I have a gfx which I have created 6 shapes and converted them into simple buttons. I have urls sat inside an xml file. How can I get the buttons to use the urls set from within the xml file?Also how can I change the current external photo that is being loaded to load the url from a setting in the same xml file.

I have a main movie and into it I am loading an external SWF, using loadMovie("myclip", target_mc). I want my main timeline to be able to tell where my loaded movie is, and when the loaded mc (myclip.swf) reaches frame 20, i want my main timeline to do another action (like, start playing a sound). How do I accomplish that? How do I check what is the current frame of the external mc?

I am trying to load an external swf (c2) from my current swf c1. On the last frame of c1, I have entered this code

c2holder is the movie clip holder inside c1. The problem here is not only is c2 not loading, the stop() is also being ignored and the entire movie loops back to the start. My movie clip nesting is this

its like this, i have a main swf, lets call it "loader_swf", inside the loader_swf i create a movie clip called "holder_mc" which loads an external swf, lets call it "ex_swf". The ex_swf has a movie clip in frame 2 which is the main animation of ex_swf. Is it possible to get the current frame number of the movie clip holding the animation on frame 2? the only thing i know is to get the current frame of main timeline of ex_swf.

After the set of 6 pictures plays through the text is supposed to disappear and a new text appears to label the next set of 6 pictures. Problem is: the text doesn't disappear! I made all the text layers a symbol/movie clip. I animated each text to disappear at a certain point in the timeline but when I test the movie the texts just remain there and build up one after the other. When watching the movieclip, pay attention to the text in the lower left screen.

I have 20 frames on a timeline, and a mc in the frames. Frame 1 the mc is _alpha 0%, at frame 20 the _alpha is 100%. A tween between the frames fades up the mc alpha. How can I change the frame 20 _alpha setting from outside the swf file? Say I need the alpha to be 60% at frame 20 BUT I can't open up the FLA, can I adjust the Alpha setting (using Loadvars perhaps) without going back into the FLA? I won't have access to the FLA (when the file is online) and I want to be able to manipulate the frame 20 _alpha setting. I have tried doing this totally in actionscript and not using the timeline, but if I can't get that to work I will need to be able to adjust the alpha parameter without editing the FLA.

The gallery has different image catagories that load their own set of images.The user decided which catatgory they'd like to view by clicking an HTML button in the flash movies parent page...using javascript, this button click sends a variable to the root level of the flash movies with the new XML location...
Trouble is, onces the initial XML file is loaded, the movie has no need to refresh (and read the newly sent variable) ...*Unfortunately the catagory buttons MUST be outside the movie on the page...

View 1 RepliesIve created a shape that i want to resize as it enters different frames. The shape is meant to act like a window behind info in a webpage. Ive managed to get it to tween OK at the moment, but i cant get it to change for each frame it enters. For example, i can get it to grow from 0 - 100% in the first frame, and if i move to a different frame it might need to be bigger, then in a different frame a new size again. Ive tried creating a variable currentWidth which will allow me to detect what size it is and then change accordingly, but it seems to be having trouble updating.

These are basic invisible hotspot - button symbols. The buttons typically navigated to different frames. I am curious why the cursor change fails when loaded through the main movie, but works when run on its own.

View 2 RepliesStructure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.
