I want to add a logo to my dynamic menu tabs, the code below adds the logoLdr to the very last tab, but i want to add logoLdr to the first tab generated?How do i target individual tabs in this loop?

Im creating movieclips based on the items in an xml file. It pulls the data in ok, and loads in an image from the given description, and poisitions the clips ok.
Where i'm falling down its assigning button functions to these clips. I can not reference the clips indivually it always refers to the last clip created.
I'm new to AS3 and have the following problem. MovieCLips inside another container MovieClip won't respond to a DOUBLE_CLICK event. I've added EventListeners for MOUSE_DOWN and MOUSE_UP and the contained MovieClips respond well to those, but not the DOUBLE_CLICK (Argh). Why? Doesn't DOUBLE_CLICK propugate to the children inside the container? I've tried doubleClickEnabled = true, but that don't work.
I have main MC when press it opens up and then has buttons in that MC.if main_MC is open then press it again will close it. Problem is I need to target the buttons inside main_MC but I can't cause it targets main_MC and thus closes the MCI tried doing main_MC.sub_MC.onPress = function ...... but it still targets the main_MC.
I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor
I am a bit new at this, but I am creating a flash site in which I want to have it adjusted to the individual browser size. I already have placed an expanding background so that it will fit proportionaly to any site. Now I would like to have a menu which loads from top to bottom (from the very top, crossing to the bottom) but with a style of a fade effect.. not just a bar moving down.. but rather that it is being built while it comes down. For example the right side comes down but a bit after the left side and then the fill color.. and afterwards the text on it. And then have it so that when one clicks on one of the links.. the entire menu moves to the right border of the page so as to make space for the content. I am not sure if I expressed myself well. I am not looking for a complete lesson on how to do this.. but more or less what it would take in order for me to go step by step doing the reaserch and building it.
I have a small problem with dynamic targeting inside a loop. Shortly, I have some buttons which I add listeners to in a loop. loop works fine. I got everything to work, but the second line in it gives this error : TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert []@d4abe81 to Function.[code]Can anyone help me with the correct syntax for the second line ?
I can't seem to target the mc's that I have pre-loaded externally. The problem is that mcs like 'screen_roadmap' play at the beginning of the compiled movie, and not when I make them visible by pressing on the button. I currently have a stop(); command on frame one, so I would like the movieclip to gotoAndPlay(2); only when I press the button. I have tried things like : this["screen_roadmap"].gotoAndPlay(2);. I used this code from an actionscript book, but it makes no mention of targeting the mcs.
Ive been talking about this in another thread, but I guess its a better idea to start a new thread to ask this question: How can I target a named instance of a dynamic text field that is inside a button, which is inside a movie clip, which is on the root timeline, from a frame in the root timeline?
I tried _root.movieclipname.buttonname.txtfieldname but that doesnt work...and to make issues a little more complicated, its not a static movie clip, but a duplicate that needs to be targeted every iteration of a 'for' loop.
I thought it would be something like -
_root.movieclipname[i].buttonname.txtfieldname
But thats not working...How can I target that textfield?

I'm trying to target a dynamic text box for a slideshow that is located in an attached movieclip.This is the array:var slideShow = ["slide1", "slide2", "slide3", "slide4"]; Each slide is a movie clip that is loaded with attachMovie(). These movies each have a dynamic textbox named "slideDescription". How would I be able to target that text box and get it to change the desciption each time I move to the next slide in the array?
I'm trying to create a movieclip from the library dynamically on a certain event and then being able to target one specific movieclip by name after they've been created. I'm having problems being able to target and have tried a tone of different approaches, I think I'm close but I'm getting the error '#1006: getChildByName is not a function.'

I'm building an Xml-driven application. I create new states in a separate actionscript-class.These states all contain a DataGrid. I can switch the states in the Main.mxml.
But now I would like to access certain children of the DataGrid. In this case I would like to toggle the visibility of GridItems, from a Button in the Main.mxml.
How do I have access and apply this to the already created states ? I tried to create RemoveChilds and override/push it to the state.All I archieved was to remove an entire GridRow at the very last state, but it should be just one GridItem at every state.
In this game attached I need the old Children (rats) to hurt the character when he walks into them, however only the most recently added Child is active in that way... also the rats seem to appear above the character instead of below, is there any way to resolve these issues??
I have a Sprite called pageContent. Inside pageContent are 12 more Sprites with unique names, a couple of Buttons, and some TextFields. Inside each of the 12 Sprites I have either one or two TextFields and one TextInput. My question is, since they are children inside a child of pageContent, how can I access them? In my mind, this should totally work. But surprise, surprise, it doesn't. I have debugged it and it works fine for the first two lines, but when it tries to get numChildren of a Child of pageContent (line 3), I get this error: PHP Code: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property numChildren through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObject.
I want to have a rollover effect of a movieclip (mo1) inside a movieclip (mo) of another movieclip (popup1).Is it possible to do that? I try calling it using this code in the frame 1 of my flash, am i doing wrongly?

getChildren() returns only the top level children. What is the best way to retrieve all the children (children of children of children and so on).
Well, I sorta know how to do this by iterating through the children, but the code is really messy. I'd prefer to use a nice recursive function. Has anyone written this before? Or is there a Util class to do this?

for some reason STORAGE[0].getChildAt(0) works whereas liner.getChildAt(0).getChildAt(0) does not. STORAGE is a movieclip and a child of liner. the error is something about not being able to use getChildAt on a display object. what's wrong? is there any other approach i could use? PS: liner.getChildAt(0) works and does indeed seem to refer to STORAGE[0]
make an interactive flash simulation of a display that has several different settings. these need to work individually so that the user can set the different indicators to the number they want. the picture shows the two main functions; a number indicator and a status bar (kind of like the reception bar on a phone).i have tried to get .swf files to load on top of each other, but they keep erasing previous settings in other indicators. is there a way to get this to work? or maybe a completely different approach that would be smoother? or can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial or a template that has this function?

With get- and setTextformat I can set the individual color of a section in a TextField. There is a problem with getting and setting a textformat from and to a TLF (set- does give an error message when putting the TextFormat back to the TLF).Now if I have two strings and want them to have different color and size in one TLF what would be a good way to do that. I don't want to programm all TextFormat propertys for every different Text in my application.
