I have created a text file with the following information:[code]The issue is that the "+" (plus sign") doesn't show at all? I have used the following code in the fla. to replace the special char's and it works for everything but the "+" sign![code]Does anyone is a problem or why the "+" isn't working?
Is it normal behavior, if createTextLine method of TextBlock class splits content text ":sometext" or ";sometext" , into two lines evenif the the method parameter width is long enough
So my string is something like "BlaBlaBlaDDDaaa2aaa345" I want to get rid of its sub string which is "BlaBlaBlaDDD" so the result of operation will be a string "aaa2aaa345" How to perform such thing with actionscript?
I need to create a tall background, when the user clicks on a button the background will scroll up and down to the area that the user wants to go to. ( I attach an image of how that might look like)
The background is divided in to 4 sections, the way i figure to do this, is to have each section be a different part of the timeline- and what I need to happen is as the user arrives at one of the sections or in that part of the timeline the mc's on that sections start playing and stoping once he/she leaves.
If there is a better way of doing this as well- feel free of telling me- Im use flash about once a year.
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.

I'm trying to make it so that when a user inputs the correct word an event happens. It almost works except that the event doesn't fire until the NEXT keystroke. Is there a way to test for the word AFTER the keystroke has become part of WriteInOneText.text, without adding a separate button or anything? Here's the code:
Of course the remove function is my pb, not done yet. How can I remove the same object from the array, knowing that the array can contain several times the same object, so I do not want to delete it many times but just the good one? So the trick is to remove only the object associated with the johndoe button. Maybe the pb comes from the way I push the elements?
I have buttons with id's button1, button2, button3, etc.
I have a for loop that i need to loop starting with a number and i need to enable buttons based on my loop. I need help taking my string button1 and making that the id "button1" so i can use the button property's.
how to get the charCode from the character but I cant seem to find out how to get the character from the charcode.
Basically I am I am listening for the KeyDown event on a TextInput.
I prevent the char from being typed via event.preventDefault();
Later I need to add the text-char to the TextInput.
I can get the charCode via event.charCode so if I can turn that into a string I can save it for later user.
Why I need it
Basically I am making a TextInput, that that I can set to display default text in it. When A user types into it, I want to remove the default text first then add the user typed text.
Currently I am either removing it all, or ending up with both.
I am making a drag and drop type of quiz. The text is loaded from an XML file. I am looking for a way to "detect" a blank in the text which represents the point in the sentence where a word needs to be filled in. And then that point needs to be represented by a movieclip or sprite or something that will hold text from the word that is dropped onto it (it will need to be draggable in case the user changes thier mind).
How do I get a word from a string?If a string is also an array I should be able to do it but so far no luck.Searching for a substring is useful if I know the correct index, like in[code]...
I have 5 links that exist as one large font and four small fonts. The large one dictates the current page and the smaller ones are links to other pages, which become the large font if they are clicked to dictate they are now the new page. When a link is small font link is clicked, it activates 3 tween animations for presentations sake, all dont in actionscript 2. The small font ._y is placed at the bottom of the page and swoops back up. The current large font ._y swoops down and, over this, the newly selected page large font swoops up to replace the previous large font.
I have tried specifying what the current page is in a new object variable so that is is remembered for when a new link (small font) is clicked. However, whenever a new function is started it seems to wipe out the current value of the object, so it cannot pass on what the current page is. Here is the code (I posted this earlier in the newbies section but think it's more suited to this forum, please delete the earlier post if necessary, sorry):
I'm building a word search game using the following AS3 code. My problem is I need to have spaces in my array of words, so that I can have things like states names, but I need the spaces removed before the words go into the puzzle.
The other concern is also that when a person selects a word from the puzzle will it still match the word in the list even though the word in the list still has a space.[code]...
I've read some documentation about regular expressions in AS3. I was wondering if it is possible to check every word of a string for a pattern. If all the words satisfy the pattern, the test is passed, otherwise is failed. [code]
The background of the png images is transparent but is not actually transparent if I load the png with transparent background and add into a sprite. The transparent part also can receive the mouse event so I wanna know how can I remove these pixels?
I'd like to build a cipher in AS2, and I was wondering if there's any way for me to search a string for a specific letter/word? Example: someTextBox.text = "Lorem ipsum"; Can I search inside of that string for an "m" and then subsequently alter that letter?

Code: var reg:RegExp = /[a-z]/i; var str1:String = "a b"; var str2:String = "a 1";
