ActionScript 3.0 :: External File Is Loaded Or Not?

I have one text file which i am loading externally from my local machine. I am trying to read some variables from this file.
my problem: if the text file somehow fails to load in flash then it should load variables from HTML file from which my swf is running. But i am not able to check if this text file is loaded or not.
my code: (working if text file is present)

I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

I have a Flex application that loads some data from the database. During this I want my custom preloader stay visible. When I postpone the dispatchEvent( new Event(Event.COMPLETE)) in the FlexEvent.INIT_COMPLETE handler, the loading will never happen because the next frame is not entered. How can I keep the loader running until all the data is fully loaded?

I've searched for a good while but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:How to catch all errors of an external SWF file when it's loaded?The story:I'm building a flash app that would upload and then load any user-created SWF file and display it if it doesn't throw errors.I've tried to use try/catch statement but it doesn't seem to catch internal errors of the loaded SWF.

One being ... at the moment when a FLVPlayback is imported onto the stage and a user clicks on the exit button before the video it has fully loaded onto the stage, the video keeps loading in the background. I want it to be completely removed and stop loading when the exit button is click... because at the moment it slows the users internet down and the sound also plays in the background when its been fully loaded... The video interface seem to be removed but not the whole thing.
It is also happening to me when I use addChild to load a external JPEG... if the user exits before it is fully loaded to the stage... it keeps loading in the background.[code]...

I've got button events that load swf files into the main movie. Within the loaded swfs are additional buttons. When these buttons are clicked I want the targeted swfs to replace the current swf. I guess I don't understand how to reference the Loader var within the main movie.
Currently, when the links are clicked in the loaded swfs, the movies are loaded on top, rather than replacing them.[code]...

i have one simple question. I did simple scrollbar for text which is loaded from external file. But, if the text in textfield is too short ( few words ) I dont want scrollbar to roll.

I am loading external text file in flash and i am trying to trace progress so i could use it to show user how far loading is completed.
And i have i problem as i only get my trace after my text is completly loaded and shown in flash. only than i see progress in my trace window. Do you have any idea why? I am using one frame on one layer i have text field that i need for my text and another layer with code

In my project I have five video files that I need to all play simultaneously. I'd like the user to be unable to play them until they are fully loaded, because of course streaming would mean they wouldn't necessarily be playing at synchronized times any more.
So I need to load them all entirely, and have a single button that the user clicks to get them all to play simultaneously.

I managed to load in an external swf file okay however, I need to be able to remove it when the user clicks a link to go back to the homepage. Below is my code:

I am using the transition preloader on url]... to load in external swfs (http:url...). I have Spark's calendar component on one of the external swfs. All text appears fine when testing the calendar page itself but the text seems to disappear when it's loaded as an external swf into the main file. Is this a path issue?

I've tried setting the dynamic text object to render as HTML and added some HTML code in the .txt file, but that doesn't work.

I have a preloader.swf that loads another swf (main.swf). It all works fine, however I would like the loading bar to stay on 100 (once it gets there) for 2-3 seconds before the main.swf opens, currently as expected from the code below, as soon as it gets to 100% it flicks straight over to the main.swf.
I am using tweener, and I could achieve this easily using the onComplete code to call this.addChild(loader);, however, the problem is, both my preloader and my main swf are liquid layouts, and if I were to call the this.addChild(loader); at the end in its own function, then it throws a
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
. The only way to get around this error is to put the this.addChild(loader); so that it loads upfront. After a bit of google research, i found this error occurs due to the stage properties already been set in the preloader.swf (from liquid layout)then once the main.swf loads it tries to set them again...So is there another way i can cause a delay for 2-3 seconds once my preloader hits 100?

Problem that I want to share with you is that I have two external swf. One is swf generated by Flex IDE and second one is generated by Flash IDE. When I load flex swf, loading progress output is not showing until the whole file is loaded. This problem is not presented when I load flash swf as you can see on this testing page 90.157.198.254/test/test.php.

I have a flash file (a flash navigation bar actually, which gets loaded in all the webpages inside the website). What I am trying to do is place an external swf file on it in a desired position when the corresponding page is being loaded. I am using FlashVars (variable name -> 'movieName') to pass the name of the movie clips. These variables are read by the navigation swf file and the corresponding swf file should be loaded in the area specified. Now, to create a container, I am using createEmptyMovieClip() method which will host all the external swf files.
The swf files are all being loaded but with a lot of problems. First, no matter what I try, the swf file comes at a fixed place (which is way off from where it is supposed to be). I have tried checking if the container loaded the movie before fixing its position but it changed nothing. Although it did change the position of a weird background colour box I am getting when the movie starts loading - which brings me to the second problem.
A rectangular box flashes once when the external swf is loaded, and its position is being affected by whatever I am setting the _x & _y values of the container movies to. I have no idea why it is happening as it doesn't happen when I test that swf seperately.
