I have a list component that has hard-coded labels on it (for testing). I then rotate the list component 90-degrees and notice the text disappears(during design time).
I test the file and the labels do not show up also during runtime.
I can get the labels to show if I rotate the component back to its' original state.
So right now, I have a video player that pulls in all sorts of info (flv url, caption file url, video title, description, preview image, etc.) through an external xml file (playlist.xml). It works great, but I need to change the coding so it's not hard-coded into the FLA, rather from the embed code for the swf.
Here's the chunk of AS3 code that's involved in the original loading of the XML data as well as the html text too.
I've got a transition after clicking on a moie clip that goes like this:[code]The mcName variable is a Movieclip delared in the first frame, and set with the name of a movieClip in the onRelease of a button instance:[code]It does take the variable into the FadeFrame function, but doesn't work.It comes out in trace as undefined with the _alpha property.If I hard code the movieClip name into the setInteval it has no problem.Any reason why it doesn't want to operate on the movieClip alpha this way?
View 3 Repliesif someone can shed some light to this matter... i'm pretty new (somewhat) w/ AS let's say, i got an .swf (voets enahnced mp3-player) @ [URL] --which works perfectly at the moment. i then referrenced this .swf in [URL] --which doesn't work prolly because the .swf is calling the XML (i.e. "onlineplaylist.xml") relative to its whereabout, which is /test08. the question is, is there any way around this problem, so that if i put all .SWFs in a certain location (server/directory/what-have-you...), and referrence it from another server &/or directory (like above), it would work?

The above call requires a username to return a track listing so if I hard code the username into my class like this.... var username:string = "aidanmack" No problems the call works... if I make that username equal to a dynamic text box string that has "aidanamck" typed into it..
so something like... var username:string = mystage.textbox.text
the last.fm api wont except this... I get user does not exist But if I check the call with the charles proxy Flash is defo sending the username "aidanmack" So I wonder if its to do with have how last.fms api interprets the string?
how to populate a list box component located within a seperate mc in my swf with an array... the array comes from a response from a webservice call. I am not currently on the computer with my source code available so lets just use the following....
listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.)
movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component
mylist = the actual list component

Is it possible to get the component's single lable without having all the labels of the component appearing? Like, I'm trying to include the label into a text's .text the code I'm using now is MoVName.text=MoV.labels; but it gave me all the labels that were included in that particular component.

I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.

When i run this i get antialias on my radiobutton but the Swedish characters å, ä and ö disappears. Is there a way to manually embed these characters?
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..

It is working well at runtime, bud I have troubles making it working at design-time. How can I make databinding work at the design time? If it is impossible, how should I code the label text assignments?
I currently have a list that I'm using to hold text so when an item in the list is selected the text is displayed in a text box along side it. I want to have the first item in the list to be pre-selected so the text for that item is already in the textbox when it is loaded.

I have a list component which is being disabled while an animation is playing using It's all working perfectly but I can't for the life of me work out how to stop the whole list component going grey when it is disabled! I've changed all of the cell and component skins but it still goes grey.I just want it to stay the same colour when its disabled, or at least change it to a colour that fits with my design.

I have created AS3 script for loading and parsing an RSS feed. I have successfully displayed the "title" node on the stage in a List Component with the instance name "blogList". Now I wish to use the corresponding "Link" node so that each item in the list will open a web page to the link for that story. I have been able to get each title to link to the last URL link in the RSS feed.
