Flex :: Passing Along Information On A FileReference Complete Event?
Nov 11, 2009
I need to pass along a string with my FileReference, or provide that string as an argument when an event fires. To be clear, it really annoys me that AS3 doesn't allow you to pass parameters on events.Right now, I've extended the FileReference class to include an additional variable. I'm trying to get this to compile, but it won't compile; I think I don't know how to import this class correctly. If you can tell me how to import this class correctly so that I no longer get Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant at compile time that would be great.
This is the extended FileReference class:
import flash.net.FileReference;
public class SxmFR extends FileReference {
Let me start by mentioning that I am using a program called "Koolmoves" that outputs AS3 compliant flash for player 9-10.
For some reason my filereference is not recieving COMPLETE event. Every works fine and file is uploaded etc, and I see the byte total match up in my progress event. but never get the complete event, I also tried the uploadCompleteData event as well and have tried with the PHP code sending a response and also without.
When I upload a file using a Flex application,what is the difference between complete and uploadcompletedata events? In which cases one of them will be dispatched and the other one won't?
I made a test where I download a file using URLLoader - something like this:
[Code]....
in the middle of the downloading process I physically disconnect the internet connection. the download stalls - but after aproximately 30 seconds downloadSuccessful is invoked, although only half of the data was downloaded. how can I make sure that the data to be downloaded is complete and correct?
I am loading in binary files with the url class which can be quite large 10mb + and it works fine on my server but another server I am testing on it can sometimes not work. Sometimes it will not load the file and other times it will only load about 20% and it throw a complete event??? Then of course other times it works fine. This server is https maybe that has something to do this it?
I created an image uploader for an app I am working on. I first used php for the server side script, and everything worked fine. I found out afterwards I had to use .net, so I created new serverside scripts. The problem I am having is that my event.COMPLETE listener is never firing. I can receive data back using a DATAEVENT listener, but then it stops at this error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
Here is how I am sending my file. var fileRefReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(FILE_UPLOAD_TEMP); var fileReqVars:URLVariables = new URLVariables(); fileReqVars.subdir = "Temp"; fileRefReq.data = fileReqVars; fileRefReq.method = URLRequestMethod.POST; fileRef.upload(fileRefReq);
The file definitely gets uploaded to the first TEMP directory, but then it breaks with the above error.
I'm an experienced AS developer, but this is something very basic about flex that I can't figure out. In the class below, I'm not sure why the function imageLoaded would not be executed when the image loads a url. Is there a race condition happening here? The application is completely loaded by the time this object is created and setPicture is called. How can I get the Event.COMPLETE event to fire properly in this case?The line and Log.info functions are conveniences for me, and they definitely work. Here's my MXML definition:
I basically have rectangles which I want to replace with images I load through XML references. The rectangle instance names are from image0-imageNumberWhatever. I've got everything working, the only thing I can't seem to do is once each image is loaded, it fades in instead of randomly appearing. Below is my code:
I need to call FileReference.save() after a web service call has completed, but this method has a restriction: "In Flash Player, you can only call this method successfully in response to a user event (for example, in an event handler for a mouse click or keypress event). Otherwise, calling this method results in Flash Player throwing an Error exception." (from the documentation here)
This restriction is a bit vague. Does it mean that I can only call the FileReference.save() method from within an event handler function that is registered as a listener for certain types of user events? If so then exactly which user events are valid? (Perhaps there's an event that will never be dispatched by user interaction with my application and I could register an event handler function for that event type and make the save() call from within that function?)
My difficulty is that I can't safely call the FileReference.save() method until my web service returns with the data that will be used as the argument of the FileReference.save() method call, so the event that triggers the FileReference.save() call is actually a ResultEvent rather than a user event, and I'm leery of dispatching a new (faux) user event type in order to be able to trigger the FileReference.save() call unless it's definitely a user event that would never be dispatched as a result of actual user interaction with my application.
In a nutshell what I'm doing now is this: I have a function that is registered as a handler for a button click. In this function I make my web service call to fetch data from the server. I also have a result handler function which gets invoked when the web service call completes, and it's in here that I want to call the FileReference.save() method since it's at this point that I know that the data is ready to be saved to a file. But the aforementioned restriction is blocking me from doing this -- I get an error:
Error #2176: Certain actions, such as those that display a pop-up window, may only be invoked upon user interaction, for example by a mouse click or button press.
I've tried many things to get around this such as creating a second mouse click event handler function with the FileReference.save() call within and calling it after a timeout interval (to give the web service time to complete), but I keep running into the same error -- maybe that approach doesn't work since the second function isn't registered as an event listener for the event type used as its argument.
enter code hereBeen really frustrating just trying to load a swf from a swfloader in Flex and then accessing it's content. I'm sure once I figure out how to do it once then it'll be fine, but I've gone thorugh a bunch of tutorials and somethings not right. Here's my flex code:and the as code:
public function initHeaderSwf():void { trace("INITIATIED");[code]........
Here's the problem: The swf loads, there is no problem there.i see it in my compiled swf. but the complete event doesn't fire. CreationComplete will fire, and then I try, after that, to make a event listener for loading the actual swf, that doesn't fire.I've tried it a variety of different ways with no luck.All I am trying to do is change a text field in the loaded swf.I imagine this might be a problem with the sequence of things loading or something like that, but not sure.
So, I'm trying to load resources, add them to a dictionary, and have a drawing method search through that dictionary and draw based on certain predicates. I have a function that iterates through an Vector of Strings, calling on an instance of Loader to load them instantiated as a URLRequest.
private function loadImages(urls:Vector.<String>):void { var loader:Loader = new Loader();
[Code].....
So the issue is: Only the first images in my Vector are drawing. Upon further inspection, I found that the completeHandler was only being called once (I put a trace in the complete handler to check). However, the Loader is invoking load everytime the loop iterates. I tried instantiating separate loaders for each resource, just to see if it would work, but I had no luck with that. Do I need to make separate loaders and event handlers? Or am I just not using Loader correctly?
Is there some way in Flex where I can tell when all of the data has finished binding to my AdvancedDataGrid? I have a bunch of label functions that run and I need to a busy cursor while the grid gets populated. I then want to remove it when it's all done. And also fire another event.
I'm using an HTTP request to download a image in binary format. When the downloading is complete, I want to process it, but I also want to pass the image's ID to the complete handler function.
set some filters on the bitmap after it has been loaded.During development (Debug mode), everything worked and the even has been fired just fine.But now I switched to Release mode and the complete event doesn't fire anymore.To load the image, I set the source property of the image to an URL that points to a PNG image. That does still work in release mode, so the image appears correctly.It's just that the "complete" event doesn't fire, no matter what I try.
I am a bit stuck here for the past few days. I have a SWF running in Security.LOCAL_TRUSTED sandbox. I can load my JPEGs and simple SWFs without any problems
I am trying to use the load method of FileReference object to load the data and use it to display a thumbnail of the selected image.However, after calling fr.load(), fr.data remains null.I'm using Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows 7 with Flex SDK 3.4 and Flash Player 10 Debug. If I evaluate fr.load() in Eclipse's watch variables list, I get an error reading "No such variable: load."
I want to build a program built around my pc specs. Is there a way to access such information as how much ram I have or how much cpu usage is being consumed, etc.?
I'm stuck with an issue and I cannot understand why it behaves like that. In a for loop, I'm passing the for index as an event parameter. However, the eventHandler is getting the wrong index, but the right target...
giving a checkbox in a form a varibale.I'm passing the form to a CDONTS ASP page, and I have three checkboxes, which I need to appear in the retuened email as either blank or 'checked'.(I have read the tuts here btw - but cannot get them to return a value)My chk box is called 'chk1'.So my AS on my submit button looks like this:
on (release) { chk1 = chk1.getSelectedItem().label; getURL("http://www.holmes.7host.com/promise/mypage.asp", "", "POST");[code].....
I want to pass information to a Movie Clip (swf) loaded into a UILoader component on the stage. I need to be able to do this so I can synchronize the actions of multiple Movie Clips in the main movie clip. What's the proper way of accomplishing this?
An example of how I'd use it is when I'd load a video to the stage and I'd want to tell my audio player to mute the volume on the background audio.
Is there any way to know if data is completely received on the other end of a flash.net.Socket? Like a complete event? Based on the event documentation there is none. If there is no way, what are the alternative strategies?
I have made my application in CS4 using as3.0. In my application there is one browse btn that upload image/picture on my application. It upload the image on Event.Complete event. This thing work in window's OS perfectly but in Mac it open a window on the click of browse but wont upload the image in my application.
I have an as3 application which uploads some files. I use FileReference with an event listener onProgress. It works perfectly fine in both Safari & FF on my Mac, but when I try it on a windows vista, both with FF & IE, a strange thing happens: It rockets the progress event from 0% to 100% in something like a second.However, the onComplete event is triggered seconds later - when the file has actually completed uploading. E.g - the onProgress event is not accurate.I use php as my uploading script.
