When the page loads, the first menu button (PORTFOLIO) is automatically OnClick. I want the user to be able to rollover it and click it when the page loads. I attached my file.

View 1 RepliesBasically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I'm currently working on a flashsite and are trying to figure out rollover menu buttons. The site has 6 menu buttons and are placed next to each other. I want to put a rollover action on the buttons, that when you rollover a button that the whole button image enlarges and moves in front of the other.

On a menu I have various school subjects. I have a separate movie for each subject. When you click a subject on the menu; a coresponding movie loads on the stage.
The actionscripting is quite simple:

Yet however I try I can't get the swf to load .
I realise I need to configure the target so the swf loads in the right place but I'm unsure if this is the problem.
I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

The website contains a preloader, an introduction movie, and dynamically loads external swfs when click the menu buttons. I am struggling with the preloader part. My preloader movie does not shown until 50% and disappears at 90%. I have searched for solutions on the internet for days but could not find any. I attached my source file as well as the swf.

I am trying to build a website that uses the XML menu in kirupa tutorials. However, I am trying to customise it but I am having problems trying to solve this impossible task! Basically, instead of it being a drop down menu, I am trying to make the menu work on Click instead on RollOver. When the user clicks "on" a link, the link will keep an on state. And when the user clicks on the sub link, that sub link will keep an "on" state.
However, when the user selects a different menu item on the main level, the other "on" states will turn off. So basically I am trying to set up perhaps a variable that remembers which menu item is on and loops through the same level and automacally switches the other items off. Is that confusing? I AM!
i'm making a rollover menu with AS3, and when the user mouse clicks I want it to go to a certain frame in a movie clip and stop. It does this fine, however I have an animation for it to play on Mouse out. So when user mouse clicks then mouse outs from the button area it plays my mouse out animation and i'm back to square one. How can i tell it to ignore the mouse out animation if the user has clicked the button?

I have a site which is basically made up of two swfs. TopNav.swf, which is a dropdown menu, and container.swf. TopNav.swf is loaded into the container.swf. Right underneath TopNav is a movieClip that serves as a link. But for some reason once the dropdown menu rolls over the movieClip, the link disappears and is no longer clickable.

I'm going to use swfaddress for deeplinkng, but my question is: when the user click on one menu voice the main swf load an external swf. now, when i click on another swf i must make a out-transition of the current loaded how can i detect in the external swf that the user click another menu voice? Or i must do the out-transition in the main swf?

When a user rolls over a button, a image fades in somewhere else on the stage, possibly below the button being rolled over. Then when its clicked (the button) the image (possibly) expands and text is showed while the background is faded.
View 5 RepliesI am trying find the correct as3 code to make a button on Click, open a pdf in a new window. I have tried different ways, but when I add the code not only does it give me errors, but it makes my swf flip through all the pages instead of stopping on load. It is fine before I enter the code for this button. Just to let you know, this button is within a movie clip on the main stage. I really wanted it in a MC within another MC, but can't figure out where to put the code.
Should it go on the main timeline, where all the rest of the code is, or should it go within the MC?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to edit a Flash file, that get it's data from and XML file.Now when you click on one of the menu items, the page + page title should change, but somehow the page title remains the same. (at least for the first 3 menu items) But when you go to the last menu item and then back to one of the first 3 menu items, the correct page title is shown.I'm no flash / AS expert, so I can't really find out what the problem is, but it seems like it has something to do with this function

I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code

I have a movie clip that loads in the main timeline, when i click on any of my buttons theres a quick flash of the main page. Im loading my movies on level 1 so i guess my question is, how do i get rid of the movie on the main time line?

i have a movieclip file named "mainPage". mainPage contains 6 buttons (with a cyrstal design) but lets focus only on 1 button. The 1st button contains the name Art_btn which calls the movieclip artBook when the button is clicked (which is my problem) . I have another movieclip named "artBook". the contents in my artBook are separated or written on each frames that could be called when clicked next or prev.
here is my prob. i dont know what is the right code that would call for artBook when Art_btn is clicked.i tried inserting codes such as loadMovie, gotoAndPlay and addChild but when I test it, the mainPage contents doesnt show up and it produces errors.

ive followed Senoculars drop-down menu tute [URL], awsome stuff, but it seems the submenu's dont disappear to well when you roll out. ..They only disappear if you click on another menu item or when you click outside the menu.

Take a look at this site. [URL] You notice when you click on a button the current 'site' you are on dissapears befor the next one loads. How is this done? It's like the code tells flash first to 'close' the current page and then load the page you clicked on.
View 1 RepliesI've had this problem numerous times. I want to disable click events for a Button and have the Button appear disabled, but still respond to rollOver/rollOut events.
1. Consider a UI where users can vote for items they are viewing via a "vote" button when viewing an item -- they view one item at a time and there's one vote button on the UI.
2. User clicks "vote" and it sends the vote information to server etc, and stores in the session that the user voted for that item.
3. User can only vote for an item once. So to reflect this, I disable the vote button via Button.enabled = false. This makes the button visually disabled for the user and the user can't click it to vote again.
4. However, I want the user to know why the vote button is disabled, in case they forget they voted for the item and don't intuitively know why the button is disabled. In order to do this, I want rolling over the disabled button to give the user some feedback, like a tooltip that says "You already voted for this item."
5. Because the Button is disabled, I cannot respond to rollOver or mouseOver events.
There are alternative ways to letting the user know why something is disabled, but many times I think a roll over response with a visually disabled button fits the UI situation best. The only solutions I've come with are to check hitTestPoint with the mouse location on mouseMove (nasty) or create an invisible overlay button over the disabled button (also nasty.)
I'm creating a roll over menu where, when your mouse is hovering over a button, a menu below that button appears, and then you can go over that new menu and click another button which links to a different page. My problem is that when you hover over the new menu that appears, the whole menu flashes rapidly. This only happens when I try to place a button on the new menu.

and I have this swf file with cms that I'd like for this menu to load. Currently the swf file load external text using this code:

but when the xml menu loads this swf file its structure loads but not its data.I tried using :
