movieClip into another movieclip, or is it only possible to duplicate it inside one and the same containermovieclip?
I have a movieclip, "holder", that has a lot of movieclips contained inside of it. I am trying to duplicate "holder", as well as all of the movieclips inside of it and create a 2nd movieclip called "holder2". Below is an example of the problem I am having. The movieclip "holder2" is created, but it does not duplicate the movieclip "box" that is inside of "holder". Is it possible to do this using duplicateMovieClip? If not, is there another way of accomplishing the same thing?
I have 170 images that I need to place on the same place on the left side of the stage and and have them move across the stage one at a time, increase in size and then fade out after 10 sec. The sequence then continues for all 169 images. My initial thoughts are to animate the first image inside a movie clip, duplicate it and swap the image. When I tried this it worked fine until the image had shape tweened to the larger size (at this point the image displays for 10 sec and fades out). At the key frame at this point the image changed back to the original one. What do I need to do to make the new image visible throughout the whole movie clip when I swap the image like this? Is there a better way to produce this type of animation? I am using Flash Professional 8 and quite new to the world of Flash and Action Script.
Id be grateful if anyone can answer what should be a simple problem. Im building a Flash program that has many movie clips (like they all do). At one stage I need to duplicate a specific movie clip and make it appear in another movie clip.
PS: The movie clip needs to be added by actionscript as it is made on the fly in the program, hence it cant be in the original .fla file if that makes sense.
i've got 48 small movieclips named "1clip", "2clip", etc. all the way up to "48clip." I want to do something with them all and use a loop to affect them all the same way.
[Code]...
but that doesn't seem to work. are variables and instance names interchangeable? my lClip var traces out of course, but the lClip.imagHolder.loadMovie never happens (clip inside the clip).
I want to apply actions to a movieClip nested inside a dynamicly attached movieClip, with the attachMovie method; it doesn't works when the movieClip is attached by a button:
1.when the swf movie loads with an attachMovie method the remove_btn clears the window_mc
My problem is that when I click the letter movieclip it does create the duplicate as it should and it starts to drag the duplicate mc. However, when I release the clip it doesn't stop dragging? I realized that if I put onMouseUP event instead of onRelease it actually does stop dragging when I release the mouse. I would, however not like to use the onMouseUP event if possible.
My buttons work fine in the main time line, but I need to place them in frame 1 of a mc_pages, I get an error about it saying "the statement must appear within on/onClipEvent handler". And I just can't figure out how to do that to save my life. If pc's were cheap their would be a pile of them outside on the curb. I'm thinking I need to split up this action and place some on frame 1 of the main time line and keep some for for my button on frame 1 of pages, but what part? how?
My button loads a new swf in the mc placeholder. btn01.onRelease = function () { // let's first unload the current movie, to refresh the cache (placeholder.unloadMovie()); // SETUP THE MAIN VIDEO PLAYER autoPlay = "true"; // autoLoop = "false"; // [Code] .....
Basically I have a movieclip that when I roll_over it reveals two buttons that I then need to use to remove movieclips that are on the same stage as the original movie clip. So the button inside the movieclip needs to remove a different movieclip that is also up on level.I've tried this many different ways, none seem to work. The error that I keep getting is undefined property of "grey_mc." And yes I made sure it has an instance name of grey_mc on the main stage. my code looks like:
Code: removeButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler); function clickHandler(event:MouseEvent) {
I have attached the file to this document, but basically I have a street scene which will eventually have about 5-6 people walking along the stage.
Currently on rollover of a button within the movie "movement_clip" my button will go to the overstate which shows a still of the animated women standing still. However...what I want to do on rollover, is I also want to pause "movement_clip" wherever it is in the process and then continue from where it got paused on rollout.
I have written the drag and drop function for a movie clip this movie clip has a animation inside of it, this is on a seperate layer. When i play the swf, the animation and the movie clip it was inside become individual objects. How do I make these two objects into one entity?
I have several website pages set up on different frames inside the content (which is a movieclip) of the home page - which is on frame 1 of the main timeline. The content movieclip name is contentMc.
My About page is at frame 10. There is a button on this page (called btnAbout_contactpg) that I want to make jump to my Contact page (frame 50) - all of which is nested under the main contentMc movieclip.
This is the pathway on my contentMc (where all of my pages are located), just in case that doesn't make sense: [URL]
I have looked at several different instructions online, but none of them seem to work.
EDIT:
I am also trying to get a button on my gallery page to load an external image, but it is not recognizing where the button is either:
btnGallery_1.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, showPic1); function showPic1 (e:MouseEvent) { var target:Object=e.target; var parent=target.parent; my_loader.load(new URLRequest("image-0.jpg")); }
i have made all my buttons by movie clips and all the different pages movie clips, but i have movie clip buttons, inside those movie clip pages, and cannot figure out how to make these movie buttons inside the movie clip work when that specific page is loaded, the"links" inside that movie clip page, how do i make that link to go to the next page.
I am currently trying to make a photo gallery using flash. I have made a scrolling menu and want to incorperate it into the photo gallery, but, my photo gallery uses the onRelease function. My scrolling menu requires the movie clips to be inside another movie clip called panel. Is there a way to add the onRelease function to a movie clip INSIDE another movie clip? Here is the code for the scrolling menu:
Is there any obscure, standard E4X way of filtering XML so that the results are returned with the tree structure with all parents intact?Similar to e.g. this:Code:var selectedNodes:XMLList = content..thumbnail;But this returns only the matching nodes as a flat XMLList. I would like instead like to strip out all branches that don't ultimately contain a thumbnail element, but maintain branch leading down to the matched node.Like this:
Like when pressing (not clicking!!!) the windows |X| button on the game window. Is that possible? Or will I have to write custom pause function? :S I have a very complicated program, and now I want to add PAUSE button.
Im able to link to a movieclip inside a movieclipUnfortunately one of the movieclips now are a scrollbar and scroll. Now the actionscript isnt working?cal.onPress = function() {gotoAndPlay(2);message1.contentMain.message.total = unit1;
I have several movie clips on the stage. They are draggable. I want to be able to drag the movie clip, then when it is dropped, a copy of that movie clip will appear where the first one had been, and the first one will just stay where it is on the screen.
However, I'm running into problems with the syntax.
I posted last month about how to duplicate a movie with a mc in the library in the timeline. [URL] except now my code strategy has changed since and now I need to duplicate mc casted from objects loaded from an XML file, and I create a class file for easier xml management. My goal is to make a wrap around effects for animated menu icons that use separate swf files. this is the function I try to create, but my concern is in the else statement:
Why this code is not working. Here I have a movie clip named 'mainmovie' in the scene. And inside that movie I have a text box named 'textBox' Look at this code the movie is duplicating in my code but the value is not coming inside the text box...
I have found a little FLA which demonstrates how the duplicate movie clip can be used.I tried to simplify and adjust the AS according to my needs. With some part i was successful but with some i wasn't.
i want to be able to set the beginning X position of the clips as "0" in X values. but when i assign "0" to the this._x , it naturally generates/duplicates all the clips at the same point. What I'm trying to achieve by doing this is, when the stage is scaled in means of width my clips should start to originate from the very left of the stage whatever the stage's width is.
my second question is how can i adjust the speed?When I stretch the stage width they(duplicated clips) all speed up in order to travel the whole stage in the same amount of time as they do with the initial/beginning stage width. I want the speed to stay constant whatever the distance is.
