I will be putting a website online, it has been built using dreamweaver with imported flash movies. Now when I put this on the server will the flash still be there? Or do I have to publish every single flash component in the file??
View 2 RepliesDId things change in regards to publishing scenes? I know I can publish preview a scene with the option-command-return, and that still works, however it does NOT replace the swf file in the location chosen in the Publish Settings.
I have an old .fla I need to get swfs published from each scene... this used to be a piece of cake.
I am using Flsh cs5. I have created a simple .fla file. But when i publish , .swf and .html file are not created in the folder.And when i test the movie(control->test movie), it doesnt open any window to show the flash.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying componentize one of the pieces of UI in an AIR application that I'm developing in Flex. In this example, I want to display file information on a single line (which has an icon, some text/link and the size).
My code looks like this (component is called FileDisplay):

However, when I do this, I get an error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. This is because the child components of the FileDisplay are null (or at least they show up that way in the debugger). Am I supposed to be waiting for events indicating the child components were created? For now I can manually do everything in ActionScript in my main app (create a Canvas and add children to it) but how to separate the code more cleanly.
I have several mp3 files that I use in my Flash animation but I want to publish this animation as a single SWF file. Don't want the mp3 to be also made available along with the SWF.

Originally, this flex component can be loaded as a standalone flex application with parameters to connect to the appropriate server. But now a customer of mine wants to integrate this flex component (originally inserted in a flex application) in a custom flash application, thus in .fla file using Adobe Flash CS4.
I've seen that it was possible to integrate a flash animation created with Adobe Flash CS4 in a flex application. But what I need to do is the opposite.
Is it possible to get the component's single lable without having all the labels of the component appearing? Like, I'm trying to include the label into a text's .text the code I'm using now is MoVName.text=MoV.labels; but it gave me all the labels that were included in that particular component.
View 12 RepliesI have just completed a project and upon publishing it found the swf file to be bloated. I looked at the report found 411K to be Action Script and 10k to be EVERYTHING else! The key is that I did no coding at all. I used the standard motion tweens, but the project is very, very simple. I have one moving graphic and about 10 pieces of text fading/zooming in/out.

Is there a way to change the appearance of a single ImageCell within the component.I'm bringing in the thumbnail data as XML, and I have an attribute for whether it's a "new" image or not. I would like it to display a small badge over the individual thumbnail in my application.
I should note that I made a subclass of the ImageCell class (implementing ICellRenderer) to set my custom skins, but when I tried adding conditional code here (checking for the "new" parameter I set, It simply doesn't work (no error messages).

View 1 RepliesI've been working with the flash data grid component, and I want to update just one cell in the data grid without updating the entire dataset. I haven't found anyway to do this and the object inheritance makes it really difficult to track down properties of specific child elements. Here's a snippet i use to get data from a specific data cell:

What's the best way to do this? It's NOT on a click event or interactive event.
I create a file in 5.5, then do a "save as" to create a new file based on the previous file. Make the changes, save it, publish it. Reopen the fla file, and it is not what I saved - it's the file it was "saved as". Needless to say this makes me very unhappy, as I must redo each file again. Sometimes that fails again! May go back to v5.

The Properties says 'Player: 7' but when I publish to Mac/Win (.app/.exe) the file says it uses Flash player 9 (9.0.115.0)! One of our clients are having issues with a project published this way - on autoplay they get a white screen instead of the program screen and after they update Flash on their computer, the application (Projector) works. I have made an App in CS5. I have a release version made, ready to go. It is running on my iPhone with no problem. The error from iTune Connect is 'Application failed codesign versification. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate.' I am the developer, within a Company account on iOS Developer Account. what could be causing this error and how to fix it?
View 2 RepliesTextArea component does not load after publishing as AIR .I have a TextArea component in the library. Its Class is: fl.controls.TextArea I add it to the stage using the addChild method. Running it inside the flash CS4 the textArea component gets added to the stage as intended. But after publishing, the textArea component doesn't get loaded. What may be the problem? The stage is blank without any textarea.

View 1 RepliesWhen I publish my FLV video using Flash CS3 and the "SkinUnderAll" option...the player controls are not visible unless I change the height & width in the html file Flash created.But, Flash shows the height & width 3-times in the html.
Question-1: Why 3-times? What does each of the 3 Height & Width references do?
Question-2: How should I modify the code to be able to see the entire video and the player controls?
It seems if I change all 3 everything just gets bigger and bigger.
1 - I import it into Flash CS3 on a PC w/XP Pro using... File | Import | Video take all the defaults and choose "Skin Under All" as the player option.
2 - In "Properties" panel at bottom of screen Flash shows the video as 640x480
3 - I then click File | Publish to publish the video. Flash creates all my files for me.

4 - I then put the folder with the files on my website.
5 - The video plays but the player controls are not visible.
6 - I see the Height & Width referenced 3 times in the html file Flash created for me (and none are 640x480, they are 550x400 !)
7 - I try changing the 550x400 to 640x480 in all three places... no good. Even at 1000x1000 the entire player is not visible. Everything just gets larger.
What are each of the 3 references to Height and Width in the html file Flash Creates and which should I change to simply show all the player controls?
Is it possible to add a player component to your fla file? In all the documentation I'm finding the only thing I can find is adding it to an flv file. I've run into a roadblock, my flash video encoder is not installed, I no longer have the cds to install it and when I try to export to an mov file its saying that the version of flash is too new for my quick time application. There has to be an easier way to add add controls to your flash movies.

I'm working on a Flash project that deals with multiple files. There is a main file that loads in individual SWF files as they click on different buttons. The course has dynamic text Fields that are populated via XML. So right now, my idea is to give each page it's own XML file? Would this be better suited to have one single XML file for all the pages, and the container file or multiple files?
Also, this is going to be a multilingual project. EDIT: The XML files will just be storing text information to populate the text fields, and some links to load in images. Also, the loaded SWFs will never be accessed without the use of the main "container" SWF.

I need to play those video in single swf object one by one, means after completion of first video second video will start.
I have a swf file, which plays 6 videos one after the other in a loop. This file is very huge so it is taking more than a minute for it to start playing after the page finished loading. I have taken the original video file, and split it into 6 files. I plan to have 6 tiles in the flash file as soon as the page loads, and when some tile is clicked, the video is loaded dynamically only that video or swf file so that it saves the loading time and once this is done, i want it to revert back to the main page with tiles. I am just starting off with flash and I have no clue how this is possible in flash. I am not asking for code, i need some tips to get started.
