ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Doesn't Play On Internet?
May 18, 2011
why this Flash video doesn't play. I checked to make sure it is in the correct format. I've tried FLV and H.264 neither of which plays. The custom play button appears and the alpha goes to 0 when clicked but the video doesn't play. It works in the flash environment and on my desktop when I dropped it into an html shell.
Following embed code is from [URL] but it doesn't work in Internet Explorer 8. Firefox no problems. Any recommendations for improvements?

UPDATE 2010-05-14: If I'm not mistaken HD.se uses Flowplayer and all those flasvars are for that. Perhaps someone here is good with Flowplayer? I've never used it myself.
If I open the swf on my computer, it plays with no problem at all. When I upload and try to open the file in my browser, I click the initial image that takes you to frame 2 to play the video, and it just sits there blank and does nothing. Could anyone take a look at it for me? [URL]
I'm using Flash CS4 and have linked to a video that hosted on a web server with one of the preloaded flash video skins (ArcticExternalAll). When the page loads the video plays without any problems, but I would like to make it so the user decides when the video starts rather than it automatically starting when the page loads. Is there any way to do this?
I just updated to CS5 - I'm working on a custom video player. It works fine embedded in a web page both locally and on the network. It works fine in the debug player. However, when I test it in the authoring player I get a NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound error and no video. I have tried setting the Local Playback Security publish settings to both local and network - doesn't find the video either way.
It used to run fine in CS4 in the authoring environment.
I am using Video (actionscript-controlled) component in my videoRecorder swf. What it does is it connects to webcam, record the video. This works fine. The problem comes when playing the flv back. After user stops the recording, I am using the same video component to play back the flv. But, it doesn't work. Checked the url, and its fine. When I use the same flv url in any flv player, the video gets played back. Am I missing something? Or Video (actionscript-controlled) can't handle playback videos?[code]
I have a video in a frame that corresponds with the label "eight". i have a button on the timeline with the following code. i've tried it both gotoAndStop and gotoAndPlay and it doesn't work.
Internet Explorer will not display flash video in stand alone video players, similar to the one at: [URL] The other embedded flash content is viewable. In the IE8 tools, manage add on's, Adobe Flash Player is not listed.I've also noticed that when I access the Adobe Flash Settings manager, I can not uncheck "hardware acceleration".Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 is the operating system.
When I press CTRL + Enter inside Flash CS4, my movie exports perfectly. No errors. However, when I quit flash and load my movie or when I upload my movie on the internet, there are some mysterious errors (mostly null object references right from the start).
I'm building a streaming mp3 player. So that you can load a mp3 from all over the internet in a streaming way, but soon It became obvious that when I set the loadSound to true (used to stream sounds) that sometimes the mp3 begins to stop and load and then play again. A sort of short stops. So I thought let's place a buffer so that when the song is loaded half way it's starts playing and gone are the short stops. But that's where my problem started and some questions arised. I use the onload method to check if any sounds are loaded into the sound object. I used this sentense to handle the onload action:[code]But now that I'm not exactly streaming anymore, so I have set the loadSound to false. Now I wonder if the onID3 method I used for getting some specific information out of the mp3 also acts like a none streaming file stream? Also something is wrong with my check if the loading process is half way.I have some songs on my pc and one on the internet. The songs on my pc load very well. (offcourse ) But they don't get into my if statement. And the song loaded from an internet adress doesn't even get into the onload function
I'm using swfobject (2.2) to load blip.tv videos. Everything was working fine with their old player, but now that they have switched to the stratos player, it fails to load properly in IE. It shows a grey video window, with the play button half showing on the left side, and the button won't work.
Here is my js code:
function loadBlip(videoFile,width,height,cssID) { var blipSWF = "http://blip.tv/scripts/flash/stratos.swf"; var expressSWF = "/lib/js/swfobject/expressInstall.swf"; var attributes = {
[Code]......
The file that I pass to the loadBlip function looks like: [URL]
Again, this works fine in FF/Chrome/Safari, but fails in IE.
trying to create a character selection screen type thing works fine on my computer but when i load it to internet characters dont load up dont understand why characters and profile images are external image files so i think that reason why its not working is because the swf is trying to display the image before its properly loaded up
so im thinking perhaps if i add some sort of bytes total/bytes loaded script where its trying to load up and display the image it will check if the image is fully loaded before it tries to display the image think that will work ... if that's what the issue is but not certain.
I,am using FMS 3.5 to stream video over internet. This video will be a part of a website www.mywebsite.com . I have the webserver in my company. This webserver has the local LAN IP : 192.168.10.19 which is binded with a public internet ip 212.77.xx.xx .This website is hosted using IIS 6.0 on OS windows 2003 server with SP2.I created a swf name sample.swf from sample.flv file and gave it the rtmp address as follows: url...is the instance on the server, and 192.168.10.19 is the LAN IP of server) ,and it worked fine and every one within the local company network could see the streaming video. Now i tried to replace this local address with the public address and the address became as follows: url...After giving this public IP in the rtmp address i,am getting a message "Failed to load Flv from the address url...and as as result the video is not streamed and it only shows the progress bar on the link url... without loading the video. I have also checked the ports 80,1935,1111 on the server and they are open. Is there any problem with my rtmp address with public IP or any other reason ??
I've been spending hours now reading up on IE7's issue with rendering Flash content on top of other elements, particularly navigation menus (this is often a problem with dropdown menus and Flash ad banners, for example).
Update
At Mercator's request, I am providing a large code-sample to assist in any advice you might have. Consider the HTML below:
[code]...
The footpanel uses jQuery-powered flyout menus, if that provides any further context. These menus have z-indexes in the 300X range to appear above the footpanel. The Flash in question is JW player playing a flash video or mp4. Currently, the object and embed tags are inside a container div.My understanding of previous solutions was that the combination of the param changes and the positioning/z-index change on the container div should have resolved the issue. Alas, it is not so. The player resides on top of the footpanel.Other information that may or may not be helpful is that the page is XHTML 1.0 Transitional and that Dreamweaver reports 1 error in the HTML code: <embed> is not in the XHTML 1.0 specification. This fact does not prevent the video from being viewed in any browser tested, and the page still displays correctly in FF.
I'm putting an swf on a website and it's working great except for IE. (Although it works great in IE 9). In some versions of IE it will start to play then stop as if the video was never load and in others it will just go white. It works great in other browsers, just our favorite browser IE seems to screw it up (big surprise).
i'm working on desktop application that should open remote flash object with flashvars parameters.I tried with shockwave flash object library, but seems that flashvars option is not working. Also i have temporary solution with webbrowser control and making flash object filled. But webbrowser require Internet explorer with flash player installed. I can install flash player with my setup installer, but can't install flash in internet explorer automatically.
I use FCE to edit video. I then convert the video to flv for delivery (viewing) via the Internet. I've read lots of discussion on how to create the flv. I've tried various methods, including:
1) Since I have Flash installed on my computer, I've used FCE's Quicktime conversion to export/encode directly to flv, and
2) Export an uncompressed QT movie from FCE; then used Flash Video Encoder to convert the .mov to .flv
What's best practice (I'm open to other procedures too)?
I use video player from the flash media server and it will playback url.. as this originates from Flash media encoder then i have to enter this on the videoplayer but when i replace localhost with my IP address i get no joy at all. Also i can run url...ok from videoplayer in the media server but it allows the user to use http so how is this achieve as i cannot get it to work at all. tells me there is no connection. also this i try using local host and my IP address as well but no joy.
The website that I built, I used Adobe media encoder and flash to make it a .flv file, the website works fine as far as playing the pages with video in Safari and Firefox, when I go to the same website in internet explorer the video plays with a big black border each of my video's, why would that be ?
I am trying to find a way to embed a live video stream on a webpage accessible via the internet. I have my video server setup so that multicast streaming over my LAN works. The only problem I face now is figuring out how to embed the live video object into my webpage. I am wondering if I could use a converter like ffmpeg and flex to accomplish this? If this is not the right place to post this, just let me know and I'll repost in the proper place.
as the AS causing it to drop down and return to its original position. Everything works great in Safari and Firefox. However, Internet Explorer doesn't recognize the "else" condition on the y-axis. It doesn't return the drop down to it's original position???
At the end of the movie I would like to check if the user is still connected to the Internet (they maybe on an unstable dial-up connection and lost connection). Is there anyway to do that? I mean, is there a way to check if a user is connected to the Internet using ActionScript?
