ActionScript 1/2 :: Get The Component's Single Lable Without Having All The Labels Of The Component Appearing?
Jul 18, 2010
Is it possible to get the component's single lable without having all the labels of the component appearing? Like, I'm trying to include the label into a text's .text the code I'm using now is MoVName.text=MoV.labels; but it gave me all the labels that were included in that particular component.
I am starting to learn how to style components in Flash/AS3.
One of the things I unable to figure out is whether or not I can apply a filter/effect on the label of a component rather than on its skin. For example I want to have a button with a drop shadow applied on the text.
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:
[Code].....
so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
I'm having an issue with TextFormat tags that are appearing in textfields. Here's an overview of what I'm doing: Basically, I'm trying to grab the text from a textArea component: (myText = myTextArea.text")
Because I want to retain formatting, I have the textArea set to be html. Thus, myText becomes the text you see below
So the myText data is then stored in XML, but later when I try to access it, it fills that same textArea component with the literal code rather than the formatted text. How do I take that TextFormat string and convert it back to it's original form? I've tried myTextArea.htmlText
I have a list component that has hard-coded labels on it (for testing). I then rotate the list component 90-degrees and notice the text disappears(during design time).
I test the file and the labels do not show up also during runtime.
I can get the labels to show if I rotate the component back to its' original state.
How can I have multiline labels on my radio buttoncomponents? I can't seem to find good documentation anywhere on howto do this. This is the best that I have found:[URL]
I am trying to build a component based on a class where when you enter a label at design time (in the properties panel), it displays on the component on the stage. This is done in all the FUI Components that have labels and I was wondering if any one knows which part of the code does this.
It is working well at runtime, bud I have troubles making it working at design-time. How can I make databinding work at the design time? If it is impossible, how should I code the label text assignments?
I will be putting a website online, it has been built using dreamweaver with imported flash movies. Now when I put this on the server will the flash still be there? Or do I have to publish every single flash component in the file??
I want to use a Spark ComboBox with numerous MX Components but the Spark ComboBox does not look the same as the MX Components. Is there a skin I can use to Skin Spark components like MX components?
How can we customize the background and font color of a single instance of a tooltip for one component? (Without changing all tooltips in the application.)
This is needed for the HALO component set (4.1 SDK), not Spark (css methods preferred).
I'm trying to create a listing of thumbnails using the TileList component, and so far it's working great. Is there a way to change the appearance of a single ImageCell within the component.I'm bringing in the thumbnail data as XML, and I have an attribute for whether it's a "new" image or not. I would like it to display a small badge over the individual thumbnail in my application.
I should note that I made a subclass of the ImageCell class (implementing ICellRenderer) to set my custom skins, but when I tried adding conditional code here (checking for the "new" parameter I set, It simply doesn't work (no error messages).
i'm trying to create a unordered list in Flex. My issue is that within each line, i want the word NEW to be a different font color and different font size from the rest of the label text. I am unsure of how to do this INLINE within the label component.
<s:VGroup fontSize="15" color="#ffffff"> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Features coming soon!" /> <s:Label text="u2022 NEW Invite your friends!" /> </s:VGroup>
could anyone help me modify the code for these checkbox components? right now, the SUBMIT button checks which ones of the checkboxes are checked and gets their label, then writes the appropriate labels in a dynamic text box.[code]For the program I am doing, I need to have a maximum of 6 checkmarks and each one of the checked label must go into its own variable. (see gray part of the swf) I would also like the labels to appear in the right order, right now it's inversed.
right now, the SUBMIT button checks which ones of the checkboxes are checked and gets their label, then writes the appropriate labels in a dynamic text box.
// HERE IS THE CODE FOR THE Checkbox Components----------- // Array of the instance names of the checkboxes myCheck = [one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine]; // Function
I've been working with the flash data grid component, and I want to update just one cell in the data grid without updating the entire dataset. I haven't found anyway to do this and the object inheritance makes it really difficult to track down properties of specific child elements. Here's a snippet i use to get data from a specific data cell:
var cellData:String = _currentPlaylistDataGrid.columns[0].itemToLabel(_currentPlaylistDataGrid.getItemAt(_c urrentSlideID));
What's the best way to do this? It's NOT on a click event or interactive event.
I'm trying componentize one of the pieces of UI in an AIR application that I'm developing in Flex. In this example, I want to display file information on a single line (which has an icon, some text/link and the size).
My code looks like this (component is called FileDisplay): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="[URL]"><mx:Script> <![CDATA[ public function set iconType(source:String):void { this.ficon.source = source; [Code] .....
However, when I do this, I get an error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. This is because the child components of the FileDisplay are null (or at least they show up that way in the debugger). Am I supposed to be waiting for events indicating the child components were created? For now I can manually do everything in ActionScript in my main app (create a Canvas and add children to it) but how to separate the code more cleanly.
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server. The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips. The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen. An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there. Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?
or
I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too. What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they, for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
I was wondering if there was a way to get the sound from a FLVPlayback component and manipulate it with using a custom volume slider? Within my Actionscript I currently have this code which enables me to control the volume of a MP3:
import fl.events.SliderEvent; var mysong = new music(); var myChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel(); var myTransform = new SoundTransform(); myChannel = mysong.play(0,10);
[Code]...
But Instead of using the MP3 for sound, is there a way to use an FLV's sound instead?
I have two components. One is called "InsideComp" and one is called "OutsideComp". OutsideComp has InsideComp as one piece of its component, and in my main MXML file, I have embedded an instance of OutsideComp. How do I access a public variable of InsideComp within my main MXML file?In Actionscript, I could just do something like:OutsideComp.InsideComp.valToChange = 5; But I dont know how to do it in MXML. I know this is probably an easy question.
I would like to bind two components with out binding and which resides in different MXML.for eg: A.mxml has textinput and B.mxml has a combobox when choose one item in B.mxml selected item should be display in A.mxml textinput.
I'm building this game, and it was working fine, until I used the menuBar component. It's not code related, 'cause i've commented out the script that does things with the menuBar. If I drag the MenuBar component from the component window, onto my Stage , the game refuses to work. If I deleet it (but keep it IN my library), it still doesn't work!. But if I turn the export settings of the MenuBar off, it works! The classes that i'm using for my game are called Node.as, JawBreaker.as The class I want to use to do something with the menuBar is called GameMenu.as (but that doesn't matter, since I commented the calling of that class out).
Is there any way to put scroll of tree component in left side of component or creating a custom scrollbar for tree component i asked in many forums but i think all flash designers are dead
I am trying to create my first real world Flex application. I will have a lot of different data entry / data view screens so I thought I would create many different components to deal with each different type of data that was being returned. I have a MXML application called Layout, and have component called "Navigator" which controls the menu, as well as a ViewStack called "MainContent".
I want the Navigator component to change the ViewStack on the Layout application to that of another Component (each Component is embedded within the Canvas of each ViewStack). I have a click handler on my Navigator which looks like this: Layout.ContentFrame.selectedChild=event.itemRenderer.data.clickValue; However it shows the error "Access of possibly undefined property ContentFrame through a reference with a static type Class." Is my approach a good way of doing it? I have attempted referencing it using FlexGlobals.Layout and topLevelApplication.Layout... neither of which work?[URL]
In my custom component (Login), I create and set a variable userName, it is bindable: [Bindable] private var userName:String; userName = txtUsername.text; I need to pass that variable to a different custom component (Overview), here is the code of the viewstack:
[Code]...
I've searched for a way, but I haven't found one that does the trick.
I'd like to use a button within a component to remove it. So, you click it and the component is gone. But, I haven't figured out how you reference the component from within the component. What should I put in click=""?
