ActionScript 3.0 :: Run The External Swf's Actions When It's Called Main-intro.sql
Nov 11, 2009
I have a swf called main.swf that is loading an external swf called main-intro.swf.main-intro.swf has a clip that fades up and then I have a stop action 24 frames in. The problem is is that I get a null object reference error (1009) when calling the external swf. If I remove the stop action then it works, if I rename the external swf to intro-main.swf it works with the (stop action).It seems it just doesn't want to run the external swf's actions when it's called main-intro.sql
I have one swf called main.swf which has a container movieclip that gets external swf's loaded into it.
my external swf is called hosting and it calls an array of data that is loaded into a movieclip that is duplicate for each element from the database. The elements from the database are as follows:
Business Economy Power Standard
Each one of these has a button over it that when press loads information from the database into a movieclip that contains a textbox. My button code is: _root.movieclip.loadVariables("url to database");
This works flawlessly when I run the hosting.swf by itself, but when it is loaded into the contianer in the main.swf the buttons dont work. I believe that it is the _root in the button call that is causing this but I dont know how to fix it. I think the _root variable changes when hosting is loaded into the main.swf.
I have a problem with buttons and transitions and it is similar to a problem I had a couple of days ago that I posted and that was sorted out. I have two buttons onstage (they're inside a movie clip) inside the movie, on the button one I have the following
[Code]....
I have similar code on button two and this does indeed make the buttons move into place as required. My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.
I want to load an external swf called 'signs.swf' into an empty mc called 'signholder'.
var loadit2 = new Loader(); loadit2.load(new URLRequest("signs.swf")); signholder.addChild(loadit2);
Everything works. Cool. But, I now want to target something within the signs.swf. How do I do it though? What is the path? Do I have to give the child of signholder an instance name? Everything I try fails.
If I wanted the root timeline of the external swf to gotoAndPlay(2) for example,...would i say...
signholder.loadit2.gotoAndPlay(2) ??? var wow:MovieClip = loadit2.content as MovieClip; wow.gotoAndPlay(2) ????
i want to make an intro swf which is small and loads quickly but i would like the main swf to start loading while the intro is playing. i'm not worried about the intro finishing once the main movie is loaded but i just want to the main movie to START loading while the intro is playing to cut down on load time.
I created an intro_mc on frame 1 of my main timeline that I want to play before loading the rest of the site. I have nothing else on the first frame except intro_mc, and actionscript.Script on main timeline is: intro_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);top();The timeline inside intro_mc has this actionscript on the very last frame:gotoAndPlay(2, "Scene 1");So right now, the it just stops on the first frame. If I take out the stop(); action, it just skips over my intro_mc and loads the whole site.
I have a full flash website which is broken down into:
- Main movie which contains navigation and interface components
- Several content movies which are loaded into the main movie on demand
- An intro movie which is around 3MB in size; its a full CG movie.
At the moment the main movie preloads and then the intro movie preloads afterwards in a sequence; like so:
Main Movie > Intro Movie > Content Loads
There is a skip intro option which will skip the intro movie step and jump right to the content load once the main movie has loaded.
My client wants me to do something which is proving very difficult and I am starting to wonder if its even possible as searches on the net have given results which don't really work properly.
Here is what I need to do:
When the main movie is requested, its preloader appears which it has a load bar and a "skip intro" button. The difference being, this preloader will be loading the main movie AND the preloader; which the load bar representing both movies load progress.
To complicate matters, if the skip intro button is pressed, the preloader needs to drop the intro movie from the equation and just account for the main movie & thus skip the intro; straight to the content.
The way I have tried to do it is to have a preloader code in the intro which sends the total size and bytesloaded back to the main movie which deals with those values, adding it onto its own size. This is proving cumbersome and although appeared to be working, isn't working propery.
I have designing my website with Dreamweaver and am wondering how exactly I can make a non-interactive slideshow for my main page, preferably in Flash or Fireworks. I want the slideshow to begin each time the main page is loaded. I have been using Simple viewer to make my galleries because I don't know html, I'm a photojournalism major and happened to get the entire cs4 suite with my macbook. I'd like to learn to put more than PS and Indesign to good use.
I have created a number of Projectors which are all linked with loadMovieNum. The problem is is that they don't load when I open them I go from the Intro to the Main but only the Intro shows up and when I click enter it does not go to the next projector which is the main.
I'm building an animation intensive website and I want to keep my code centralized on the first frame of the main timeline. Most of the intro animations (like building the sites common elements such as menu, header, etc...) have to be done on a timeline since they are pretty complex. Would you keep the main timeline with only one frame and attach the animations via actionscript, or would you place the intro animations on the main timeline, stretching it out?
I usually place the intro and common element setups all on the main timeline cause that gives me more control on linking animations together. For example: the intro plays, then the menu loads in, then some special effects popup, and then the home content is loaded in. But since some people advocate for single frame main timelines, I'm wondering if there is a better approach.
I'm trying to display objects from class files and methods.
Now I was looking at the source of this project here [URL]
To learn how to do this from AS3, main question I have how is the Main() class being called there? There is no actionscript in the frames of the FLAs so where is the call coming from to the Main class to initialize display? Is there something special about the Main() class that has it called when a swf is loaded.
I tried to duplicate it by making a simple Main which extends MovieClip and simply placing it in the root folder of the project but it isn't being auto called and it hasn't worked.
I have a movieClip called target_mc on the main timeline... Inside that movieClip, I have four frame animation where there are aim1_mc and aim2_mc on each frame...I also have a for loop that hides aim1_mc on all the frames... It works fine on the first loop, but I see the aim1_mc of the frame 1 from the second loop...
ActionScript Code: this.target_mc.onEnterFrame = function () {
On my main timeline I have an empty MC that my external swf's get loaded into once a user makes his selection from the menu.I would like to tween the load in and load out of these swfs.What is the best way to go about this?Should I add a Listener to the main timeline that listens for my MC to be called? I guess the real hangup here for me is understanding how to initiate the tween on load in and load out.
I have a very simple .fla. One frame, one button on the main stage. I have named the button and when I right click>actions, it says I can't put actions in this area. So then I put the Actions on the main timeline/keyframe. The code below works, but I can't get code to work in the button that I placed on the main stage. This button is dynamically placed by the first two lines of code.
Code: var MyButton:ButtonOne = new ButtonOne(); MyButton.x = 100; MyButton.y = 300; addChild(MyButton); MyButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,startMC); function startMC(event:MouseEvent){ myMovieClip.gotoAndPlay(11); }
If I try to just have the code that looks something like this.. Code: ButtonOne.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startMC); //movie clip function startMC sits here.. I get an error saying the symbol doesn't exist.
Can I place all of my .fla AS3 code in a class called main.as?I dont want to run my as3 project from the .fla but how do I start the main.as?my .fla file looks like this and I dont know how to put this into a class?Do I simply do this in line 1 of fla file?
var mymain:main=new main();
Code:
var noLoaded:int; noLoaded=0; var li2:ClassImg6= new ClassImg6(); li2.addEventListener("image_loaded",imageLoadedHandler);
If I create a movieclip and inside it I write some actions, for example set values to some variables, how can I retrieve those values to my main action script frame in the stage?
Im trying to call to the main.swf other swf that contains some text and a google map. The swf that contains the google map is working fine...but everytime i play the main one, the text appears but the gmap doesnt.the code that i put on the main.swf refering to the google maps one is below (i followed the logic of the gallery that came with the presentation .fla):
// google-maps module case "google-maps" : if (firstLoad != true) { var move1Content:Tween = new Tween(contentBG_mc, "_x", Strong.easeIn, contentBG_mc._x, -500, 0.5, true);
I'm writing an Air application using only Actionscript, and Flex3 SDK as the compiler. Everything compiles and runs fine under adl, but when the final air file is built and installed, the main class is never initialized.[code]When run under ADL, "Init" will be output to the console, but when installed and run, nothing happens (the constructor for class main is never called).
I am trying to jump from one scene called main to other named tutorial 1-6 here is my code to jump to tutorial 2 as an example
on (release) { _root.gotoAndPlay("Tutorial2"); }
I've tried every variation that I can think of, no _root gotoAndStop and also putting in _root.gotoAndStop("Tutorial 2", 1);
i dont know if it makes a difference but the navigation buttons are on a movie clip which pops up over the main stage...if that makes sense, that flash file is huge i didnt want to attach the whole thing...
I can't figure out why this text file won't load when its parent swf is being called into the main swf but will separately. in an actions layer on the main timeline I'm using this code: _root.contents.loadMovie("easter_scroll.swf"); I'm calling the easter_scroll.swf, which calls Easter.txt, into index_main.swf but the text file doesn't load although the easter_scroll.swf loads. I am confident one of you flash gurus can figure this out.
If I have an FLV that I've output as SWF with skin to have embedded into an HTML page, and now a 'skip intro' is needed - though I'd have to make note of the actual time or keyframe in which the intro completes...How is this possible? Clearly, a button would need to be added for that kind of interactivity?
I feel this could be pretty basic for you guys. Here's the deal: I need an external swf to check a var's value and decide how to animate. If value == "something" then animate in like this, else, animate in like that. Now, a file is loaded with LoadManager class, and a function from this class sends a string to the loaded swf, and based on that string it animates out. I've tried to make the same function set a public var's value inside the LoadMangaer class, but i can't acces it from the external swf.
It will probably make sence when you look at the fla and the LoadManager class, so here's the attachment.Hope you can help, I've been dwelling on this for ages. Tnx a million.
I have a movie clip that I imported into flash, used a skin and have a nice little player for this website intro. I want to proceed to the sites home page upon completion of the movie. Searched but the best I could come up with was;
I have a 10 second Intro video that I would like to play before each main video plays. The videos are streaming through FMS 3.5. At the moment I have to attach the intro to the start of the main videos and render out in Premiere Pro CS5 Ideally I would like to set it up so that the intro starts for the 10 seconds and then auto switches to the manin video. To show an example of what I need to do here is a link to an Archery site ( I also do archery as a hobby and noticed this)[URL] If you click on any of the 8 parts for either day 1 or Day two, you will notice a couple the 5 second intro screens and it then automatically goes back to 0 to start the main video.
I am looking to load an external swf as an intro to a project I am working on. I want the external swf to trigger the main timeline to goto frame 3 when completed. What is the best way to achieve this?
I Have a flashmovie thats almost done and will soon hit the internet, but I want to add some animations into the website its two gears that Im about to put at the bottom of the page and when a button releases in the main flashmovie the two bottom gears will turn a few frames and just stand still.These three movies are all separate (main movie, first gear and second gear).
It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?
I'm developing a game, here is a screenshot:I have a function in my main loop called moveShip that moves the player's ship if some buttons are pressed. The trouble is, some commands began to break it recently, such as removeChild(debriefingScreen), and I have no idea why. Also, firing (spawning bullet movie clips) restores the moveShip functionality 0_
I want to do is a simple transition that allows to me start some function (at the external swf!) to dismount the LOADED content. I'd like to change the external contents with intros and "outros" located on their own timelines.. It's a simple logic, but I dont know how to manage that.. Everytime I try some simple, it never happens.
I am calling a group of "large" jpgs into a slide show viaxml at runtime.The files are at size and with no compression as they are seelocally on a touchscreen.They look good in Pshop on screen, but when viewed in the swfthey have odd edges in t etext areas or anywhere there is adramatic shift in color or contrast. It looks like compressionissues, but I have been through each file multiple times andnothing seems to be wrong.Is there a limit to what file size can be imported andmanaged clearly by flash?Movie is 1924 x 1200 and the slideshow running in the windois 1277x959(rgb,jpg,files@72DPI)Image quality is very important on these because they are on
