ActionScript 3.0 :: Get Listeners To Start Listening After Frame 11?

I have the following code in my DocumentClass: [code]....
However,the navbar movie clip does not enter the stage until frame11 after a brief animation. how can i get these listeners to start listening after frame 11?

Is there any way to get Flex Builder to connect to an existing browser session running Flash Player Debugger? I can connect to FDB like this, but with Builder I need to click Debug and rush to close the newly opened browser window before it loads the Flash file and then go back to the session I want to connect and right click it to start the debugger.
Unfortunately this is not very reliable as I can't always beat the window opening, requiring several attempts before being able to connect to the session I am interested in. If I could just tell Builder 'Start debugging' and then have it wait for the connection, I could now calmly go over to the browser, right click, hit debug, provide the IP and voila. This would allow me to inspect variables on a hard to replicate bug on a session running on a tester's computer.

I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

I have 3 frames each with a movie clip called map_mc. Each different map_mc have different objects that call the CollisionDetect class. Heres whats happening. objects from frame 1 will start freaking out when I goto frame 2. How do I remove only the event listeners from objects only on frame 1?
I have been trying this.currentFrame but the problem is that all the objects are inside map_mc on the first frame so no matter what it will always be 1. On the other hand MovieClip(root).currentFrame will always give me the current frame but wont tell me what the objects frame is relative to the stage.What I want to do is have something to this effect:MovieClip(root).this.currentFrame would output that this object is on frame 1 and MovieClip(root).currentFrame will tell me that the stage is on frame 2 so I can remove the listeners accordingly.

OK, I am trying to get the following functions to load and unload the video to my main timeline when I go in and out of a frame. I tried on Enter_FRAME but it is now working properly and load many instances.
What are the listeners I need to do to call the functions of oCoach when enetering a frame and fclickCV when leaving a frame?

I'm having a problem looping through my timeline, I want to use JSFL to hit each keyframe, perform an action (in this case breakapart, but thats a different question on a different thread) and then go to the next keyframe.

JSFL has proven to be the utter bane of my existence. I'm still relatively new to AS in general and AS3 in specific, and this is my first foray into the world of JSFL. I need to learn how to create this tool for work, and I am the only person here with any experience in javascript, so I'm pretty much on my own.

So I made a ridiculously long Flash animation, but now I have to break down to certain parts. It's all made in one scene.
My question is can I start the playhead on a frame other than frame 1. Say frame 595, I've tried gotoAndPlay(595);, but to no avail. I've searched for a good 2 hours on this too. Is something so simple not possible in Flash?

I've got a project I'm working on that has two frames in the main timeline and on the second frame there is a movieclip (pages_mc) with 7 frames to it, each containing content (more movieclips, text, graphics, etc). I set it up this way because I have a title bar and navigation buttons on the main timeline I want to always stay on top of everything.If I have actionscript on an individual frame of pages_mc, that controls buttons on that frame, do I need to remove the MouseEvent listeners if the user navigates to a different frame? I've read that if you don't remove them it will eat up memory and cause poor performance.
I already ran into a problem with the ENTER_FRAME event listener, in which I was forced to remove it because it would just keep going even when the user navigated to a different frame of the pages_mc movieclip.Just didn't know how much of a problem this would be. I'm thinking that if I don't remove them, every time the user goes back to that frame it's just adding another MouseEvent listener to the buttons. Is that correct?

I am writing a little app, and have buttons and sliders on one frame 1 of the stage, and then a help screen on frame 2 of the stage. I have some event listeners attached to the objects of the first frame. When I move to the second frame, and then go back to the first frame, all the event listeners have gone out of scope, and no longer work. (at least that is what I think is happening). I think the best way would be to add something like add Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE listeners to each object, and have the listener function add the event listeners that I want for each item.
So I would have:

iSlider.removeEventListener(Event.REMOVED_FROM_STAGE, removed);

In each of the listeners, I would add / remove the listeners that actually respond to the button / slider.

I have l modded some code that I am really happy with, it makes buttons bounce around for the user to try to click on when entering a certain frame.. I notice tha the code adds eventlisteners ENTER_FRAME to make this work, when you leave that frame there are now problems with null objects becuase the listeners are still on but the objects are not there anymore..
Ok so attempted solution - I can use a currentLabel on the main timeline to check if the correct frame is reached then use a function if (label is x) put listeners on else take them off... works but then I have to have these objects hidden on the timeline and then add visible=true/false to my framelabel listener.. This works but part of my functionality here is that these movieclips that move are buttons that the user clicks on and they explode and dissapear- but now they dont because I have a code that says on that frame they should be visible..
The only thing I can think of is to have a blank frame at the end of the explode and put a stop on it. Then add a gotoAndPlay(1) into my frame label code. Seems very ugly, you guys got a better way? Can I remove eventlisteners on leaving a frame? Is there a code like LEAVE_FRAME??

I'm working on a gunslinger game. I have numerous frames which correspond to different stages of the game. The frame that corresponds to the actual gameplay has a really involved ENTER_FRAME function attached to particular item on the stage. When the game is over (or an error occurs, or the network connection fails) I want to leave the gameplay frame and move to some other frame. When this happens, I would like the ENTER_FRAME function on the gunslinger to be removed because the player may finish a game and then re-enter the gameplay frame later after selecting a new opponent.
QUESTION: Can anyone recommend a good way to manage the keyboard event listeners, all the button event listeners, etc? As you might imagine, I have no reliable way to determine which frame might be entered after the gameplay frame because the frame change could be triggered by a variety of different reasons.

I am using Adobe Flash Professional CS4 with all the latest updates. The FLA is an Actionscript 3.0 file. I am creating a basic flash site with several pages that change when the user clicks links on a left side navigation bar. on the pages are sub tabs that change out different content(text) based on what the user clicks on the current page. when they click a button it triggers an event listener, the event listener runs its function which changes the definition of an already defined (String) variable, and the page goes on to a frame checks what that variable is and then leads the movie to the correct frame that the corresponding content is on.
here's the issue: it works perfectly the first few times, and then the event listeners stop working, first one of them, then all three once i click one of the two available. i started this site before i even knew what a class was(regretably), and all the code is on the timeline in different frames.

If I have 5 frames and each contanins a MovieClip on stage that includes it's class, listeners, functions etc.If I go from one frame to another,should I clean everything up? I mean remove listeners, remove childs etc etc.Or other MovieClips except those in the current frame are ignored from flash player.

I have a movieclip that contains two frames, each frame contains a different set of buttons.
it seems that i cannot add the event listeners to buttons that are not in my current viewed frame.
so.. problem one: is there a way to add event listeners to all the elements in the movieclip even if the elements are in a different frame.
problem two: after I added an event listener to some elements in current frame and then I move forward to the next frame and go back to the same frame, all the event listeners are removed and i need to initialize them again. is there a way to resolve the issue without the need to re-initialize the event listeners ?

I have tried gotoAndStop and gotoAndPlay, but both somehow disable other actions I have setup on the timeline, like on the website I'm making, 3 buttons, "Home / About / Info" it disables buttons from switching frames, very odd.

somehow I miraculously created a Flash movie and successfully uploaded it to a blog
here is the blog, the flash video is in the left column, top:

you will see that the first frame of the movie is actually all white, with a logo/banner across the top
all I would like to do is skip over, or delete? those few frames in the beginning, and have the flash video display and start the movie from a different frame.
this is taking me DAYS to figure out....hours that I am not getting paid for....my client's video guy never returns her calls, and so I, the lowly graphics designer, am trying to figure this out.
SURELY there must be a simple way to tell the video:
"hey....skip over the first ____ frames, and start the video at frame 5______ (or whatever).

how you properly start a movie on a frame other than frame1. The simplest answer is to enter gotoAndPlay(2) in the actions panel of frame 1, however when I do that and embed it into a website, the movie starts on a randomly-selected frame every time I strike the refresh button in a browser.
I'm using Flash CS4 and obviously ActionScript 2. I'm embedding the SWF into an HTML document using Dreamweaver CS4. Standard code -- no modifications to whatever Dreamweaver throws in there to embed flash, other than I have the wmode set to Transparent and am Publishing the SWF accordingly. Could this be interfering somehow?
Is there a way via HTML I can have the movie start at a specific frame rather than upload another instance of the same SWF? I have multiple pages that all need the same flash but playing at different frames per page, and I'd rather not upload multiple instances of the SWF to achieve this. Then again, if it's the only way, I'll have at it.

And ofthen I generate the swf to see wath it's will done ... but each time I have to wait 1 minute to see the part I need.

There must be an easier way to add frames at the start of a flash timeline?
I want to insert a few frames before frame one, but I can not find a simple way to do so in Flash CS5.
I have tried to use insert, it will place them to the right (frame2..). I have tried to drag all the frames of the movie over to the right, but it creates strange problems with the tweens (some even go away).
The only way I have found to do it, is create a new movie, insert frames, and then copy/paste the entire movie from the original flash in to this flash, is there a better way?

I was looking for an answer to a question and found a similar post from nearly a year ago on here however thought it may b better to raise as a new topic since it is so old and may not get any attention due to that.
Basically I am putting together a flash (as3) website with each page being a frame on the timeline. There is a link on the main page (frame1) that links into frame 2 which then cycles through right up to frame 18 and starts again sort of like a manual slideshow. The problems is I need the second frame to start at the top instead of going into the next frame at the point you view the first frame at i.e bottom of the page. The second page has text that doesn't reach right to the bottom so all that is seen is a blank white patch which is not a good experience even though it is easy to scroll up.

If I have for example a simple timeline with 2 labels.The first one is called "Intro" and the second one is called "Loop".So I would like to make the playhead start on frame 1 ("Intro" starts) and when it gets to frame 100 ("Loop" ends), make it loop 3 times and then go back to frame 1.So I would simply write the code:

Lets say it does, how would it increment loops to more than 1, if when its incremented to 1 the playhead goes to frame 1, runs that code again, so loops would be assigned 0 again, right?

I have been playing with this idea for a few hours and now I'm completely miserable,I have two movieclips, mc1 & mc2. mc1 is palying a simple animation.I want to write a script so that when you rollover mc2, it checks mc1's frame number. if mc1's frame number is for example "10", it should play its own animation. otherwise is should wait until mc1 reaches frame "10" then play mc2 animation.

I have a web site that will have five sections. Let's call them 1,2,3,4,5. Section 1 starts on frame 100, 2 on 200, etc. Can I make an HTML link that can start the flash movie at the beginning of a certain section? Such as play "myflashmovie.swf and start on frame 200" so that the viewer will start on section 2?
Another way I was thinking of doing it was to create the five sections in five different flash movies. Then import those flash movies into one container flash movie but vary the order to whatever I want the viewer to start with. Then I would have five different html links. Each link would have a different section as the starting movie. Such as 1.html would play a container flash movie with section 1 at the beginning, 5.html would play a container flash movie with section 5 at the beginning, etc. My question here is could the five separate movies within the container movie make references to the other movies? Such as if someone was in movie 1 and it has link to movie 4, how would I note in the flash movie when user clicks here, go to movie 4?
