Actionscript 2.0 :: Preloader For Externally Loading Swf Into A Movie Clip?
Mar 13, 2009
I have a main swf file in that i have an empty movie clip in which i want the external swf to load...i made buttons n i have given gotoAndPlay specific frame function for them and... wen it enters that specific frame i have given loadMovie function in actions layer for that specific frame... but i dont know how to make a preloader for that so that it loads the external swf..
I realize that title sounds a little confusing, but what I am trying to do is copy this style of site[url].... I have created all of the swf's for the main index of the site, but am way out of my league on how to load them into a certain position in a single movie clip so that a drag bar can slide the movie clip left and right. I have read a few posts on external loading, but am not really sure on how to implement them to achieve this look.
What's the proper way of loading an flv movie externally? I was doing a project in class which utilized tweenlite and loading of a couple videos externally in a folder. The swf worked fine and even the html looked fine, but once it was loaded into the schools server, the site didn't show. The professor is not really fond of actionscript, but she does have a grasp on HTML related issues. She told me it may have been a problem with the video loading file. This is the script I used to load the file in:
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect(null); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); ns.client = {};
Im have 5 swf files that I want to play one after another on my home page.
I would like to have the first movie load and play and while that is going on have the others downloading in the background so they are ready to start when the first movie finishes.
After the 5th and last movie has played I would like it then to return to the first movie and just loop this process continually.
I have attached what I have at the moment which is a file called demand.fla that uses buttons to load in demand001, demand002, deamd003 etc.
Ideally i would like demand to load in each slide automatically and then have flashmove onto the next one after 5 seconds or so.
I'm trying to apply CSS to text that is loaded from an external text file. Now, it works fine when I play it in the movie file "current.swf". Here is the code as it is-
Code: var format = new TextField.StyleSheet(); var path = "jbcss.css"; format.load(path); format.onLoad = function(success) { if (success) {
I have been approached to design a configurator for a new television product. The Application will let users specify the colours of certain parts of the product and also attach addons, which then updates a cost total.
In the main interface i have a looping animation of the product slowly rotating around 360 degrees that i rendered in 3ds max. When a user clicks a button on the interface i need to load an external movieclip on top of the main animation so it looks as though a certain part has changed colour, this i have acheived. The problem is that when i load the external clip over the original, the loaded clip starts playing from frame 1 and i need it to inherit the playhead position of the main animation so the two layered pieces look as though they are rotating as one. I'm sure this must be possible, unless i need to approach the problem in a different way?
I need an externally loaded mc (a listener) to execute a tween when another movie clip (a broadcaster) is pressed. So, when you press on mc1, mc2 executes a function. Sounds so simple. And I feel I almost cracked it. Now, I know the theory behind broadcasters and listeners, but my code simply doesn't work. I must be dumb since I couldn't figure it out from the senocular's tut on broadcasters and listeners.
To try to illustrate the problem more: listeners are a couple of arrows, left and right. They are movie clip buttons that work on the rewind principle. There's an externally loaded mc at the stage that executes its intro tween (nothing special), and when it stops I want it to start listening to the arrows. So, when on(release) on the arrow occurs, externally loaded mc executes it's outro tween, and at the end calls for the next externally loaded mc on the stage.
Now, to add another question; I have 6 externally loaded clips, called by the arrows. When the first and the last one are on the stage, I'd like to disable the previous, and the next buttons, respectively. I thought I'll just do arrow.enable = false in the first and the last clip.
I've been trying to load a movie clip from a movie clip that has been loaded. I am trying to provide a simple means to change the look / feel of the flash application by placing the graphics and controls into a second swf. Each different screen is represented by a different movie clip that is in the second swf. So I've got app.swf loading ui.swf. I want to load screen1_mc from ui.swf.
The app.swf is loaded by a master swf. There may be multiple copies of the app.swf that can be loaded by the master.swf and each app.swf could be configured differently. For each "unique" app.swf it is stored under a unique folder that is not known to me in advance. Since I don't know the unique folder in advance, I can't use import / export for runtime sharing. Is there any way to load the movie clips from the loaded movie clip? (Basically, I want to treat the ui.swf as an extension to the library.)
I'm working on a flash site and I'm having some trouble with the programming for it. I'm not so great at action script, so I'm hoping that my troubles are caused by my own stupidity and that some cool smart person will have an answer for me. So, I have a main menu flash file that functions like the one in this tutorial: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/p...transition.htm I set it to load various swf files and it's works just fine. What I want to do is have it load a swf that functions exactly the same (buttons that load external clips with transitions) as the main swf- this is a sub page menu. So, in theory, the sub menu page should load the final content, and three swfs would be seen stacked ontop of each other.
I changed the instance names in the sub menu file to be different than that in the main menu file. This fixed the original problem of it loading the content clip into the clip that the sub menu should stay in. Now, It loads the sub menu just fine, but then it gets stuck and never loads the content. The sub menu buttons will not function at all. Independent of the main menu, the sub menu file works perfectly What can I do??? Does it have anything to do with the "_root"? I never understood the concept, so I'm having trouble with it.
I want to add a preloader into an existing flash website file. The flash file is made of 5 layers, with one movie clip on each layer for each page of the website pages. I want to be able to put a preloader on the home page to let me viewers know that the site is not fully loaded before they start viewing the other pages (it's a portfolio site, so there are a lot of images). Can I add a preloader movie clip to appear on the home page that will loop until the entire site (all 5 frames/pages) are loaded?
I do not want to add another frame in front of the existing frames because I would have to edit 200+ portfolio frames and script.
Is there Actionscript 2 that can be put in a preloader and play only the first movie clip on the root timeline instead of all of the root's timeline (which happens using getBytesLoaded or movieclip._framesLoaded() )? I want the preloader to just load the first movie clip and let the user read this screen while the rest of the root timeline continues to download.
I am trying to use a preloader for a larger .swf file that loads inside of a movie clip. I was wondering what code might work and where to put it. (preloader is a .swf). I am using CS4, ActionScript 1.0.
For some reason the mc is not removed from the stage when my preloader is finished loading ...
function Preloader(event:ProgressEvent):void { var mc:preloader = new preloader(); var percent:Number=Math.round(event.bytesLoaded/event.bytesTotal*100); addChild(mc);
I have a rectange shape 'wty' that scales up in the y direction, and a movie clip 'wave_mc' that I am trying to keep on top of the rectange as it scales up. The rectangle scales properly but the movie clip is not moving in the y direction. The movie clip 'waves_mc' moves from 0 to -160. Here is the code I wrote for the preloader
I am looking for a preloader that will play a movie clip as it loads ie. as the preloader loads frames the relevant MC progresses until when the preloader hits 100% the MC finishes.
Is there a way to have a pre-loader based on a single movie clip, instead of on the entire SWF size? This movie clip may have a single graphic, but the entire movie has a slideshow with more images to display...but rather than making my visitor wait for the entire site to download before they see anything, I'd like to have it so when that graphic is loaded, it displays while the rest of the movie finishes loading. And there would be a preloader that shows the progression of the single movie clip.
I would like to make a preloader that has a movie clip playing. It's basically a looping movieclip. Also, I have an animation to play as the actual preloader.What would be the best way of going about this? I have basic actionscript skills but, i'm trying to learn a best practice to use while utilizing as3.
i would like to have a preloader run in a movie clip rather than in the main scene...http:[url]....i have followed this tutorial exact and it works when i create it on the main scene,but the loading bar and text doesnt work when i build it in a movie clip.
I have a preloader(as3) that is working great, I use FlashVars to pass it what movie it is loading, then it loads that movie, and shows it on the stage after loaded. I would like to make this a bit more dynamic. Right now I can use the same preloader for any movie so long as the movie and the preloader is the same size. I would like to pass the size of the movie im loading to the preloader with flashvars just like im passing it the file path for the movie itself. Here is how im passing the movie:
var swfLocation = this.loaderInfo.parameters.flashPath; var myRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(swfLocation);
now i just access the variable wherever i want to say load the movie
I tried:
var swfHeight = this.loaderInfo.parameters.flashHeight; var swfWidth = this.loaderInfo.parameters.flashWidth; stage.stageHeight = swfHeight; stage.stageWidth = swfWidth;
then in my flashvars i have a value of flashPath=<?=path?>&flashHeight=<?=height?>&flashW idth=<?=width?> (passing these to the embed and object using php btw)
I have created a very basic preloader using flash components 'Loader' and 'ProgressBar". It's job is to load an external swf movie clip/file.
Problem: When the preloader has finished doing it's 'thing', i.e. reaches 100%, it loads/or seeming reveals the external movie already underway i.e. not at the first frame.
I've read a few posts from "Whispers", and have concluded that the problem is that the movie is streaming whilst being loaded. And also that i need to be using "init" in regards to 'listener'.
However i really want to be able to apply this to the code i am using it, as i had just kinda gotten to grips with it (the code).
Is anyone able to tell me what a need to alter to get the preloader to finish loading the movie COMPLETELY before it starts to play.
i just wrote a radial preloader. i have a problem though: there seems to be some "residue". it is for a small gallery.. so when i test the loader using the bandwidth simulation, the first time it look perfect, but the second time, i can see part of the preloader from the first frame, and as soon as the preloader reaches the leftover region, that region is cleared.
At the moment, I am loading an external SWF file into my movie. The swf file contains a large FLV video... At the moment, I am using the code below, and the video is being loaded into a movie clip with the label "vid1"
_root.vid1.loadMovie("womanonbike4.swf");
The video loads fine. However, because it is such a large video, there is a delay. Can I PRELOAD the video during the main movie's Preloader?
So, my main movie starts, a preloader loads the entire main movie AND the external SWF file (womanonbike4.swf). Then, when the movie gets to the part of the main movie, where the external file is loaded, it will just play!
I've created a movie clip that contains several buttons that each load a separate movie clip when they are clicked. I would like to create a pre-loader for each of the separate movie clips because they will be rather large files when I finish adding content to them.
Below is the code I used to get the buttons load the movie clips. How to incorporate a pre-loader into this code
Code: //##### My Code var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); addChild(myLoader);//first, the loaded clip is added to the stage wl myLoader.x = 140;//then it is positioned
I'm writing a preloader to load external movie clips but my function doesn't seem to be working properly. I call the function and it says that 100% is loaded and makes the movie clip thats showing the out put invisible...thats what supposed to happen except for the going to 100% straight away. the percent is being calculated properly but i think that the function is being executed before the new movie even starts to load...i've tried movieClip.onData but it doesn't seem to work..
I have a looped sound and some components in my main movie (scroll bar) which for some reason is really bogging down my swf and causing the preloader bar not to show up until like 46% or something ridiculous.
So I am trying to solve the problem by having a preloader swf as suggested by Kode in this thread. However, now all my targeting is messed up in my main movie. Everything that was _root has to change but I can't tell what to load it into. I tried using _parent, _parent._parent, _root.container_mc (which is a blank movie clip created in the preloader swf that main is loaded into after the preloader is 100%) and others but nothing works. Even the simple looped sound which was originally just _root.backsound.start(0,999) can't be targeted. how to target things on my main stage based on the preloader swf?
I was wondering about the flexability of loading movies into a movie clip. Currently, I am well able to load one movie into a movie "loader" clip, but thought maybe there is a way to load additional movie clips into that same "loader" clip, as i am starting to accumulate several different graphics that i need to have be inside movie clips so that i can make them change colors on the same frame when needed.
i shot from the hip and tried this code, but didnt have any luck:
