I'm having a strange problem with regexps. I have several sentences that I want to break up into individual words without punctuation. I also want each punctuation mark as a separate element in the array. I used some code from the ActionScript 3.0 cookbook to create the following code:

I am rendering html in a Flex 3.x UITextField. The problem I am facing now is that when punctuation is at the end of a word, it can sometimes be wrapped to the next line.
For example:
That which doesn't kill me makes me stronger ,so I became a developer.
This seems like a bug in the algorithm to me. Is there a workaround?

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor

I thought I was done with my project today- and at the nth hour, right before it was time to go home, sigh, - I realized that for some reason, neither the numbers or punctuation were showing up in dynamic text that was being pulled in via XML. I have since tried to move to Arial (textformat.font = "Arial" and setting embed font to true in the txtboxes) which does not display any punctuation. Is there a function to allow this or is it more complex?

what i really want is the punctuation put into its own array. i strip c like this: Code: var strings = c.split(" "); and of course that places every character into the array and the last character is "legs!". for other purposes i need to split it in every character but how can i now separate the punctuation (in order) so i can recall it later.

I've got a textfield with a bunch of punctuation which is always surrounded by spaces. So that for instance: I don't recall saying 'pick up the boot' or 'now is the time'. But it's possible , so I may have. What is the regular expression syntax to get rid of these spaces? I'm working in actionscript. It's actually both leading and trailing, as you can see from the above example.

The quiz actually consists of memorizing a sentence or two from say a poem and I'd like to not include any errors of punctuation due to a misplaced or missed comma, exclamation pt or period. as long as the spelling is good then the user should get the correct answer. I'm trying to break a movieclip into pixels and then move each pixel independently, but am having a hard time wrapping my brain around the code.
Right now I have a MC on the stage with an image in it. I'm able to go through each pixel, copy them one at a time then add a tween like this:

i'm using this code i got on-line, the text is being outputted through a dynamic text box, which is multi line enabled and html. Yet I just can't seem to get a single line break, i can get a double by doing a normal line break in notepad. But i need a single. And <br> doesn't seem to work.
