In my code I am creating MCs and having them drop down the screen at varying speeds, but am having a hard time thinking of an easy way so that if one MC 'overtakes' another slower-moving one it will be displayed above it.I really don't want to have to run a hit test every frame for every MC through the array of MCs..
I'm loading some product names into a textfield and I got few buttons with some of those product names on it.When a product button is clicked, how do I make the textfield scroll automatically and to display that particular item in a specified Y position?
I added a Menu_mc on my stage. Initially, this should be at the center of the stage and when I click on it, it will tween on the upper left corner of the browser. However, when I resize the browser, the Menu_mc goes back to the center of the screen.
I have tried separating a different actionscript file where it is specifically for initialization of the object and another one for resizing. And then when I call it on my main AS file it goes like this:
Code: // Add the symbols to stage var Menu_mc = new Menu_MC(); addChild(Menu_mc);
I'm hoping someone can solve this headache. Basically, I want a movieclip to move to the position of each of my buttons from any position along my x axis. Therefore, the movieclip needs to 'flip' to face the way it is traveling.At the moment I have the movieclip moving to the mouse x axis when I ROLLOVER the button and stop following the mouse when I ROLLOUT but the code won't flip the movieclip so I must have something wrong...
lets say i have a sprite on the stage and one movieclip inside it. now i want to tween or just set that movieclip x and/or y position according to stage position. so for example i want to set mc.y = - 100; (by which i mean -100 to stage, not sprite which mc is in.)
What i'd like to do is have a menu/site map that adjusts when you click on a certain icon. For example, I have a AS3.0 flash file with, say, 5 keyframes with 5 buttons that are in different positions on each key frame. The buttons are set to gotoAndPlay the various keyframes. I can set up a tween that links frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 etc. but what I would like is a tween from, say, 1 to 3, then 3 to 5, then 5 to 1 - basically in a random order rather than sequentially through the key frames. I could set each of these tweens up individually but the site is for a portfolio that I would like to keep adding to and to do this individually would mean an ever increasing amount of tweens.Basically, is there a way to get a 'MovieClip' to move from Position A in keyframe 1 to Position B in another keyframe without a set of tween frames? I'm sure this is simpler than I am making it sound but I don't seem to be able to work it out.
using the following jumpTo script as a guide how do I write an if statement for a function that will basically ask "if the movieclip is at position 3 stay there, otherwise jumpTo position 2"?
Code: var bg1x = new Array(0, -1280, -1014, 0); function jumpTobg1X(number) { gradientNav_mc.newX = bg1x[number]; }
I have tried a bunch of if/else statements but I can't get it working. I can't figure out how to write it properly. I tried something like this:
Okay I have a script in which I have added an image to the stage. It is absolute centered. I then have another with is on top but much bigger. I would like the big image to move opposite of my mouse position on the smaller image. ie: cursor is on bottom left corner the bottom left corner of the larger image is in the same spot. And the same thing for any other area.
I have tried many different ways but to no avail. I have done research but no one has been able to give me a solid answer. Anyone know of a way to accomplish this. Keep in mind this it needs to work regardless of the image size.

I haven't found anything in the forums which solves this problem.
I have a movie clip called "myMC". I set its x value as such:
[AS] var myMC:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); addChild(myMC); myMC.x = 100;
[Code]....
I know I could proboly acheive this with a math equation but is there a function that can get the exact global position of "myShape"? So that I can position another movieclip or sprite around that movieclip?
I'm trying to make a football game whereby the player stops footballs kicked by the computer from entering a goal...So far i've got the player controlled goalie moving back and forth upon keypress, and I have tweened the scorer continuously moving left and right at the top of the screen.
Is it possible to make the scorer automatically launch a ball movieclip straight down the screen whenever a specific interval of time has passed?
When i put a movieclip on the stage, every time i do that, i have to click on it, press f9 (to show the movieclip actions pannel) and past a code on it... and i will use this movielcip a lot of times in my project, so, everytime i put it on the stage i have to put the code on it again... is there a way to attribute the same code to my movieclip (automatically) everytime i put my mc on the stage?
Howz the day? Well im new to Flash scripting. Can you guide me for the following problem.I generated the xml file through that data in it, i would like to get the output in flash file (.fla).
[Code]...
Where in this xml file number of object type of content and image are not same for every page.For every content like to create <TextField> as well as every image like to create <Movieclip> automatically based on every page.After generating the objects in the xml file into the flash scripting.If its more than one page.User can able to view in the format of <NEXT> and <PREVIOUS> button.So this is the scenario.if anyone come across this problem just tell your way of suggestion,snippets or sample peice of code to move ahead further.
How do a make a center a mc automaticly on the stage with aS. The script should detect what the stage size is and move the mc to the middle. I am making smartclip-preloader and want to be as productive as possible later on.
I want my SWF to fill the browser window, but it's not working in Chrome/FireFox unless the user manually resizes the browser. I'm using Adobe's default, generated html + swfobject.js to show my SWF. In the html, I replaced all flashcontent heights and widths with 100%. Unfortunately, in Chrome when you first open the page the Flash MovieClip doesn't fill the browser and instead retains it's default height and width.
If the user resizes the browser window, everything works fine. Is there a javascript trick or something I can do to make the Flash think it's being resized? I never want scrollbars to appear. I want my application to scale and fill the browser window perfectly -- I want it to get really small if the browser is small and really big if the browser is big. Basically, I want my app to run like a normal Windows app, such as Visual Studio, but in a browser.
I am trying out the following code, so that whenever I make a movieclip null, the array containing it's reference too becomes null. I understand the following code cannot do this, but I want somehow, the array can provide information, if the movieclip has got null.
import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event; var a_arr:Array = new Array(a_Mc,b_Mc); trace(a_arr); a_Mc= null ; trace(a_arr);
Output is: [object MovieClip],[object MovieClip] But I want something like null, [object MovieClip ]
is it possible for me to give a movieclip the same position as another movieclip. meaning they will be on top of eachother and when one moves the other moves as well.i know you can do it with the mouse:[code]It would be a great way to cheat the program as im having some problems, but this would fix it. the 2 movieclips though is in a class and the other is on the stage.
what the line of code would be-- where having made several buttons, on rollover, scales their respective image. However, on scaling, these images are arranged according to their layers and would therefore be obscured by text or an adjacent image.How could I make it so that everytime I rollover the hotspot, the image will scale and automatically arrange itself to the front of everything? Is there anything to do with its depth and setting its properties?
I've developed a project with the help of kglad in which the user enters in a numerical amount into an input text box and 3 other boxes (dynamic text boxes) display numerical amounts based on that input.With the great help of kglad I have gotten everything to work just perfectly except that those 3 boxes don't round off the results they display.
For example, if I input 265.35 into tf1 (text field 1), tf2 displays 132.675, tf3 displays 66.3375, and tf4 dispalys 132.675. Now according to the math that is programmed, that is correct. But I need them to display: 132.68, 66.34, and 132.68, either rounding up or down accordingly.
I want to know is that a way to get position of MovieClip A in MovieClip B.Let say in MovieClip B (MovB), I have an MovieClip A (MovA) moving around, and I would like another MovieClip C (MovC) to follow the MovA moving around inside MovB.
