I have to duplicate a movie clip on a movie, to make an endless scrolling menu. The problem is I don't know real well how to do it, I can do it fine with graphics but it looks like not possible to do it with mc.here's a sample of my code I am trying to attemp

I am programming a side-scrolling game. I want to be able to control the speed of the endless side-scrolling background relative to the speed and position the player is moving at.
I want to know how to do a few things:
Like, if the player is running, the background scrolls faster. If the Player is walking, the background scrolls slower. If the player isn't Moving, the background shouldn't be moving. If the it is at the start
Or end of the level, the background should stop moving too.

I'm trying to create a endlessly scrolling bitmap background. I want to make it as efficient as possible as there is plenty of other game logic going on too. The idea is to have a repeatable bitmap scroll horizontally on an endless loop, which can obviously be achieved by placing two sprites of the same bitmap next to each other and offsetting one when it reaches the far left boundary. I was wondering if there is perhaps a faster more efficient way to do this, perhaps using scrollRect or copyPixels? If anyone has any idea which method would be fastest,
View 1 RepliesThe menu will consist of Main headings and Sub headings that will appear when the Main headings are clicked.The Headings are displayed within movie clips that are generated via duplicateMovieClip()I have attached actionscript to the timeline of a movieclip and it loads and displays the Main headings with no problem.On the one movie clip that I am duplicating, I have an on(press) action that is supposed to generate the Sub headings using the same duplicateMovieClip technique. This is where I run into trouble. I cannot get the Sub headings to generate. Can you specify duplicateMovieClip() within the on(press) function of a movieclip that was already duplicated?

However, when I release the clip it doesn't stop dragging? I realized that if I put onMouseUP event instead of onRelease it actually does stop dragging when I release the mouse. View 1 RepliesI've created a menu that appears as a series of cubes. The action script for these boxes will work on a stand alone file... The main menu uses a series of buttons that work like variables and also works fine in a test file... when the movie for the "architecture" button is loaded it loads the content_mc and then sub menu goes nuts. The buttons continue to cycle their movie clips regardless of the mouse position.

Im making a scrollable mc. Easiest thing in the world.... but the damn scoller just will not stop when the movie clip it's scrolling ends. It stops....eventully... but not close enough. What actionscript do I need to use and where do I put it?

Right now, it activates and scrolls even when I'm not hovering over the menu. My canvas is about 800x400 and the scroll over menu is only 200x350. I tried: on rollover disable but that did not work.

I did a xml image gallery, with buttons for each image (using the duplicateMovieClip function + a for loop).Now i went to next step, I need to make a scroll for the menu, BUT, i don't have any idea how to set something to happen after the for loop is done.

Just for a simple test (since i noticed what i tried wasn't working well), I added a test movie clip and added a _visibile = false to be executed, i added it right after the closing of the for loop. I didn't had sucess thou, it happened before the loop .
