Is it possible to record speech in AS3 and to write the spoken words into a textfile or something? Or maybe record something twice and compare this to each other? Like if I would record the word "Hello" and then the word "Hi" and it returns me a false or something like that.

To do this I need to know how to write and retrieve this information to and from a text file or a cookie so that it can be retrieved re-enters the course.

What I'm trying to do is figure out how to take sound from a microphone, register the level/volume of that sound in flash. So if the level is 25 then a movieclip and a different sound is played back. Problem is I don't know what coding I can use to register a microphone and take whatever sound is put into the microphone and display a movieclip.

I develop failover fms application with server-side action script. But i have a problem that FMS can't continue to record stream with record mode "append".
Environment: FMS 4.5.1 r484 on CentOS 5.5/6.0
Goals:
I have 2 same data streams in failover application and republish primary to livepkgr application.
I have to store of last 10 hours intact recorded video (DVR).
Failover app logic:
1. I create NetConnection and NetStream to livepackager;
2. When primary stream is connected it attach the primary stream to livePackager NetStream
3. If primary stream is disconnected it reattach the backup stream to livePackager NetStream
Problem: I have testing environment. It stop primary stream every 5 min, and started primary stream 5 min after stopping.
It work's, fine, but after a few hours testing LIVEPACKAGER falls. It can't record a stream, NetStream.Record.Start -> NetStream.Record.NoAccess -> NetStream.Record.Stop
Search a solution: I try to relaunch recording process and have no success. try to shutdown/start livepackager, it's same, try to restart server, same no success.
I cant stream.clear() or record with mode "record" cause it clears my dvr cache, I cant clean stream directory in livepackager application.

I am trying to develop a module for voice recognition that could be integrated with a pre-existing flash website. I don't need the full speech recognition functionality, but a limited set of it (only specific commands like next, go etc). I looked at some functionality available like speechapi.I did try to do a bit of flash training by myself since i got into this project. So anyway, if I have to go ahead, will I have to do this in Actionscript?

View 1 RepliesI'm developing a web user interface to enter some information that is not very complex but needs to be loaded in real time. I think that the application could make use of speech recognition to facilitate the task.
Te core of the interface is being built with Javascript and jQuery, but can easily include a flash or silverlight component. I believe that´s probably the way to go. I don't need to recognize everything that the user says, but only a few prerecorded commands. Also, I don't want the user to click on a button to specify the begining and the end of the spoken command. It should be detected live.
Is there anything that does this? I would be grateful if anyone tells me about a complete solution, free or commercial, as well as any advice on capturing a sound stream from the mic and process it with flash or sliverlight.

I want to make it so that a character's mouth moves as I talk into a microphone. And(while this is a stretch and don't think it'd really work, but I figured I'd ask just in case) make similar mouth movements according to what I'm saying. For example, having my character have an open circular mouth as I say, "Oh" or something similar.I've considered just holding down a key that turns on my microphone and makes the character's mouth move. But the problem I have with that is; how do I get the microphone to turn on and off as I hold and release the key?

var array1 = new Array();
array1[0] = "1";
array1[1] = "7";
I know that these are in string format, but this is necessary for the whole code (i think!) but I want to be add these to values together, to get the value of 8, however if you do:
var answer = array1[0] + array1[1];
Then it just joins the 2 values to give 17, however if you times them, it treats it like a number.Is it possible to add them to get the value of 8 in another way without having to remove the speech marks from the array value?

I'm trying to see if I can set up a text to speech feature in Flash. I found this post, which details how to integrate Google's text to speech functionality with Flash. Seems pretty good, but the post seems to be written for uber-genius AS3 programmers...well not really, but at least those who already know how to stitch these pieces together.
I know a bit about using classes and packages, but can't seem to figure out how all the chunks of code in his post would be stitched together.
Any chance anyone can check this out, and give me a basic rundown of how all these pieces would go together?? So I can try implementing this myself...

I'm porting a card game from pure Flash/AS3 to Flex 4.5: I'm almost done, but the "speech baloons" marked by the blue color in the screenshot above are missing. Those "speech baloons" fade in, display red (if they contain hearts or diamonds char) or black text and finally fade out. I'm trying to implement those as mx.controls.ToolTips and have prepared a simple test case, where 3 users are represented by smiley-buttons and you can push a "Talk"-button to make them talk:

I have a variable which takes a particular form of array (used with the component DataSet). It looks like this:

I want to extract this variable from a textfile instead of writing it directly into the code-area of the flash-file, so I used the following code:

Unfortunately it seems the array gets converted to an ordinary string in the process, so I cant use it properly. Is there a way I could extract the array from this string again, and if so, how?

View 2 RepliesIn have an application that uses buttons t0 load different text files. The problem is when I load the second text file I still get variables from the first one showing. To clarify things, suppose I load a file that displays variables 1 through 5 randomly when I click one button, then I click a second button in order to load a file that displays 6 through 10. The problem is that I still get some variables from 1-5 when I want to get only 6-10. Is the first file kept in memory or something? How do I unload or clear the temp/memory where the content of the first file is held.
