ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing Information To Movies In UILoader?
Apr 12, 2011
I want to pass information to a Movie Clip (swf) loaded into a UILoader component on the stage. I need to be able to do this so I can synchronize the actions of multiple Movie Clips in the main movie clip. What's the proper way of accomplishing this?
An example of how I'd use it is when I'd load a video to the stage and I'd want to tell my audio player to mute the volume on the background audio.
I am using UILoader to load a .swf file. My .swf file takes a querystring parameter, like myapp.swf?id=12344
Now, when I specify the source for the UILoader in the other project as "myapp.swf?id=12344", I am getting the following error: Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I am trying to load an swf that takes some query-string parameters in another swf. I am loading UILoader to do that. How else can I do this so it will work?
giving a checkbox in a form a varibale.I'm passing the form to a CDONTS ASP page, and I have three checkboxes, which I need to appear in the retuened email as either blank or 'checked'.(I have read the tuts here btw - but cannot get them to return a value)My chk box is called 'chk1'.So my AS on my submit button looks like this:
on (release) { chk1 = chk1.getSelectedItem().label; getURL("http://www.holmes.7host.com/promise/mypage.asp", "", "POST");[code].....
I need to pass along a string with my FileReference, or provide that string as an argument when an event fires. To be clear, it really annoys me that AS3 doesn't allow you to pass parameters on events.Right now, I've extended the FileReference class to include an additional variable. I'm trying to get this to compile, but it won't compile; I think I don't know how to import this class correctly. If you can tell me how to import this class correctly so that I no longer get Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant at compile time that would be great.
This is the extended FileReference class: import flash.net.FileReference; public class SxmFR extends FileReference {
A map of the US comes up and users will select where they work, before getting to the next page, which is a form where they fill out the rest of their contact information. The Submit button sends the form variables to a php file on a different server which then stores their info in a database and will take the "location" variable from the map (in the previous .swf) to send the user the correct demo map.
My vars from the form post to the PHP and a confirmation e-mail is sent to the user etc. etc. this works fine...i'm just confused as to how to send the location variable that was pre-selected to send along with the form.
I have been receiving great help for the past few days on many different things, and now I have another issue. I am creating a form in an SWF that pops up in a window over my main site. Is there a way to pass the information that the user submits in that form to my main movie? Or will I have to embed the form movie into my main movie? Is there a tutorial dealing with this? Also, since I'm asking, is there a way to save information to a text file using ActionScript or Flash, or whatever? I was thinking the other thing I could do would be to save the information in a text file, then dynamically load it in a text box on the main site.
I have a SWF movie ("bits.swf") with an array ("things") variable in it. I use loadMovie to load bits.swf into my main movie. Q: how can I read/use/transfer the values in array "things" from my main movie?
I have a flash movie for drop down menus that is called by all flash/movie banner sections of my site. The banner movies use FlashVars to set the heading and an image. The trouble is that the flash menus also were set to use a flashvar to dictate the context of the menus and leave one top level menu highlighted to show the content to the user. I have not been able to get both of them to use the Flashvars functionality. The html page calls the banner movie directly and it can therefore access the Flashvars. The menu swf however - which is not called from the html page but instead is called from within the banner movie - cannot access the flashvars variables. That leaves me with two choices:
1. Either use a different method for passing the context variable to the menu movie. 2. HTML code calls the banner movie. I can continue using flashvars and get the context variable by reading it from within the banner movie - and then somehow pass the value down to the menu movie if that is possible.
I have a flex compiled swf module inside my flex program I just need to pass it some values like I do it when I use chat.swf?username=john : that works !
Basically I have a button which can be clicked to load an external movie, the external movie loads an ASP script.Dependent upon the button clicked I want to be able to execute different SQL statements.
I have two movies: m1 and m2. In m1 I set a variable to variable="yes". Now, I want m2 to read the variable and do an action depended on the variable (see the example below).
This is the AS in m1: on (release) { docufield = "background.txt"; } And this is the AS in m2: this.loadVariables(docufield);
Does anyone know of a good way to pass variables between flash movies on different html pages? Should I use a flash cookie? pass the variables in the URL of the html file and then try to get them back out on the next page?
I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:
[Code]...
I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
I want to build a program built around my pc specs. Is there a way to access such information as how much ram I have or how much cpu usage is being consumed, etc.?
I have an intro.swf file that is basically a movie with sound that is exported for actionscript but not exported in the first frame. I just stuck it in a movie on my timeline and it works great and the preloader works because it doesn't load the sound before the preloader. I use :
musicSound = new Sound(); musicSound.attachSound("music"); musicSound.start(); to play the sound in intro.swf.
However, now this intro.swf gets loaded into an index.swf and everything works fine and the sound plays as long as I have the sound included in BOTH the intro.swf and the index.swf and the sound is exported on the first frame in the index.swf. I was hoping I could remove the sound entirely from my index.swf since it already loads into the intro but so far
I have been having trouble creating a movie clip with a reverse rollover effect within a movie which has a reverse rollover effect. that sounds confusing
In essence I wish to create a panel that rolls out on rollover and rolls back in reverse when the you rollout. I have done this using this script
[Code]...
However I wish to make movies within this movie that have the same effect on them. But when I create another movie or button within this movie it is not registering on rollover. I guess because the script on the main movie overrides it?
I am creating a calendar and only one part isnt work. That part is the movie (mc_nav). I have the mc_nav movie on each month's stage. The buttons are named correctly since I used normal modes reference thingy to double check the references. I am trying to have it move to the next frame in the movie, or back, or to the 3rd frame etc. The first section (NAVIGATION BUTTON LINKS) works fine. It is just when I try to navigate on the Scene 1 stage, from a movie within a movie, that the trouble arises. Each of the month movies (mc_sep, mc_oct, etc) have mc_nav placed on them. Then the month movies are placed in Scene 1 on each of their respective frames (mc_sep = 4, mc_oct = 5, etc). When testing the movie and I am sent to any month page, the navigation (mc_nav) wont work. The syntax according to the flash debugger is correct. The action script goes all the way through to the last frame (13) and the stop(); command is set to stop the movie at frame 3 (the splash page).
I have a small FLA file i created myself. its just a simple mp3 player, pause and stop and a volume slider, thats it.I want to import three instances of this into a bigger movie and have them all available to run at the same time.I need them to be all on the screen at one time (same frames) and I need them each to be able to play a different mp3 The user will not be able to decide which mp3, this is all 'hard coded' into the fla file.So how can I do this and get access to each individual movie's controls?
For example when I use the slider on the first player, I only want the volume to change on the first mp3.Would I even have to worry about this in the big file that has all three movies in it?I mean could I just code the volume slider to work right in the mp3 player file and then the bigger movie file will automatically know that when the volume slider is moved, only to affect the voume of the first mp3?if i do it that way, would I have to save out 3 different versions of the mp3 player file. one with '1.mp3', say, hard coded into it, another with '2.mp3' hard coded into it, etc?
JPG images saved in Photoshop in highest quality gets blurry when loading them dynamically through uiloader in Flash. Why, how can I maintain highest quality?
I am looking to code a tooltip for a UILoader. The text for the tooltip will come from a parsed RSS feed.I see several examples of how to do this in AS2, but it seems that it was left out of AS3.Is there a component that will achieve this?
this might be a very simple thing to do, buuuut... I've got two UILoaders on my stage, when you click various buttons it makes various pics appear in them, I want to put a button on my main stage that would clear the images out of the UILoaders when it was clicked, and would just leave them blank. Is this possible?
When I use the UIloader it loads my first swf no problem but when i use the list item to load another swf it loads it in at a massive size. I thought it wasnt loading until I increased the stage. The swf is at a normall 550 x 400 so not sure why its made it 5 times bigger
I'm trying to load a bunch of symbols with UILoaders into a TileList. The code executes without error but the image that I was loading into the UILoader doesn't show up. I'm looping through an array and creating a new object (the one with the UILoader), setting the UILoader source and then adding it to the TileList.
I need to stop playing SWF that is loading to UILoader, the swf file starts to play when its loaded on 75%, I need it to start playing when being 100% loaded and I can't get this work Here is my code:
