ActionScript 3.0 :: Button On Main Stage - Cannot Put Actions?
Apr 19, 2009
I have a very simple .fla. One frame, one button on the main stage. I have named the button and when I right click>actions, it says I can't put actions in this area. So then I put the Actions on the main timeline/keyframe. The code below works, but I can't get code to work in the button that I placed on the main stage. This button is dynamically placed by the first two lines of code.
Code:
var MyButton:ButtonOne = new ButtonOne();
MyButton.x = 100;
MyButton.y = 300;
addChild(MyButton);
MyButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,startMC);
function startMC(event:MouseEvent){
myMovieClip.gotoAndPlay(11);
}
If I try to just have the code that looks something like this..
Code:
ButtonOne.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, startMC);
//movie clip function startMC sits here..
I get an error saying the symbol doesn't exist.
I have a movie with two squares. Depending on which button is pressed, the demmensions of the both squares change for which I used the following function:
The code for the other buttons is the same but with other arguments. Now do I also need to integrate a loadMovie in the different button actions, to load the different ext.swf's in a container on the stage, but I only want the swf's to load after the callback is finished (when the squares qre not moving any more) How does the loadMovie should look like?
How to control button in movie clip in order to exit back to the main stage. I used this code: on(release){ _parent.gotoAndPlay(1); }
The thing is: In the main page I have a manu you can choose to which movie clip to go. (The first frame on the main stage has a stop(); action in order to be able to choose). And the code bring me back to the main page but start the specific movie clip I exit from all over again. How can I stop this loop?
I have one button and it's primary role is to stop all sounds in the project when triggered. It is just positioned on the main stage in the main project, not inside of a MC.
I then have a very simple music playing system (4 buttons, one for each song) in it's own MC which displays text of the artist and title song when respective buttons are pressed.
This works fine, apart from the fact that when I click the 'stop sounds' button the text is still displayed from whetever the last song was that had been playing.
I was thinking there must be a simple method of incorporating an actionscript function into the 'stop sounds' button, so that when it's pressed it also takes control of the movie clip and moves it to the first frame which doesn't display any of this text.
I was thinking of a simple gotoAndPlay command followed by something, but I don't know the command to tell Flash where to find frame 1 of this movie clip rather than just frame one of the whole project.
I have a button that I cant link. This was the correct code for the movieclip. Code: MovieClip(this.parent).tint_mc.gotoAndPlay("on"); Only now I have a button inside a movieclip. And Flash cant find my button from the mainstage. I tried Code: Button(this.parent).fac_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,link);
In the attached file you can see 2 .Fla files a CS5 and CS4, they are the same! I have a main global scrollbar which compares to the other scrollbars that are loaded from the countries drop down menu on the top left..(you can see it clearly) Scrollbars work fine...however... i do need the user to be able to scroll simultaneously the scroll bars either with a button somewhere on stage or with another main bar..
On the main stage I have a button that I have made invisible once the file is loaded. Inside a movieclip I have on frame 15 the following actionscript 3 code
button_mc.visible = true;
I want the button to become visible at the end of this movieclip. I am not using an external as3 file, I am putting the as3 code in its own layer on the first frame.
I know it has something to do with the path to the button, but I cannot figure it out. If there is anyone who can point me in the right direction for referencing instances by instance name that reside on the main satge from inside a movieclip
I just wonder that how can i write this code that means if the "specific" button is clicked(i mean if the homebutton is clicked=true) like this.. and how can i refer a button that in main stage while in an another clip's substage..

I have created a website which loads external swfs as pages onto the main stage on the click of a button. I am using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 3.0. Here is my code:
I have a swf called main.swf that is loading an external swf called main-intro.swf.main-intro.swf has a clip that fades up and then I have a stop action 24 frames in. The problem is is that I get a null object reference error (1009) when calling the external swf. If I remove the stop action then it works, if I rename the external swf to intro-main.swf it works with the (stop action).It seems it just doesn't want to run the external swf's actions when it's called main-intro.sql
If I create a movieclip and inside it I write some actions, for example set values to some variables, how can I retrieve those values to my main action script frame in the stage?
How I can restrict actions to the stage? I have objects that float dynamically when I move the mouse over the stage. If I publish my file as html and click on the area surrounding the stage the objects move...
I Have a flashmovie thats almost done and will soon hit the internet, but I want to add some animations into the website its two gears that Im about to put at the bottom of the page and when a button releases in the main flashmovie the two bottom gears will turn a few frames and just stand still.These three movies are all separate (main movie, first gear and second gear).
It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?
I got this early version of a sliding menu. See file "scrolling.fla". Its got four images that slides into place when you click on the small colored buttons. The thing is I want the movie to quit/shut down when I press the red button, AFTER the red image has moved back in place.The code for the red button is:
on (press) { _root.xnew = _root.mask2._x+(-2-1)*458.5/2; }
I added the following:
on (rollOut) { _root.unloadMovie(); }
It works in a sense but I dont want to use "on (rollOut)", because you might shut down the slideshow involuntary moving the cursor on your way to the other buttons. So the question is, yet again, how to quit the movie after the red image is back in place?
is it possible to add multiple actions to the same button.e.g.on stage theres only one button, on first click it should make mc1 visible , on second click it should make mc2 visible and so on.
I need add another code to hide textarea-load.swf from my movie and this action should occur when I press same button once again . Note : I don`t have any movie with "555" instance name but it helps me to run my movie
I got four buttons that pull up images in a slide show. I want the fourth button to first pull the image in place and THEN shut down the movie clip. I thought this would be easy, but no. Unfortunately I can´t attach the fla-file on this forum. You could take a look at this:
on (press) { _root.xnew = _root.mask2._x+(-2-1)*458.5/2; }
That´s the code for the last/fourth button, it pulls the fourth image in place. So that´s in order.I added this below in the same script:
on (rollOut) { _root.unloadMovie(); }
It works in a sense. The movie falls into place when I click the button and the movie quits when I move the cursor. But it also means you might shut down the slide show involuntary when you move the cursor going for any of the other buttons.
I have made a simple menu with a 'slider' using this tutorial. What I am wondering is if it's possible to have different actions for one button. Here is my first menu button:
Code: on (rollOver) { // slider - Movie Clip's Instance Name. button_1 - Button's Instance Name.
How can I make a mc witch I us as a button fuctional for two actions.I mean when I press the button that a clib fades out and when I press again it fades in again I tried it with an if but the it only works one time.This is the script
Code: but.onRelease = function(){ if (mc._alpha <= 1){
I used a tutorial to attempt to set up my code so that after a button is released and an external .swf is loaded the same button can't be activated again (on release or on rollover) until a different button is released.
Here is an example of my actionscript. What I'm trying to do here is just have the button not replay the mc in the over state if it's movie clip is already loaded in[code]...
I have a symbol that is movieclip (symbol name switch) which has got a switch on/off image inside it, if u click it, the 'switch on' image comes (frame 5) and when u click again the 'switch off' image comes (frame 1) Nw i want the symbol such that when i press it not only does the 'switch on' image come, but also change the image of another movieclip (symbol name 0bit) which is in the root timeline and not inside "switch" symbol
This is killing me, real simple. I have an mc that has 12 buttons on 12 layersall btns have alpha tweens for 10 frames so the appear like thisbtn 1 alpha fr 1 to 10btn2 alpha fr10 to 20btn3 alpha fr20 to 30 and so on.
I have a project where I have 80 or so invisible buttons, that when clicked, need to load a movie clip from the library into a mc on the stage, as well as cause a rollover and rollout state on a "movie clip button" that's sitting underneath the invisible button. This is in ActionScript 2.0.Here's a example of one of my button actions:
ActionScript Code:[code]....
The way it works is "invis_1_1" is the first invisible button in a group, the 1_1 refers to the button being in the first column and the first row in a grid. The "movie button" it's controlling is "col1row1" which has a "on" and "off" state. When the invisible button is clicked it loads "1_1", which is a movie clip in the library, into a holder movie clip.The dilema I'm running into is I'll need to write this code over 80 times with a slight change each time to the instance names etc. I'm sure there's a way to do this with an array but I'm still new to using arrays.
