I want to create a cylinder, but with different sides (front and back). At the minute I have a mc on the stage and link in that as the material, but it repeats that all over the cylinder?

I coded my Papervision 3D .as file. I am getting errors for the section of code that creates variables for the materials that are images.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to build a portfolio application similar to the used by Whitevoid. I am using Flex 4 and Papervision3D 2. I have everything working except for one issue. When I try to load an external SWF as a material on one of the planes, I can see any native Flex or Flash components in their correct positions, but the papervision objects are not being rendered properly. It looks like the viewport is not being set in the nested swf. I have posted my code for loading the swf below.

Below I have posted two pictures. The first is a shot of the application running by itself. The second is the application as a MovieMaterial on a Plane. You can see how the button created as a spark object in the mxml stays in the correct position, but papervision sphere (which is rotating) is in the wrong location.

I am at step one with the scripting after having laid out some input text fields for width, height, and area. The catch is this. I need the area text field (named A_txt) to calculate the width input text field (named W_txt) and height input text field (H_txt) and auto update A_txt as the numbers are inputed on the user side. The area text field will be the initial number for other calculations later in the form for determining the price of the customers sign.

As it is now, the drawing looks as if wrapped around a cube, with a nasty 90° degree in the corner. Instead it should look as if it were wrapped around a cylinder. Before starting the rotation I call a function (in ActionScript) 'bendDrawing' that for each point sets an initial z-value:

i am developing an application where client can add his photos to appear on a sphere or ball or coffee cup and able to save them and give it for printing using flex. like itasveer.com site. i tried to use away3D but if the image is small it is stretched and added to sphere. i dont want it to strech instead the original image shud appear on the sphere. if it is added to cup it shud cover only the circular part it shud not add this to top and bottom.
View 1 RepliesI would like to combine bitmaps to one texture and apply it to a cylindric primitive. The cylinder will be rotating or better: the texture should moving along the cylindric-surface and therefor you should see only one (up to 3 textures at the same time). For better understanding: it's my intention to create somehow a poster-pillow with a undefined number of posters on it. By clicking on the pillow, it should rotate to the next poster but you will see always parts of the previous/next poster.
My question is: How can I load the texture dynamically but also how to combine, load/unload posters on the run ?

I want to create a 3D cylinder, sphere, cone using Actionscript for Flash Player 10. Is there any available class? I also want to know how to paint gradient, wrap text and texture around them. It would be nice if these class have these functions. I can't use non DisplayObject in this project so PV3D is not an option

- interface where a user can choose a font (from pre determined font sets) and input a text string
- This text is then displayed engraved on a ring (jewellery)
I'm not sure the best way to achieve this or if there is a module somewhere that does similar.
My best guess would be to
- using mathematics (sin, cos) to be able to plot the oval (where the text need to be displayed on the ring) on an imaginary graph.
- From here there will be a centre , start and end point. The text will need to be limited as it will eventually following the curve of the ring until it can't be see as it is masked by the angle of the ring
- If using dynamic font then the width of each letter should be possible to obtain with AS.
Then mathematically it should be possible to determine how far away from the centre point on the oval each letter is.
- Following this, dependant on the letters distance from the centre, transformations can be applied to each letter. IE stretch, skew and an emboss filter via the convolution filter.
- Hence this will provide the illusion that the text is following the curve of the ring and the look like it is engraved via the emboss.
I tried with AS2 to animate the movement of a cylinder going non stop up and down and with possibility to change speed. I managed the sliding down and the acceleration of the cylinder but it does not recognize the limit where it has to stop and make the movement backwards to starting position.[code]

1. Make movie clip and give it an instance name (in this case: box_mc). Make sure this takes up frame 1 and 2 on timeline.
2. On a sparate actions layer on frame 1 put this down:

how to do this in AS3? I really want to be able to have 3d rotation tweening in my flash file and AS2 won't let me do it.
I am on a tight deadline and looking for the AS3 code of how to do what this company does on their site:URL...However, I don't know AS3.Literally my project requires I recreate the what is shown with the hand holding the sharpie and moving only back and forth restricted to a centered rectangular area at the bottom of the screen.I know how to import the image that follows the mouse to the stage, and to make it a movieclip. Let's say I have named the instance "Image_mc".Does anyone have the actionscript for how to do this? Do you attach it to the object or to a keyframe on a separate actions layer?
View 5 RepliesHow would I be able to create a scene where you scroll left to right using the mouse, but instead of having it at a constant rate and having the picture (background) move when your mouse is at a certain x coordinate to have it be that when you move the mouse away from an object the background will move, and will move faster the farther away the mouse is? I have tried scrolling back and forth with x coordinates, but I haven't been able to get this to work.

This was super easy using AS2. I had 2 'loader' movie clips placed on the stage and simply used the loadmovie to bring up the external swfs. How would i accomplish this using AS3? I simply need one movie to display on one side of the stage, and another on the other side of the stage. do i still use these 'loader' movie clips?

View 3 RepliesI have a stage on the iPhone Project in AS3/CS5, where I want two buttons to appear side by side with say 5 pixels between each button. It's the standard iPhone stage, 320x480. I can position them vertically fine, but side by side, the second button overlaps the first.
The first button, [Twitter], begins at position 10, and is painted out to 200 pixels from the right side of the stage. that is 190 pixels wide.I want the second button to begin 200 out from the left, and be painted for hmmmm 190 pixels. Too wide. Ok, adjust button widths. but you see what I mean I hope. It's probably something simple, but I can't just see it.
So really the question is, how do I get the second button to start at a position 5 pixels after the first one ends? I'll probably have to adjust the button widths so they both fit, but that's ok, so long as they are aligned left, and say 5 pixels apart[code]...

View 1 RepliesI am trying to get some words from xml and put them an the stage side by side in the center of the stage. I achieved this by the code below. I auto resize textfield according to text inside. But this time there comes space between words. What I accomplish is to have autoresized and adjacent words without space between them.
