ActionScript 3 :: Replacing Display Object With New One In Flash

Dec 15, 2011

I'm creating a Flash movie that loads some XML containing details of some text and a image URL, that needs to replace a existing MovieClip in a Flash movie. Is there a way in Flash to replace a existing MovieClip or to update it so that the updated/new display object keeps the original look of the original display object and any Tweening for the original display object still works we the new or updated display object.

Here is the code I'm using to load this:
import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;
import flash.net.URLLoader;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.display.DisplayObject;
[Code] .....

Actionscript 3 :: Get Unrotated Display Object Width/height Of A Rotated Display Object?

Jan 31, 2010

If I create a rectangle with 100px width and 100px height and then rotate it, the size of the element's "box" will have increased.With 45 rotation, the size becomes about 143x143 (from 100x100).Doing sometimes like cos(angleRad) * currentWidth seems to work for 45 rotation, but for other bigger angles it doesn't.At the moment I am doing this:

var currentRotation = object.rotation;
object.rotation = 0;
var normalizedWidth = object.width;

ActionScript 3.0 :: Replacing Same Object In Two Arrays?

Feb 15, 2010

I'm creating two different arrays and pushing a number of objects into each of them. Some objects get pushed into *both* arrays, and these objects often contain their own array of objects as well.Now, when I replace one of these nested objects (an child object in the array of one of the objects that exists in *both* of the top-level arrays) with a different object in *one* of the arrays, the change doesn't seem to reflect in the other array that this object is also in.

I've simplified it for testing, removing the nested array, and the same still seems to hold true: replacing one object in one array with an entirely new one seems to only replace it in one array. This sort of makes sense, but is there some way I can get around this? In testing I've figured out that changing *properties* of the same object in two arrays works fine and reflects in both, but not replacing an object entirely. Some sample code below.

Test code:

Code:
var arrayOne:Array = new Array();
var arrayTwo:Array = new Array();
for (var q:int=0; q<3; q++) {
var newObject:Object = new Object();

[code]...

Html :: Css Div Display On Top Of Flash Object

Jun 22, 2011

I have a flash slideshow with 2 divs overlaying it, one at the top and one at the bottom.[code]Both overlay properly in Firefox/Safari/Chrome, but nothing I try seems to make it work in IE. I'm using Remy Sharp's HTML 5 enabling script to make the HTML5 mark-up work in lower versions of IE.What's funny is that the second div, #intro overlays correctly, but #top-menu always appears behind the` slideshow.All 3 elements are absolutely positioned with z-indexes explicitly set. No matter how high or low I set them the flash object is always in front of the #top-menu element.I have checked the rendered <param> tags and one of them lists wmode as transparent.The flash object is dynamically inserted with php through a CMS, so I have no access to the <embed> tag that many have suggested adding the transparent attribute to.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Display 1 Display Object Many Times?

Aug 14, 2009

Can you make one Bitmap Object (I'm using an external jpg) or something similar, and then display it many times simultaneously without creating a separate object each time?

Also, would they be easily removed or hidden?

I've got a little checkmark jpg graphic loaded here, but I'm not sure how to go about using it in many places at once.. I can only display it in the one place at any one time...

I'm thinking there might be a way to load the picture once, then use its bitmapData elsewhere in new display objects somehow, without needing to reload the image over and over?

Flash :: Does The Display Index Effect The Scope Of An Object

Jan 29, 2010

know if the index effect the scope of an object because I am creating a game and for some reason, I get an error like below

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at com.objects::Torret/updateObject()
at com.objects::EngineApi/loop()

[Code].....

updateObject is the loop for all my objects. I have one centralized loop and in that loop it calls on an array of objects that have been placed on the stage. all of them containing the method updateObject. to update the status of the object. addGameChild() is a encapsulated addChild() , that not only adds the object to the stage, but places it in a array so it's updateObject() method can be called on. it is also used to make it easier for garbage collection.

Actionscript 3 :: Take Snapshot Of Display Object Visible Area In Flash?

Jul 28, 2011

I have camera input app in flash (AS3) and I draw some graphics over it. I want to take the image snapshot of the stage visible area but only the video an graphics I draw over video. I want to exclude controls from the image snapshot. My display object layout is in following relation:

-stage
--canvas (Sprite)
---video (Video)[code]..........

Stage size is fixed and I want to take a image snapshot of everything that is child of my canvas element (camera input video and overlayed graphics, but excluding controls). I am able to make this image snapshot when overlayed graphics are inside the bounds of stage size. I do it like this:

var bmpd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(canvas.width, canvas.height);
bmpd.draw(canvas, new Matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, canvas.x, canvas.y));

But this gives me unwanted result when graphics which I draw on top of video on canvas exceed the bounds of stage display area. How do I limit the image snapshot only in the bounds of visible area inside stage?

There's a SWF file on one page that, when you click on a 'Start' button loads some image. The URL to this image is passed as a SWFObject variable. I would like to change this image to one I have uploaded on my host. have tried setting a breakpoint on the line that pushes the image URL variable to the object and setting my URL, but the image wouldn't load because of cross-domain policy.Now I am thinking of writing a simple c# proxy which will return my image instead of the real one when Flash requests it .To sum it up, I want to replace an image that SWF loads from a constant URL to a custom image of mine. Decompiling is not an option.
