I have a mc on the stage that loads a scrollbar and inside this scroll bar is the mc MyPens that contains my button p1. Well, I made a login page with flash and php. So I was wondering how can I make it so that I can send variables to another frame.
Like I have a button, when you press it, it connects to the database, and it checks your login. Then it gets all the variables. So how can I get the variables for every page on my flash project?
The only way I can think of now, is setting a dynamic text to the variable..
I have a XMLSocket and I call send twice in the same function. The first send works but the second does not? Does XMLSocket have a restriction to only send one message per frame? Do I have to queue messages and have an onEnterFrame function that checks the queue and sends one message for a frame?
I want to draw some combination of bitmaps, flash shapes, vectors, text etc and draw them programmatically into my movie using ActionScript, and then get every "rendered" pixel of my movie (at 100% view) into an array that I send to another program over TCP/IP. The first part of the question is if its possible to render a frame that is a collection of Flash elements as a bitmap? I know that I can iterate through a bitmap and get every pixel using the getPixel method but I'm trying to access the final rendered frame displayed on my screen, including, as I said Flash shapes and text.
The second question is what would be the best way to send this "video frame" over TCP/IP? Would I use an XML socket connection? That is the only way I know how to send data out of Flash over TCP/IP but I don't know if it is the only way - the help page says the data needs to be formatted as XML, which seems unwieldly for this application. I'm doing this now by using Max/MSP/Jitter to do a screen capture the size and location of my Flash movie and then send out the resulting matrix using a "jit.net.send" object (which lets you send frames of video over TCP/IP), but this is too clumsy for the installation I am building.

I am in the final stages of building my new web site: http:[url]....On most of the pages in the portfolio there is a video "Commentary" link (top right corner).Each of the commentaries are flv called up by f.ex:

Once the video is done playing, it fades to black.I would really like the flv to trigger an event to send the playhead to another frame and load another swf.I could use a pause command and let the main time line pause so many milliseconds and then proceed, but it is probably not consistent how long it takes each viewer to download the video and watch it.
I have code to send a movieclip to a frame label which works just fine, but I want to pull the frame labels from a database for multiple movieclips and send them to different frames.. the following works :-

I have a layer called "home_movie" and on that later on the end frame is a movie clip that plays, what i want to happen at the end of the animation is it to send the user back to the frame above they started at. which is layer: home_movie, frame id: main_movieopt but its not working.
I have a .swf menu with 20 or so links. Each link opens up a new html page that in turn embeds the same swf menu. All I want is to simply have the html tell the swf to gotoAndStop a specific frame label that really just 'highlights' that particular button, so the user knows where they are. that's it... used to be able to do this with fsCommand, or so i thought.

I am actually discovering Classes.I try to make a class that reads out an XML file and than converts it into arrays.the array is well created in the class file, but I can't send it back to the swf correctly: it only duplicates the first item of the array in an infinite loop, but when I trace it into the class the output displays it right..
with this code I call the class:

a week ago I bought the following monster template template:[URL]..my last changes to it were to the popup boxes that appear on the SERVICII page when you click those titles there. Right after those changes it compiled and published, everything ok, i did several other tasks in Photoshop then back to my flash and at the next recompile, Error - Send don't send Flash has to close. I reopened it and it keeps closing forced. I tried undoing my steps but nothing worked. I am desperate, the project is due completion on saturday and my source is messed up.
Can anyone tell me why I get that? Has anyone been in a similar situation.I am a flash newbie, I saw no errors in "Compiler Errors" or in "Output", just force closing the Flash CS3.

i have a movieclip on stage. it has 3 frames but is stopped with "stop():" so it only shows the first frame on mousedown i want it to play frame 2 for a duration of 1 frame then frame 3.
This is a snippet of some code I'm working on. Currently I have a mc that you press that plays another mc. That mc that reacts has 5 frames, each frame with stop(); on each frame. I do a normal play code because it lets me play through and cycle back to frame 1 after frame 5 (so if I click the mc it eventually cycles back to the first frame and starts the process over again). If I do a nextframe it stops at frame 5, so that's why I use play.
press_mc click on it and it tells mover2_mc to advance a frame and recycles back to frame one to redo the process.Can I tell press_mc to play and skip a frame or to have it play a list of frames that I tell? I can't do a _currentframe +2 because it'll halt at frame 5.
Just finally making the transition from AS2 to AS3.All i need to do at this point is make two buttons which will control the movie to goto next frame and previous frame. I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.

i created a two layer in time line in one layer there is a movieclip called mc1. In the same layer in 15th frame i have another movie clip mc2. Inside the movieclip mc2 i created another movie clip at frame10 now if i clik the the mc1 on first frame The movie clip should goto and stop at tenth frame
I have 3 frames each with a movie clip called map_mc. Each different map_mc have different objects that call the CollisionDetect class. Heres whats happening. objects from frame 1 will start freaking out when I goto frame 2. How do I remove only the event listeners from objects only on frame 1?
I have been trying this.currentFrame but the problem is that all the objects are inside map_mc on the first frame so no matter what it will always be 1. On the other hand MovieClip(root).currentFrame will always give me the current frame but wont tell me what the objects frame is relative to the stage.What I want to do is have something to this effect:MovieClip(root).this.currentFrame would output that this object is on frame 1 and MovieClip(root).currentFrame will tell me that the stage is on frame 2 so I can remove the listeners accordingly.
