View 1 RepliesI need to create a page on a site that has the ability to search a database of inventory items, but one that searches based on certain selections (such as a maximum and minimum price, size and things like check boxes to choose a shape like round, square etc.. and only should the matching items).Is this kind of thing possible in flash?If it is, does anybody know how I would go about doing this
View 1 RepliesI have this flash game. In it there is one movie clip called address_group. In address_group I have another MC called address. In address I have many text fields. Their info is being loaded from a xml file called database.xml. In the timeline where my address_group MC is located I have placed this code to load the XML data to flash:
var planet_title = new Array();
var planet_subtitle = new Array();
var chevron1_txt = new Array();
var chevron2_txt = new Array();
var chevron3_txt = new Array();
[Code] .....
My problem is that when there is a second <planet title_planet="Name"....> the new info from the second input which should be a new entry which means that I want when there is a second input this address_group to duplicate and in it to be placed the info from the second entry. But it doesn't do that it loads the second info over the first one in the flash. So my question is how to make flash to detect if there is something written as second entry or third or forth and so on... and than when it detects to duplicate this address_group Movie Clip and in it to put the info from the second entry if they are 3 to make 3 copies of the MC and put in each the different information....
how to make a connection with my swf and an Access DataBase... or do you know where can I found this information?
View 2 RepliesI would like to make my flash form submit to mysql database.
View 2 RepliesI am still working to fix a FIRED developers code he left us with. The code in question goes out and request information from a database, places it into arrays and also checks session. THis is what I think it should be doing. I am getting a bunch of undefined returns ( prints out in the assigned text fields). Is there a way to make Flash WAIT until all the data has been retrieved from the database. This is out first theory.

I need help to make a form (in Flash) that submits info to a database, and then displays it in Flash. Even better, submits the info to a Flash-made database.

View 3 RepliesIs it possible to create a database driven website using these alone? Or do i need to learn any other technology? If i do then what should i learn? I know j2se for the desktop and oracle SQL/MySQL i finally got the feeling that i need to learn PHP anyway along with css and javascript. So it is fine. Also another query. Which CMS should i consider? Wordpress or Joomla?
View 1 RepliesI have a database on a server and I transfer the data from it to a web site. So I need to build a flash grid on this site and to load the data on it. But the problem is that I do not know how to do it. So my question is how to build a dynamic flash grid wich is fill with data from a database? Is there a way to do it with action script only or I must do it another way?
View 1 RepliesI'm working in a new project that needs to store some numbers world wide, but not using a MySQL database or stuff like that. I'd like to use a text file.The thing goes like this:A user enters the flash page, where he clicks a "+" button that adds 1 to a variable that will keep growing. Then the user will be able to click on another button that says "add to total worldwide", that will hopefully add the amount displayed to a number stored somewhere in a text file. Then that total will be loaded in the same file.In that way, a lot of people around the world will be able to add clicks to the total ammount. I've seen txt files storing variables such as the one of the hitcount tutorial.
View 4 RepliesI want to make an offline desktop app. that stores my company's customers and their data in an XML file, just like a database. so that I'm able to load, edit (create new customers, add to their data) and save it into the XML file which is stored locally. i then want to make a Local Connection to the XML file somehow, so that others in the company can do the same from their PC.. Can anybody tell me if this is possible at all? (making a flash app that writes XML files to any location on a PC that only has network.. edit XML files through Local connection function in flash).
View 3 RepliesI have been using AS3 for approximately 1 year now, and although I havent really done any major projects with it, I am fairly confident using it. However, There is 1 part that I am very curious about. At the moment, I am using the design section of flash cs5 to create my assets. I am trying to make database driven applications, and the problem I have run into with using the design section is that you must manually program each symbol.
For example, If I wanted to make a dropdown menu, and a php file was passing the variables such as "amountOfSections = 5", Then 5 sections would be displayed. This is fine to do using alpha to control what is visible etc, but if there where 5000 dropdown menu items, I would have to physically place 5000 dropdown items onto the stage. I know that it is possible to use as3 to create objects AS THEY ARE NEEDED, but I have no idea how to do it.

I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website.Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.
I'm trying to figure out how to generate an array whose elements are each arrays to make a quick loading database of sorts.the main array could essentially be something like "employees" while each employee would have demographic data like age, salary, gender, etc.In some cases the information on some employees would be greater than others, and options created by "push" would imply the number of elements within each employee array would be variable until generated.[code]But I get the feeling this type of array as it is currently described doesn't lend itself well to adding new elements in the way I've described.My goal is once an employee's information has been entered and saved, I can call up their info by array number like aEmployee[2], and if employee 2's name is Bob, then Bob's name would appear in the text field, along with all the other fields related to Bob's array, such as being male, 42 years old, and living in Witchita Kansas.Would I modify a multidimensional array, or do I want an array within an array, and is there a way to add "arrays" as elements?
View 8 RepliesI have researched this issue all over and most people say use the .refresh() method to update a datagrid after updating or adding a new record. This does not do anything. So, my issue is this. I have a mySQL database hosted I am connecting via PHP, I have 1 mxml file and 2 php files (I know I can use just 1 but I am learning and this was easier for me to use for troubleshooting). The issue is no matter what I change on the datagrid the update does not show on the datagrid unless I close out of IE and reopen it. I can refresh or open the page in another window and the update does not show. I have to exit entirely and restart in order for any updates or additions to show.Here is my licenseTracker.mxml

I am working on a function to generate a form at runtime in Flex based on a call to the DB. The call to the DB returns the field types, id, tooltips etc as an arraycollection, the arraycollection is then parsed in order to ascertain what control to display based on the type field in the array - this bit works fine.However, i am stuck on trying to save the form fields back to the database using a CFC.my form rendering code is as follows but how do i save values entered back to the database? rendering code..
[Bindable]
public var getglobalprofileb:ArrayCollection;
public function init(event:ResultEvent):void {[code].......
I have updated the mxml code to only show the needed code for the program to run the update.
I am new to Flex and have an issue I hope you all can help me out with.

I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time.It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety,but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern
Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.
Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. I was then given this information from someone in the know:
Database:
mlxx.db.xxxxxxx.hostedresource.com
login: mxxx

I am planning to develop a standalone application, which infact will be used for personal purposes. So only single user access may be there. I want to develop it in Flex. Just want some opinions from the gurus over here : Whether i should use Flex or AIR (I know only Flex, AIR i need to start learning)Which database i should use? SQLLite or HSQLDB or some other.
View 3 RepliesI am writing a large flex app that has to connect to a database many times. I currently am using asp pages to connect, but I would like to use the most efficient option. What do you think is the best way to connect to a database from a flex app?
View 1 RepliesI want to create a login page in Flash, containing two text fields (username password) and an Enter button. The database I am using is MYSQL where is a table with username and password elements. For the connection I must use ASP.NET and not PHP.
View 1 RepliesI have a list of items in a database as well as images in a directory folder. I am looking for a flash app that can pull from the database to display the info and also the images and scroll this info vertically with associated links. I need to change this for each client by adding their unique "ID" in the code so their information pulls in correctly.
View 1 RepliesI have written a flash program using AS3 which allows the user to build a picture of a product using a variety of options displayed in checkboxes. Very simply these checkboxes either make a layer visible or invisible in my flash movie and certain choices may change the list of options. This information is currently being supplied by XML. Once the user has built his product, I would like to be able to save his choices in a SQL Server database and also be able to download his options again at a later date and view these choices at the manufacturing plant.
So far I have tried using asp.net to write to the database and have got the information to the asp.net program by using the querystring, however there may be up to 50 options which does make a querystring rather unwieldy. Also I cannot seem to send back information from the asp.net page to my actionscript.Can anyone tell me how to do this or give me an example? I am supposing that I use the response.write function in asp.net but what command in AS3?I looked into the possibility of using a webservice but see that AS3 no longer supports this as all the functionality is in Flex. I have read about Flex but still do not understand whether
I want to find out how i could possibly create and database in flash. I have been trying to create a signup form and a signin form. I have created the design but am unable to link it to database. I do have the knowledge of php so can i link the flash file with php?

I have designed some screens in flash that will be loaded up on a plasma tv. What I need to be displayed in the screens I designed is data from my sql database.
Assigning the values to the boxes is no problem, but what is the format I should use to connect the flash screens to that database. what would be the main lines of code?
I am creating an ROI calculator based off of an Excel Spreadsheet. The formulas in the Excel Doc have been converted to Actionscript and return the results on Submit in the following example:Above all else - The data input needs to be captured. The results do not. The question I have is whether I need to let the input of these numbers go through a database to return the results, while also doing the calculations? Or is there a simple way to capture the input the data and still allow Actionscript to return the results?
