ActionScript 3.0 :: Load The Images In Different Sizes When Adding A Param In The Url?

Aug 2, 2010

I'm loading some pictures using the flickr api. As you know it's possible to load the images in different sizes when adding a param in the url.

My problem: When the size does not exist and I get a "image not availible" picture from flickr instead of my requested image, I want to trace out some kind of feedback so I can load the image in a different size that actually exists.

How can I do this?

I tried to accomplish this with the contentLoaderInfo and .url property in the COMPLETE event, but I just get the requested image url and not the actual loaded image url.

how to add a bgcolor param to a dynamic SWFObject?

I am thinking that by adding a bgcolor to my SWF or making the wmode transparent, that it will get rid of the ugly "white box" that happens when my SWF first loads before the animation starts. Do not think it is necessary to have a preloader. Previously the animation was embedded using Object Embed code and no flash happened.

Flash :: Passing In Parameters Using Param Tag And Flashvars Param?

Jan 21, 2011

I read almost everywhere that the wmode parameter had to be set to opaque (some said it could be either opaque or transparent). When setting this through the flashvars parameter (this is in Chrome btw) this did nothing. After a while of getting frustrated, I added it as a parameter itself through addParam, and hey presto now it works.Is this a simply a Chrome thing? FF it works seamlessly as it was. Even IE 7 and 8 are behaving slightly better. I wondered if this was a bug because supposedly adding a parameter to flashvars should do the trick.

Professional :: Can't Decrease Images Sizes Anymore For Quality's Sake

Jun 15, 2011

So I'm creating an AS3 doc with a lot of jpegs and pngs. I'm really new to flash and the last swf I made was 5.6mb, way too big from what I read. But I haven't been able to figure out how to avoid this...I can't decrease the images sizes anymore for quality's sake. Can I store the images externally so that only the ones needed for that scene load at that time?

I found a papervision class on the net. When I instantiate it and load xml into the contructor parameters of the class it works fine except that the flipping images doesn't display properly- its masks the middle and cuts off the sides. But when I load images from library into the contructor parameters it displays a different size, almost the size of the original, but not quite -weird.

Load Multiple Images Into A Scene And Then Cycle Through The Images One At A Time?

Nov 20, 2009

I am trying to load multiple images into a scene and then cycle through the images one at a time.So, here are the essentials what I've put together in AS3:First I set up a counter and a Loader

[code]....

Then, after loading a list of images from an XML file, I call a function that I called "createImages". This function then takes the list of images and creates a bunch of loaders:

So far, so good! I now have a bunch of loaders each with a different name "img1","img2","img3" etc.

for(var i:int=0;i<6;i++){
arrayName[i] = //this is where I'm stuck
}

need help with that one line of code, and how to get the name right while using numbers in the array elements and, if possible, the class.

I've never done this before, but I'm prety sure its possible to store almost anything in an array.

What is the problem here? I manually set the width and height in the XML with difficulty... (Because I couldn't find a way to automatically set the image to the horizontal and vertical center..)

But why does the position changes when the timer starts to play (every 10 secs)?

Yes, another one of those pour souls attempting to escape the confines of AS2 and venturing into the AS3 world! I'm simply trying to dynamically add an image frame (imgframe) to the stage, sticking an image holder (imgholder) into the image frame mc and then loading an image into the image holder mc. Here's the code I've been using as a test, but it spits out errors saying that a term is undefined on "mainmask_mc.imgframe.addChild(imgholder);" code. I've tried changing it to various things, but nothing works.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding Text And Images Dynamically?

Jan 16, 2011

I was asked to create a flash product configurator:

1) true 3D visualization of the product (not perspective)

2) customization by the user to add uploaded images and texts to the product and styling text as he wants applying font e color. I have doubts about adding text and images to a 3D object and render them on the fly.

3) and optionally, save that configuration for a successive editing or to propose last saved model to other users. For this I thought to save the 3D clip as a file and then reload it.

Is this achievable flash AS3? If yes, can I use some 3D flash library like Sandy 3D?

Adding Particular Transition Effect Between Images In Slideshow

I've been asked to incorporate a slideshow into a website that I'm working on, which is fine, except they have seen a particular tranition effect that is used between images, this can be seen on these two sites...[URL]. Its kind of a bleach effect? Which I presume is achieved using some sort of tween engine like Tweenmax or the Fusekit? The Honda site also has a nice second transition effect which is pretty cool, where dots kind of fall away? Has this just been done on the timeline?
