ActionScript 3.0 :: Setting The Size Of Swf Being Imported?
Jan 15, 2009
I am attaching a swf. to to main document using AS3 to import the .swf and it is coming out a bit distorted. I think the default size is stretching it out and it is a logo, so it looks funny. I was wondering if and how I could set the size of the swf in the code, so that it doesn't appear at the default size.
I've had this annoying problem since CS1 and persists through CS3. If i import an image (either to stage or to library then placed on stage) the pixel size reported in the properties box is smaller by a very small amount. For example, I just dropped a 1005x650 PNG on the stage. The properties box shows this as w[1004.8] h[649.9]. The file is 72ppi in photoshop. Zooming in confirms that the image is shrunk slightly. In this case, the image was same size as the stage and I could see the white background showing through on the right edge of the graphic. It means that everytime i put a bitmap graphic on the stage, I have to correct the w and h in the properties box.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Does it occur in CS4?
I have a small question about the size of images imported to flash.Recently I imported a series of png images to flash CS5 to be used in an animation, 92 images to be exact. Each image was 34Kb size. Before I imported the images, the FLA was 6kb, and after I imported them the FLA was 160 MB large. Now 33Kb * 92 isn't 160 MB, so why does this happen? Is there any way to decrease the image quality or something when importing, or do I have to do that manually when creating the images?
(I used photoshop, and the images have a transparent background if that makes a difference).
I'm using Loader to load an external swf into my swf and adding that loaded swf to the stage using event.target.content.If i set the width and height of the loaded swf I actually resize the movieclip inside my loaded swf. What I wanna do is change the stage size of the loaded swf.
build a links page on my flash site to my friend's sites. This seems like it would be easy, but I can't seem to figure it out...Basically the problem is with the popup window size. I don't want their website browser window to cover my site, so I need some sort of script within my flash site to control how big the window size of their site pops up.I found this line of code in my searches, but it doesn't do anything when the button is clicked:
on (release) { getURL("javascript:openwin('http://www.technofisch.com', 600, 400)"); }
So I'm stuck. I'm also having the same problem with a PDF file. I have my resume as a PDF the pops up when the link is clicked, but I don't know how to control how big this window is, as it is a direct link to the file and no html.
is it possible to set the stage (the actual flash movie as it appears on the screen to the user) size in as2.0? i have a photo gallery that i plan on reusing on several sites and i need it to be different sizes on each site and i'd rather standardize it so that i never have to open the .fla file, just open the XML file that it pulls all of the images from and have an attribute for the stage size. my xml file is as follows where movie_width and movie_height would be the dimensions of the flash file as it appears on the site.
How can a set the image size in the above code. I've tried inserting width and height parameters just after the image's path but an error is thrown. I would like for the image's width to be as wide as the dynmic text infoBox.informationText
Also the path to each image equals a variable called calledMarkerContent How could I set the img src equal to the variable called calledMarkerContent?
I am loading the SWF just fine, but I want the SWF to fit the root stage exactly. What happens instead is that the external SWF seems to include white space from around itself.
For example, the author-set width of the Tanks game (an example file I was using) is 550px, but when I set the width of loadEvent.currentTarget.content.width to 550px, the game is resized to maybe 350px width. I have to set the value of loadEvent.currentTarget.content.width to something like 640 in order to get the game itself to make full use of those 550 pixels.
I have CS4 with AS3. I hard-coded values for cWidth and cHeight instead of getting them from flashvars because I am just testing in the IDE right now. Normally I would get those vars from flashvars.
How can I set font size of title property (header) in TitleWindow component? If I use fontSize property, it sets the font size for all components in TitleWindow, which is not what I want. I only want to set it for the title. I'm using Flex 3.
Is it possible to set the frame count of a video manually in Flash BUilder 4? How is the frame length of a video determined in Flash Builder 4? I need to do this in order to trick video format converters into thinking that my video is actually x frames long instead of just 1 (my swf video is controlled completely through as3 code and thus resided on just the 1st frame). This way, the video format converters will be able to automatically (and correctly) convert my videos to another format (flv is desired). Another solution to this would be a converter that actually automatically converts based on video length rather than frame count, but I have already thoroughly searched for one and one doesn't seem to exist.
I'm trying to set the minimum size of the window of a creative suite extension. I don't want the user to be able to resize the window to a smaller size than the one I define.
Here is what I've tried to do:
var instance:CSXSInterface = CSXSInterface.getInstance(); var extension:Extension = instance.getExtensions([instance.getExtensionId()]).data[0] as Extension; extension.minHeight = 350;
I have created a fla file in adobe flash cs3. This contains a mainstage with a menu (is a movieclip) and a background (actionscript gradient). I have set the movie to scale so that when it is viewed in a browser it will be adjusted to the size of that window.
My problem or what I want is the following : - The menu and text of that menu must stay the same size, as created in the fla file, when a scale is done. - The content of the movie(not the menu) must stay in proportion.
An example site that I found, that demonstrates what I want is [URL]. You can change the browser window size and the menu text size stays the same but the content goes in proportion of the window size.
I'm playing around with the scaleX/Y in the canvas tag and have noticed some strange behaviour. When I set scale in in mxml the width and height of the canvas are adjusted accordingly. For example if I have a canvas like this: <mx:Canvas width="1000" height="1000" scaleX="0.1" scaleY="0.1" />
The canvas now appears on screen to have a width and height of 100 and if inside my creationComplete callback I check the width and height property they are indeed 100. But if I do exactly the same thing except I set the scaleX/Y property from actionscript the canvas on screen appears to have a width and height of 100 as expected, but when I check the width and height property of the canvas they are still at the previous values of 1000.
So ive been asked to build a page for a real state company and the guy told me it should be similar to these [URL] Ive been trying a couple of weeks so far, but i dont seem to find a way to do somthing similar, i mean, i want to have the welcome screen as those two:
- the gradient background - flash occupies whole screen no matter what size it is - gradient expands sideways infinately - no matter what height my explorer window is, gradient is always in the same position relative to top, and if i keep expanding downwards the background keeps last colour of the gradient. - the brand logo looks as if it had top, left and right anchors, and it also limitates the minimum width of the explorer window
i though of addind a 3000 x 3000px square with the gradient and centering it, but i know there has to be a professional way of achieving that.
I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

I need it to stay exactly at the same position whatever the size of the movie-clip. [code]...
I made a preloader for my single scene movie and although the preloader is about 16k, when placed into frame 1 of the movie and tested, the frame is shown to have about 256k, which is larger than the movie it's loading. I've gone through all the files and made sure that export in frame 1 is not checked and made sure the publish settings also are set to export in frame 1.
I would like to know how to make flash size (width and height) full size in the browser? the real size of flash is w:955px h:600px I tried to make w:100% and h:100%, it makes pictures pixelate.
I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides. Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:
<mx:Panel> width="100%" height="100%" </mx:Panel>
Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width. If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
I have a list of fonts obtained via Font.enumerateFonts() and I want to display them all as 12 pixels tall. The problem is that I cannot simply set the point size because this can vary in actual pixel size for each font. So basically I want to determine what the correct point size is for a font in order to make it exactly 12 pixels tall. Because I'm doing this with a potentially large list I'm looking for an efficient method to do this.
I need to make a button animate from its normal size to a larger size but in a fluid scaled motion. I'm using a png image I cant seem to get it to scale from small to big when animating, and I have inserted a motion tween.
I have three images and I want change the images size based on the scene size (default size is 1024x768). After each image has completely loaded I call bindableUtils.setter to set width/height when scene size changes but I don't know how to make a pointer or something like that. I'm using a public var img, but it only works with the last complete image.
Here is my code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
I am developing an AS3 application (not a Flex one) using Flash Builder 4.5. My application can set its graphical components automatically according to stageWidth/stageHeight. My problem is with the actual application size. If I do not specify width/height in the SWF meta tag, my application is compiled according to the default (550x400?). If I do specify (for example 800x480), I won't be able to support other resolutions correctly.
Is there a way to tell the compiler to see the application size according to the device's/stage's sizes?
I'm trying to print a movieclip from flash. I'm using the PrintJob pageWidth and pageHeight properties to scale the clip to be as large as possible. Also, I'm trying to center the movieclip on the page. Now, in the standalone player, this works. In a browser however, the margins appear to be zero:[code]But when printing, the margins are there, and mess up the page layout (not centered + cropping).
I want to reduce the size of Swf using the size mentioned in the object tag of html. Same swf file size can be different for different request.
The problem is this if we reduce the size all control in swf reduced according to the change in swf size. But we want the buttons and one more graphics remain same size for any change in size of swf file. How can we make it ..
