Why isn't the "finco" not recognised/passed to php? I'm not getting the text results!! Code: var finco = "motors01"; XMLParser.load("[URL]"+finco, onFinish); function onFinish($success:Boolean, $results:Object, $xml:XML):Void { if ($success) { category.text += $results.category[0].value; namez.text += $results.namez[0].value; [Code] ......
Passing an XMLList to a function to layout text and link that text as a button.[code]...
So it displays fine but every link that is set up in the MouseEvent.CLICK is the last one that gets processed, even though it displays the text for every link correctly.
I have traced it inside and outside the MouseEvent and its all fine, but anytime i click any button it always goes to the one link (the last one processed)
why is my variable not being passed into my function?
Code: dealerLocate.urlButton.linkButton.onRelease=function(webAddress){ web=webAddress trace("this is web "+web);
[Code]....
the webAddress variable is from the exact same timeline making it one level up from this function. it traces out correctly too so I know the variable is there... just not getting passed!
My code seems to produce an error (7 times - same code) "1120: Access of undefined property xmlMarker." This appears on all occasions where the variable 'xmlMarker' is called outside of the function ('showData') where it was first produced.
Code: stop(); var placesXML:XML = <places>[code]............
I have a feeling that I shouldn't refer to the variable as a 'MovieClip', but I am unsure what else to pu thee if that is where the fault lies.On the stage there are several buttons relating to the place names attributes (works perfectly), dependent upon which button is pressed, the scene then jumps to a frame (again this works well), however within that frame there will either be 'myMarker_mc', or myMarker_mc2' (this does not work!).
Is there a way to look at each variable passed into the paramaters of a function. For example, taken the given code.
Code: package {import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Shape; public class Dot extends MovieClip { color:uint; dotSize:uint; [Code] .....
So in this instance it would loop through color, dotSize, doughnutSize, and doughnutHoleSize and set the paramaters of the class to be the same value. Example for each loop: Code: for (var key:String in object){ trace(key + ": " + object[key]); // object[key] is value } So, is this possible?
I've created a simple script in PHP for retrieve the list of files contained in a directory. After that, i need to pass the "lista" variable to ActionScript.
var myVar:String = LoaderInfo(this.root.loaderInfo).parameters.myVar; var snd:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest(myVar)); var channel:SoundChannel = snd.play();
In c++ if I have a function that takes a class I have defined elsewhere as a parameter like so:void moveto(CPoint2D point) { ... }I can invoke it and pass along data to it like this:moveto(CPoint2D(0,0));basically creating the object and invoking it's constructor to be passed to the functionIs there an equivalent to this in AS3?if I have a function like this:function initialize(min:Point, max:Point): void { ... }how do I do something along the lines of :initialize(Point(0,0), Point(10,10))This throws an error im assuming because it thinks I want to cast something to a point and the notation I found earlier to do something similar only seemed to work if using the basic Object class.
Basically I want Javascript to pass a variable to Flash according to resolution. I realize my syntax might be off, but something like:
HTML Code: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> if (screen.width <= 800) { expand = "false";
[code]....
Trouble is, I'm not sure what to do from here. I don't know exactly what I need to put in the <param> and <embed> tags, and how Flash would detect if the variable was true or not.
My employer is making a flash card and they want to customize it by passing a variable in the url that links to the card in order to fill in a dynamic text box.So the URL will have ?me=Bob on the end to but Bob's name inside the card.I've done this for them in the past but that was AS2 and I'm trying to use AS3 for this card. oward a code snippet or tutorial on the best way to accomplish this. If we could use an embedded font that would be a bonus.
is there a way to make all the movieclip that I want to load on stage into an array?
if (selectDiffText.text == "Collection 1 Easy") { var c1_easy:cartoonEasy = new cartoonEasy(); addChild(c1_easy);
[Code]....
now I have 3 movieclip in library which is cartoonEasy, cartoonMedium and cartoonHard. I'll add one of them into stage but with different variable. is it a way I can make them just using ONE variable only? is it using array?
because if just using 1 variable then i can easily control object inside 1 of the movieclip that I called from library.
what I'm thinking is like this:
var c1_all:cartoonAll = new cartoonEasy() = new cartoonMedium() = new cartoonHard()
In a 'for loop' I'd like to add an event listener to a series of buttons. For each button I'd like to define a different function. Is it possible to pass the variable through when the functions are being named? My buttons all have sequentially named instance names.Here's my code:
I'm trying to make a game that is turn-based and allows players to first be selected, then click on a grid square to move there. However, I can't get a way for a variable storing whether the player is selected to be passed back to the actual grid class. I want the grid class to have an event listener that when the grid is clicked on, it will move the player there only if the player is selected. But whenever I try to declare a global variable either inside the grid class or even a document class or even access properties of the character class I'm trying to move I get errors.
I have a movie clip that needs to load an outside Variable and I know how to do it if the Variable is in the main time line.
Main TimeLine: timedelay = 5; MovieClip timedelay = _root.timedelay
What I can not figure out is how to load a variable in a movie clip that is on the Instance of itself (not in the movie clip).
I am fine if I only use one instance of the movie clip at a time on the stage since I can set the Variable on the Main TimeLine into the movieclip (using .root), but this would not work correctly if I want two instances of a movieclip with differenct variables.
Right now I am having to make duplicate copies of a movie clip with different Variable names. I was hoping there would be some way where I could only use one movie clip and give it different variables.
Im new to packages and Im having trouble creating and instance of something threw an .as file. The object is located in the library and exported for action script. Also the FLA's class is set to the .as file. Here's the code from the .as file.
I looked high and low for a tutorial on this and got squat! I need to make this up soon. I have it half working at the moment, i still need to make a database for the events and such. But right now I need to get the calendar scrolling threw the months when the buttons I have are clicked on. this is my code:
I'm trying to combine PHP/SQL and Flash. I've got a problem now. I want to load a variable that contains an url to an image. so the variable is like this: [URL] Now I want flash to load the image, not the text. The variable is called 'img1' but the loadmovie function doesn't work when I put it in.
I want to declare a variable on the main timeline that can be called from anywhere in my movie. So, _global var should be the right approach. I want to declare a movie clip 'MC1' "open", or "closed" so that when it is revisited, my flash file knows the user has been there before and performs a different task from the one it does when 'MC1' was first encountered. So, i need a 'if' statement to run from the variable, when the playhead encounters the movieClip.
I have been banging my head against a brick wall regarding the following problem which must be very simple to fix, just can't see the answer.I have a class assigned to a movieclip called canvas. The class is called drawClass. I have called the instance of canvas on the stage 'drawingCanvas'.When I trace "drawingCanvas" I get object drawClass] which is fine. Tracing drawingCanvas.name gets me the instance name 'drawingCanvas'.This is a String variable.Basically what I am trying to do is pass the MovieClip name to another class. In my example the class 'toolBar', which can then interact with the MovieClip.
The problem is passing 'drawingCanvas.name' results in a String, so I get an error saying :TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "canvasArea" to flash.display.MovieClip.I can't for love or money find a way to convert a String variable to a MovieClip variable! I have the name of the MovieClip, I just need to tell the toolbar class. But I can't find a way of doing this as the instance on stage is an object of drawingClass, not a MovieClip (unless MovieClips with attached classes are not treated as standard MovieClips?).
Im trying to make a SWF that sends some variables (query string) to ASP. Then the ASPfile is responding with "response.write". Everything works great except i dont know how to get the asp-answer back into flash again.I got a few variables that's added in a movieclip called form, then use this command on the button.in the flash button, (on release)
Code: success = 0; form.loadVariables ("http://xxxx/Code.asp", "GET") in Code.asp
I am brand new to AS3 and just about muddled through with AS2. I have a problem which should have a simple solution but everything I try gives errors.I had a load of buttons on the main timline which worked fine. I have moved a load of them into another movieclip called flyoutMenu. Now none work and I get the error:Error #1065: Variable about is not defined.This is the code stripped down to one button:[code]
I am trying to access the variable myParentVariable within the function myParentFunction() from the MovieClip's myMovieClip_mc function myMovieClipFunction().
I know that It works if I declare the variable myParentVariable outside of the myParentFunction() but I don't really want to do that
main timeline //-------------------------------------------------------------------- --- myParentFunction(); function myParentFunction():void
