ActionScript 3.0 :: When Loader.swf Loads The RSL And The Other 10 Swfs The Loader Throws Errors?
Aug 12, 2009
i have a main loader swf file called loader.swf and it loads an RSL.swf (runtime shared library for my swf files) and then 10 swf files, each one to a container (fE.: movieclip '01' in loader.swf, then movieclip '02' and so on). the 10 swf files have a lot of references to RSL.swf, and i have to use RSL.the problem is when loader.swf loads the RSL and the other 10 swfs the loader throws errors like this:
Code:
*** Security Sandbox Violation ***[code]...
then i put in EVERY swf files (loader,RSL and the other 10) the code Security.allowDomain ("*") but throws the same errors...

I have two swf files, each one almost with the same classes, the most important one is a Singleton class, each swf does "singleton.getInstance()". The diference is that one swf is like a container and the other one is like a module. So when the container loads the module from an absolute path like loader.load("file://c:/modules/module.swf") or loader.load("[URL]"), two different singletons (same class) are created
But when the container loads from a relative path like loader.load("module.swf") , just one singleton is created (that is what I want) I am just intrigued with this behavior, could someone explain me this? PD: I believe is something related to loaderContext and applicationDomain but It also appears that isn't working right. -Patricio Foieri , Vertigo Labs

I have a main "shell" swf which, by clicking several buttons, will load/unload various external swfs into a Placeholder_mc which resides on the main timeline in Shell.swf In the documentation and tutorials I've seen a couple different methods, and I'm not sure I quite understand the difference, or at least the reason you would use one over the other...In the 1st method, you can just add the Loader object using the addChild() method:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf");
myLoader.load(myURLRequest);
Placeholder_mc.addChild(myLoader);
This will apparently add myLoader to the display list once it has completely loaded.The 2nd method, you supposedly can add the Loader.content; however, it appears you can only do this once the content has completed loading, so you need to incorporate an event handler with the contentLoaderInfo object:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var myURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ExternalFileA.swf");
myLoader.load(myURLRequest);
[code]....
What are the pros/cons of adding the entire Loader object, as opposed to the Loader.content and vice versa?

I'm new in the flash world. I'm trying to set up my website but I keep on getting errors! I manage to create a loader to load the images of my portfolio, first I couldn't remove the previous image, when I loaded the second one, the first one was still there. Now it seems to disappear when I added the line removeChild(loader1). BUT I still get a message in the output panel:
ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild() at prueba3_fla::MainTimeline/clickF2()
I don't know if this is going to be a problem in the future or not. I don't have any idea of what this message is talking about

The SWF loads itself almost entirely before even displaying Frame 1 (the pre-loader). Said pre-loader exists in it's own scene; when this scene is exported on it's own, the file size is 1.6 megs (the full export of all scenes is 1.9 megs). There is VERY little content in the preloader, in fact, a blank first scene exported on it's own is ALSO 1.6 megs. There is, however, a lot of content throughout the rest of the file (music, graphics, font, all embedded at the request of a client).It looks sort of like it's trying to ensure that some arbitrary amount of the resources are present before the first frame loads.
I used to be deep into Flash way back in the CS3 days, but haven't touched it since; the result is I am fairly familiar with AS3 but CS5's new features (many of which seem to replace entirely code-oriented methods with point and click methods) often times make me scratch my head, so you'll have to forgive me if this is the sort of 'five times a week question' y'all are numb to by this point.but I'm still not entirely sure.I've already scraped every last little bit of that awful TLF text stuff from the project, and I've fiddled with the action script settings but haven't had any luck.I'm not exactly sure what code to post here, as little of it seems relevant (after all, the problem appears to be happening before anything I've written runs). Please, though, if there's anything I can do to make this more clear, I'm totally willing to oblige.

I have a UI loader that loads pictures from a drop down selection. I would like the data to be cached after it is loaded, but it doesn't seem to be doing this. Every time someone selects something different in the drop down, the image reloads.

Is it possible to get a loader to load and display a random image?My background images are quite large so I would prefer to use a loader to keep the file size down but I'm struggling to work out how to randomise the images.

I have a preloader in the first frame of my movie but when i test it, it takes awhile before anything shows up because the components that i am using in the movie all seem to be added in the first frame even though the actual component is in another frame. Is there any way to get around this?

I have a class that loads a list of images in an XML file. The XML file can potentially contain any number of image URLs.Would it be advised to call Loader.load() in a for each loop, causing every image to be loaded concurrently? Will there be a point at which the number of concurrent loads is too much for the system or the bandwidth, or does flash have some sort of intrinsic load management?

i just setup this loader i found on the net:
Code:
var l:Loader = new Loader();
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);[code]....
what i dont understand is that everytime i click the refresh page the loader shows up again(this time loading the image faster) but if the image is already in cache the loader should not show at all (?),i would like to achieve a loader that loads the image and after dont come up again everytime.

I am using a content loader through AS3 to load some images and then later pushed into an array. I have pushed my image file paths in to an array (arrayImages). But when the loader loads the images it doesn't load the images based on the order they are listed in the arrayImages, instead they were loaded based on their file sizes. Is there anyway that these can be loaded in the order they were pushed to the array? Below is the code that i use to load the images.
function funcLoadImages() {
for (var i:uint=0; i<arrayImages.length; i++) {
var ldrImageLoader:Loader=new Loader();
ldrImageLoader.load(new URLRequest(arrayImages[i]));ldrImageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE,pushLoadedImagetoAnotherArray);
}
}

I have my swf (embedded in a JSP page) deployed in Sun Application Server. My swf contains a Loader component which loads image through accessing the url of my servlet. This servlet of mine returns an image. Now, when i try it inside our network, it works both for IE and FireFox. But when i try it on an external network, the Loader loads the image for IE but it doesn't for FireFox. I'm doubting it is an acess problem since it works in IE.

I have a flash file with frame labels, home, profile, contact.it also has 4 separate photogalleries, gal1, gal2, gal3, gal4 also in frame labels. the galleries are all separate swf files. I used the UI loader and added gal1.swf and 3 more separate loaders for the rest of the galleries. What happens is after you select the first gallery the mouse becomes invisible because the loader is still on the stage. How do I remove the loader from the stage each time I use a button?

I'm getting this sort of error while trying to load SWF's inside another swf (using the Loader)
ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property stageTitleLabel on Main.
at flash.display::Sprite/flash.display:Sprite::constructChildren()
at flash.display::Sprite$iinit()
at Main$iinit()
I've kinda tracked down the issue to not having "Declare Stage Instances Automatically" checked, as I am declaring the stage instances in the code, so that the code will compile in Flash Develop as well as the IDE (i.e. in the flex compilor as wel as the IDE)

This is driving me crazy. When I preview in Flash, everything looks fine. When I preview in HTML. Not so much. I've created a gallery using xml and have the code centering (and otherwise positioning) each new loaded item by referencing each ones information.
It seems to have trouble doing this with the first swf and positioning it at 0,0 after I click through the forward/back buttons that swf moves to a different location on the stage. My guess is that the loader height and width get calculated as 0,0 before the image gets loaded, and then screws everything up from there.
import fl.transitions.*;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import flash.display.LoaderInfo;

why rapid clicking (moving to another part of the gallery) makes the loader loads the wrong picture?

as you can see it loads an new swf on top of my main. I did not relaize that because of a dropdown menu in the main.swf evrytime I load another swf on top ie obscures the dropdown. besides putting the dropdown in each swf and removing it from the main which would be the obvious, I wanted to avoid this as the loded swfs will have slideshow pro videos which will be a bit heavy.

The title describes the problem: Loader.load() is firing the INIT event, but in my listener it's reporting loader.content as null. The description for INIT event is "Dispatched by the associated LoaderInfo object when the properties and methods of the loaded SWF file are accessible."I'm loading a lot of JPG images, and 95 percent of the time it works fine; the init listener fires and reports valid loader. content.I absolutely need loader.content available because I need to set the bitmap smoothing property to true.I've tried using Event.COMPLETE and it has the exact same problematic behavior.

I have the following code which simply loads an external swf, puts it in the right place and should all be hunky dory.This works:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
addChild(myLoader);
var url:URLRequest=new URLRequest("foobar.swf");[code].....
to set the dimensions of the loader so the external swf doesn't 'spill over', the result is a blank screen. No matter how high I set those dimensions it just doesn't display anything.

I got this very strange behavior from FlashPlayer debugger 10.1 r82. When I call loader.load method, no ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. But if I open the file and call loader.loadBytes instead, an ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. I suspect the ADDED event is dispatched because the content is being set as the child of Loader object, but why in the other case it is not dispatched?

the file loads correctly but the loading screen only flashes up at the end.The only thing being exported in frame 1 is the loader image, and that is extremely small.Is it possible that there's a queue of things being loaded and the loader image is at the bottom of that queue? Since that was one of the last things added to the project

I'm loading some images with Loaders, cloning the BitmapData to a new Bitmap, and adding the Bitmap as a child of a Sprite. So far, so good. I want the Loaders I'm using to be removed by garbage collection, which they seem to be. The problem, or so it seems, is that when the Loaders are cleaned up, the Bitmaps I'm creating lose their data.
Edit: All this is happening when a class is instanced, and many copies of this class are being used as actors in a game. As the Actors are being created the older ones are losing their BitmapData to garbage cleanup. When all of them are finally loaded, only the last few are visible. I've rewritten my posted code as a class. If I prevent the Loaders from being cleaned up by somehow keeping a reference to them, the Bitmaps don't lose the data, but I don't want these Loaders hanging around.

I want to ' import ' or ' download ' some SWF file into my main-swf file. I then want them to do a lot of communication back and forth. The best would be if I could just call functions from the new SWF file from my main-swf file, or the other way around. Do I use the loader class? And do I use the .parent.parent thing? Or is there a better solution?

I'm using Loader::load() successfully to load swfs into my main swf and then I add them as a child of a Sprite. When other events occur I want to remove the swfs as needed. I have looked at unload() and at removeChildAt() without success.
I only added the addChild() call to try to pin down the loaded instance so I could remove it. The loading works fine without the addChild();
I have also tried publishing to player v.10 and using myLoader.unloadAndStop(); but this has no effect either;
The following demo code shows my problem. I see one child added and one removed but intro.swf is still playing away.
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.display.LoaderInfo;
[Code].....
