ActionScript 3.0 :: Pass PHP Through Flash Button?
Jul 30, 2009Am trying to pass a PHP through a flash button, Do I need a third party app to do so? button needs to carry through language ID and Banner tag from PHP code.

Dec 2, 2010I have a movieclip acting as a button with a dynamic textbox inside. The text is being passed via a xml and it has a URL associated with it. But the link does not work. When I remove the onRollOver action that makes my mc button show a rollover state the link works. But when the rollover is active it doesn't.
If there's a way to pass the URL via xml to the button, instead of the text inside the button, that would also be good. (even better because that way the whole button would link, and not just the text)

Apr 23, 2011I have an AS 2 movie that has tons of navigation. When the movie first loads, the main screen plays an animation and stops. That animation is my main menu. If a user clicks the home button (which is an MC instance) it takes him to the Home Movie and plays. From here, I need to be able to fade out that movie and fade in a new movie when the user clicks on the next button. So, I want to create a variable on(release) of the button thats within the Home MC that will play the fade out and then be directed to the next animation.I imagine something like this.

Aug 29, 2002Here's what I'm trying to do:I have a parent container movie that has several buttons on it. As it stands now the buttons trigger an instance of a MC on the main timeline to play using the "with" action (no biggie)I would like to put a frame action in that MC instance that uses the "LoadMovieNum" action to load a particular external SWF movie into the container movie depending on which button the user clicked.In theory I guess I need to somehow associate each button with it's corresponding SWF child movie that is to be loaded (SetVariable?)Then I need to pass that information to the MC instance in the main timeline that actually uses the LoadMovieNum command to load the SWF file.

I've made some Flash navigational buttons that are to be used on the front end of a very robust Cold Fusion web application. I cannot hard code the buttons using the getUrl action because the Url will be changing dynamically. I need to know how to set the variable of a button, so that Cold Fusion can pass it a value for the URL on the fly.

Oct 28, 2009I'm having to pass data (originally read via an XML file loaded by the parent class) to a child class upon instantiation, and I can't decide which is the better method.I could parse the XML in the parent and throw the data into an Object and pass that object to the child class....or just pass the part it needs as an XMLList and let the child class do the parsing.Seems like a trivial decision, yes, but I'm not sure of longer-term implications.

How To Pass URL Variable To Flash
Oct 24, 2008I want to put a variable at the end of a URL and have Flash "find" that variable. The url would be: [URL] "Campbell" is the variable I want to pass to Flash. I then have this script in the root timeline:
loadVariables (""+agent".txt", this);
I want "agent" to be replaced with Campbell. That way I can have it read a bunch of variables from the txt file. I tried this as well:
loadVariables (""+_root.agent".txt", this);
What am I missing in this?

Oct 13, 2010I am trying to load an AS2 swf from an AS3 swf. The AS2 swf which was written long back, expects parameters from the timeline(_root). These were passed to it before from HTML using flashvars. Now I am trying to get rid of the HTML pages, by directly loading the AS2 swf from the AS3 swf. However, when I try to load the AS2 swf using the Loader class, the swf loads fine, but the parameters are not getting passed on.
I tried to add the query string to the url parameter I used in the URL request used for the Loader, but that did not work.(Adding URL variables as data to URLRequest did not work either.)

Aug 3, 2011I am using Flash CS5, never touched Flex. Also the SWF that is doing the loading will be a client SWF, so hoping for a solution that could work with a simple couple of lines.
Basically inside the SWF I am working on contains just a simple string:

Now I've been working on a test loader SWF that will load my String SWF and get the variable in the simplest way. Any thoughts? Below is my current broken code:

Mar 29, 2012I wrote a simple flash loader that loads external swf and then calls javascript function to show div containing flash. I need to pass flashvars to loaded swf. I have read that I just need to use query string when loading to pass variables: externalswf.swf?var1=val1&var2=val2
BUT there is a problem. External swf can be very big and I'd like it to be cached by flash engine. It seems it's impossible in case of url parameters ?var1=&var2=& because those vars often change.Is there other ways to pass vars into inner swf. (I cannot change inner swf and I know only one thing - it use vars passed via flashvars mechanism
