ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Take The Volume Of A Sound Spoken Into A Microphone?
Apr 4, 2011
I'm working on a project for my Flash class that seems to be above everyone's heads. What I'm trying to do is figure out how to take sound from a microphone, register the level/volume of that sound in flash. So if the level is 25 then a movieclip and a different sound is played back. Problem is I don't know what coding I can use to register a microphone and take whatever sound is put into the microphone and display a movieclip.
I'm building a video player and am kinda stuck at the volume slider part. It's a YouTube style vertical slider, meaning if the slider is in the top position volume should be 100% and if the slider is dragged to the bottom position sound should be 0. Currently it's doing the opposite of what I want :(
Dragging the slider down will make the sound louder, while dragging up lowers it.
Here is my code below dealing with the volume slider.
[Code]....
The (-4) is an offset value so when you drag it all the way to turn it off, it's 0 and not 4. I need to reverse this somehow, so the traces above will swap... going down will make userVolume = 4 and going up will make it 30.
In our application, we are using a Microphone object, that is published to a server (via NetStream).The recording works well.But unfortunately, while the microphone is active and the NetConnection+NetStream remain, all other audio from inside the flash application (and I guess other active flash applications as well, at least it does it with grooveshark) has its volume turned down.This is completely against the flow of our flash application, as you have to hear certain sounds clearly while speaking into the microphone.How can this turning down of the volume be disabled?
I inherited a flash application at work that is basically a bunch of symbols with actionscript inside each of them. There is also an external actionscript file that serves as the application controller, with much of the application logic in various frames of Scene 1. Some of the symbols are supposed to play a sound file on mouse over, which they do just fine, but when I try to get the global sound volume from the controller:
E.g. ActionScript Code: var bVolume:Number = controller.getGlobalVolume();
It doesn't work because it doesn't recognize the controller object. This is strange because the controller is called all throughout the project, but it is not seen within symbols.
This is a completely AS3 scripted, and dynamic project, meaning I cant use any assets from the library.
1 - This button is a mute.
 Currently the loaded sound now fades in with a timer. I want the button to over-ride any sound elements on the stage: the mp3 and later a flv movie as well. In the below example the button only interferes with fade, and dosen't actually override it, after the fade - it dont do jack. SoundMixer.stopAll(); will of course kill everything but I cant toggle this(can I?)
2 - The toggle button itself I've loaded two png's into a sprite, and created a toggle button from them using an if statement. Is this best practice? or would you recommend something else? Perhaps SimpleButton?
We are working on a project to record a sound a we need to play back in flash 8 (as 2.0). we have 3 buttons like play /pause, record, stop, When we clik on record button we can record the sound through microphone and when we clik on paly /pause button the recorded sound should be played. so can we record and can we play back in flash 8.
Background story: many users (including me) browse the web from notebooks that are not constructed for sound performance. That means (besides other things) that the sound volume for most videos is too low, especially if the video itself is recorded at low volume.
Therefore...
I was wondering if there is any way of increasing the volume of such a video (especially Youtube, but could be extended to other types), because I'm interested in doing it and even publishing it as Firefox/Chrome/other browser plug-in.
This captures microphone sound and changes the alpha of 'foo' according to the sound level. However, I hear the microphones input. I want the visuals to work without hearing any sound. How would I do that?
What I want to know is if it is possible to record a sound clip using a microphone and then upload it to the server using a swf applet in a webpage. Im an experienced java/javascript programmer but just starting out with flash/action script. What technologies will I need to do this? Can I do this simply using simply an swf file and an apache/php or jsp page?
I am developing an application in flash(AS2) with FMS/RED5. where i want to record sound through microphone with background music(Flash is playing mp3). is that possible in as2 ?
I am currently an English teacher and I am familiar with programming in DOT.Net platform. I am completely new to Flash. I turned to this platform because I thought that would be the best way to prepare interactive computer based exams in English. My real problem is, I don't have the slightest idea as to how I can create a Flash application which records the sound through the microphone and saves it on the local disk.
way to get access to sound samples coming from a microphone ?
So far I have not found such a function. In the meantime I am trying to overload alsa functions e.g: snd_pcm_readi to see if I can get the samples before flash treats them, but no success so far.
As a matter of fact, since I have no idea how both sound and microphone class work internally, I don't know exactly which alsa functions they call.
I am trying to animate a mask over a sound meter according to the activityLevel of the microphone. If I understood what's in the livedocs, the activity level is the amount of sound captured by the microphone, right? well, I'm trying to use it in order to do the animation but I have two problems:
1. there's a very annoying sound coming out of my speakers
2. nothing happens when I talk through the microphone
I'm setting up an application where I need to record users' voice every so often during the course of the users' interaction with the application. Recording is fine, and the quality is fine, but now my issue is understandng how Flash handles the microphone when it gets attached to a stream for publishing.Basically, the problem is that when I "publish" my stream, the voice gets cut off (clipped) at the beginning. So, I initially thought this may have to do with buffer settings on the FMS server side, but it wasn't. Then I investigated client side stuff. For some reason, my internal mic .activityLevel property is -1 even though I have called Microphone.getMicrophone(). According to Flash's documentation, this shouldn't be the case:
activityLevel propertyactivityLevel:Number [read-only]Language Version : ActionScript 3.0Player Version : Flash Player 9The amount of sound the microphone is detecting. Values range from 0 (no sound is detected) to 100 (very loud sound is detected). The value of this property can help you determine a good value to pass to the Microphone.setSilenceLevel() method.If the microphone is available but is not yet being used because Microphone.getMicrophone() has not been called, this property is set to -1.I am using a timer to investigate the microphone .activityLevel property every 50 milliseconds:
Is it possible to record speech in AS3 and to write the spoken words into a textfile or something? Or maybe record something twice and compare this to each other? Like if I would record the word "Hello" and then the word "Hi" and it returns me a false or something like that.
I have an application with a collection of sounds in the timeline. One sound file is recorded at a slightly lower volume than the others. I know I could change this in Audacity but I'm wondering whether I could attach a line of actionscript to its button to raise its volume slightly.I know its possible to do this when playing sounds with actionscript directly from the library, but that would be too big a departure from the development style used.
If I have library song playing using a simple code like: var mySong:Song = new Song();mySong.play(); How do I use a button to control its volume so that each time it is clicked the volume goes up or down by a little.
Is it possibleto get the sound volume of of a specific frame or specific time of sound item with the Flash Javascript API maybe together with Action Script?
I'm trying to set a volume to my external sound. I'm using the following code, there're no errors, but the volume is not affected...
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("squeeak3.mp3");var sound:Sound = new Sound();var controller:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();var myTransform = new SoundTransform();myTransform.volume = 0.2;controller.soundTransform = myTransform;
