ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading External Swf - Progress Output Is Not Showing Until The Whole File Is Loaded
Oct 4, 2010
Problem that I want to share with you is that I have two external swf. One is swf generated by Flex IDE and second one is generated by Flash IDE. When I load flex swf, loading progress output is not showing until the whole file is loaded. This problem is not presented when I load flash swf as you can see on this testing page 90.157.198.254/test/test.php.
I am loading external text file in flash and i am trying to trace progress so i could use it to show user how far loading is completed.
And i have i problem as i only get my trace after my text is completly loaded and shown in flash. only than i see progress in my trace window. Do you have any idea why? I am using one frame on one layer i have text field that i need for my text and another layer with code
Code: stop(); var textName:String = "test.txt"; var textLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var textRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(textName);
[code]....
why do i only see my progress after i see text( so after it is complety loaded)?
Okay I made a photo Gallery using a Loader in the Components tab. I'm making the different frames load different pics (changing the Content Path of the Loader on each frame) so now when I go to my gallery after uploading it to the web then it takes a while to load the pics...so what i want is just to show the people that the photo is loading and that its not nothing on the gallery.
Is there a surestarter preloader in AS3 with CS4? Meaning here, showing a progress bar or percentage value before loading the main swf, right away at the start of the loading.I tried 3 different versions:
1- I used the code from a video (and accompanying files), and simply changed the content.swf to my own swf file (rename my swf content.swf), so that the original code would load my swf instead of the original content.swf. (original content.swf was too small to see anything before loading, because my loading speed is too fast).Here is the code from the original preloader (loads a small swf which then loads the main swf file):
var l:Loader = new Loader();l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);l.load(new URLRequest("content.swf")); function loop(e:ProgressEvent):void{ var perc:Number = e.bytesLoaded / e.bytesTotal; percent.text = Math.ceil(perc*100).toString();}[code].....
When I try loaderInfo.content it traces [object MainTimeline] but should trace the external image.tracing loaderInfo.bytesLoaded does not trace the image progress. It should
Code:
var objAimg:Array = new Array(); var ldrA:Array = new Array(); var url:String; var urlReq:URLRequest;
I managed to show the output of a shell command in TextArea of flex by calling following php file via HTTPService and then using the dataprovider attribute of TextArea to show the returned output.
Is there any way to display the playback progress of an external loaded .swf file BUT it is not made with timeline animation? I mean I used TweenMax for the animation on the loaded .swf and due to this the totalFrames method doesn't seem to work... Is there any solution for this? (I would prefer not to transform the .swf as an .flv cause I need the interactivity)
Part of my code so far is:
Code: function swfLoaded(event:Event):void { addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, trackPlayback); }
i have build a flash project where most of the content externally loads in to the main movie. for each chapter i made a "Loader" component, and a "progressBar" connected to the "Loader". during building i was re checking that all is working well (test movie with "simulate download"). then, i was uploading it to my server and when i view it on "fireFox", or "Safari" , it all working. but, when trying to view it on "IE", i never see the "progressBar" and, all the Actions that relate to the "on (complete) {}" never happens.
I have built a site the loads external swfs for each page once the button is clicked on the main fla. im trying to add a custom animated progress bar (fade in, show progress, fade out, show content) for each page but not sure how to go about it. Also I am using flasheff2 and think it might complicate it a bit.
this works when I test it on my computer. But when I put it online, the bytes progress becomes undefinable / NaN.. I don't know why being online makes a difference.
Is there any way to play my partially loaded flash movie while loading is still in progress ?like progressive video download.My app is not video based.I have only animations and interactive coding.
On some sites i have seen usually portfolio or gallery type sites there are thumbnails, text or some shape that you click on to view a particular image. What I'm getting at is some of the sties show visually that the clip has been loaded with change of alpha (images that are not loaded greyed out and ones that have already been loaded are in colour etc..). An example of what i'm talking about is on [URL] When you click on the menu (selection uno), it loads a particular clip, and throughout the session on the site, u can tell which ones have been loaded and have not. I know there are probably many down and dirty ways of achieving this, but i know there is usually 1 or 2 'proper' methods for doing a particular thing.

I'm currently working on a game and I'm trying to work out a way to load images externally and display them on the screen.But the problem is it won't load them correctly and display them, as seen below...
ERROR:
Code: TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null. at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/addChild() at main_fla::MainTimeline/frame2()
Has there been any word on when the output progress event is being implemented? At the moment flash sockets are useless at uploading anything other than basic text files or maybe images because we are unable to control the amount of data being sent. The way I see the output working at the moment is when trying to send large files, the input buffer becomes flooded and in the process of trying to transmit so much data at the same time, many packets are lost. I tested this by trying to transfer a 570mb AVI to an ftp server. By the time it got there the file was only 37mb. The event would allow us to calculate the network speed of the system doing the uploading and the speed of the server doing the downloading so that the buffer size and intervals can be optimized.
My _root movie is nothing more than a interface with navigation buttons. When someone clicks a button another swf is loaded into an empty movie clip on _root.
My Problem:I understand loaders and use them all the time, however, I still to this day have never gotten a loader to work with loading an external movie into a currently playing movie. (ie: in my _root movie you press the "Searching" button and searching.swf is loaded into _root.contents --> contents is the empty movie clip)So anyways... where does the loader go? The only results I've ever had is as SOON as the loadMovie method is called the movie hangs until the entire movie clip is loaded. Then the loader runs... thus making it totally useless.
I used a sample in loading text file from the flash samples. I wanted to load a .C file (turbo c file), which is editable and readable as text. While i have successfully done it, it only shows the loaded text in the .fla but not in .swf I am using flash 8 AS2
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); my_lv.onData = function(src:String) { if (src == undefined) {
I have a fla file that loads a slide show from an XML file. The xml file contains info about each slide. There's over a 100 slides so the loading takes some time. However I'm not getting actual load progress. It traces nothing until after the load is complete and then it shows the progress that it should have traced one by one, however it traced them all at once on the complete. Because it's not firing the onProgress correctly my preloader is rendered useless. Am I doing something wrong on is this a bug in Flash?
I am trying to make a website using flash, and as I dive deeper on this project i realize that it is far more complex than I thought.I came across with this problem:In my webpage, i reserved a big space for content, which would include text and images (a space for news). In that space, flash would read, and show, a word file (for example), thus making it possible to update the content of the website without changing the SWF file, but changing only the external word document.
I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:
I try this code... Bt when i render fla file through flash it shows output but when i jst play swf file it shows nothing
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN,KeyMovement)function KeyMovement(event:KeyboardEvent):void{ var myStr=String.fromCharCode(event.charCode) output.text="key is Pressed="+myStr}
i put an textbox on stage output but it is showing nothing...
I am trying to preload an mp3 file dynamically while showing the typical 'percentage loaded' in a dynamic text box. However for some reason, the percentage just doesn't count up - it freezes on 100% even though the mp3 file is still loading. I have included the code that I'm using below. Also, does anyone know what would be the best way to adjust this code so that I could preload multiple mp3 files at the same time or one after another?
I am building an ActionScript 3 loader,which display the progress of Flash loading an external script. Here is a snippet of my code that works perfectly.
this.SWFLoader = new Loader(); this.SWFLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, trackProgress); this.SWFLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadComplete); this.SWFLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, loadError);
As you can see, I have three event listeners, each for listening for different events triggered during the loading process.In regards to the above snippet, here is what I am unsure of:
What is the contentloaderinfo object?
What properties does the contentloaderinfo object contain?
Why can't I just use this.SWFLoader.addEventListener()?
I am currently developing a flash application that would allow a user to control a movieclip on the stage using 2 keyboard inputs (like turning 2 knobs in order to align something).I have it set up that on the 2 keyboard inputs, the movieclip moves.What I am looking at doing is using trace statements that I use to track the position of the movieclip, which is just a simple black dot, and having the values of the trace statement show up on screen in 2 dynamic text fields, after being rounded to the nearest whole integer. The dot is in the movieclip entitled mCoordPlane.My script is below:
stop(); mAligned.visible=false;mNotAligned.visible=false; var letterK:Boolean=false;var letterJ:Boolean=false;var letterD:Boolean=false;var letterF:Boolean=false;[code]......
I have a flash file that is 1.5mb in size. As it takes about 6 minutes for someone on dialup to load this file, I have created a smaller swf file and loaded the larger one from it but I don't want the larger one to begin to play until it's fully downloaded. How do I set this up? I have set up the action script 2 as follows: loadMovieNum("top2.swf", 0);
How can I replace text loaded from an external file with text from another external file? Using setInterval and calling the .load from a function or something? In the example below I'm calling an external text file, could this also work with an .xml file with cycling through the children?
I have a flash file that loads jpeg files and runs through each on the timeline. I have nav buttons to go back and forth. Here is the problem, all images load on frame 5 and I do this while another image is displayed so that they are loading in the background. I do this so that my initial file size is small, but I can load images in the background making the flash file appear to load quickly and loading other elements after it starts.
So all images load on frame 5, then I go frame by frame until I hit frame 11. If I click one of my nav buttons to go back to say, frame 7, the jpeg is gone and is no longer loaded. How to load jpeg files into the library, or at least, keep them loaded after they have loaded once? I have attached my fla file for reference. I had to rename the extension to eps, but it's a fla file, just rename the extension.
