I am looking for a preloader that will play a movie clip as it loads ie. as the preloader loads frames the relevant MC progresses until when the preloader hits 100% the MC finishes.

If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?

I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...

View 2 RepliesI want to add a preloader into an existing flash website file. The flash file is made of 5 layers, with one movie clip on each layer for each page of the website pages. I want to be able to put a preloader on the home page to let me viewers know that the site is not fully loaded before they start viewing the other pages (it's a portfolio site, so there are a lot of images). Can I add a preloader movie clip to appear on the home page that will loop until the entire site (all 5 frames/pages) are loaded?
I do not want to add another frame in front of the existing frames because I would have to edit 200+ portfolio frames and script.
I built a pretty simple Flash movie for a client and put a preloader on frame 1. The preloader works fine then the movie plays. What is happening is if you go to another page on the site and then go back to the home page all you see is the preloader bar fully loaded but the movie doesn't play. You have to refresh the page for the swf to play again. It is doing it to me in Firefox but not IE 8 and it is doing it in IE8 on my clients computer...

Here is a screen cap of what is happening. After you go back to the homepage all you see is the rpeloader bar fully loaded without the load text.
Is there Actionscript 2 that can be put in a preloader and play only the first movie clip on the root timeline instead of all of the root's timeline (which happens using getBytesLoaded or movieclip._framesLoaded() )? I want the preloader to just load the first movie clip and let the user
read this screen while the rest of the root timeline continues to download.
I am trying to use a preloader for a larger .swf file that loads inside of a movie clip. I was wondering what code might work and where to put it. (preloader is a .swf). I am using CS4, ActionScript 1.0.

I have a rectange shape 'wty' that scales up in the y direction, and a movie clip 'wave_mc' that I am trying to keep on top of the rectange as it scales up. The rectangle scales properly but the movie clip is not moving in the y direction. The movie clip 'waves_mc' moves from 0 to -160. Here is the code I wrote for the preloader

I have a flash banner that includes a movie clip of the logo being animated. I want the logo animation to only run at the beginning of the main "movie". Currently I have to find the length of the entire movie (for ex. 500 frames) then put a key frame in at the 500th frame of the logo movie clip. I know there has to be a correct way to do this...Do I add a frame name at the end of the main timeline and somehow in AS in the logo movie clip say "when you reach X goToAndPlay(1);"?
View 1 Repliesi'm trying to play several movie clips, one after the other from one main movie clip.i've got 8 movie clips, "m1.swf", "m2.swf", etc. "m8.swf", and one main movie clip, "play.swf".i've tried using loadMovie, but it only plays the last movie clip. this is what i've got. in the main movie clip, i've put a play button, and the actionscript i have in the button is:

I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

I'm trying to make a flash website that has clickable buttons that will play different movie clips. But I dont know how to make it to just play the movie clip with the button you click without playing all the movie clips on the main timeline.

This movie clip may have a single graphic, but the entire movie has a slideshow with more images to display...but rather than making my visitor wait for the entire site to download before they see anything, I'd like to have it so when that graphic is loaded, it displays while the rest of the movie finishes loading. And there would be a preloader that shows the progression of the single movie clip.

View 1 Repliesi just wrote a radial preloader. i have a problem though: there seems to be some "residue". it is for a small gallery.. so when i test the loader using the bandwidth simulation, the first time it look perfect, but the second time, i can see part of the preloader from the first frame, and as soon as the preloader reaches the leftover region, that region is cleared.

View 1 RepliesI have a looped sound and some components in my main movie (scroll bar) which for some reason is really bogging down my swf and causing the preloader bar not to show up until like 46% or something ridiculous.
So I am trying to solve the problem by having a preloader swf as suggested by Kode in this thread. However, now all my targeting is messed up in my main movie. Everything that was _root has to change but I can't tell what to load it into. I tried using _parent, _parent._parent, _root.container_mc (which is a blank movie clip created in the preloader swf that main is loaded into after the preloader is 100%) and others but nothing works. Even the simple looped sound which was originally just _root.backsound.start(0,999) can't be targeted. how to target things on my main stage based on the preloader swf?
i have created a preloader and am wanting it to only play through twice and then stop so i can have it getURL to and load the rest of my site but it just repeats constantly.

i have a collection of movie clips (mc0, mc1, mc2...etc etc), and when motion is detected on a webcam, one of these clips is shown on the stage.however, for some reason only mc0, mc1 and mc2 are being displayed,and i cannot get mc3, mc4 or any others to be chosen.

I want to play a short movie clip at the begining of this flash game. I'm not sure what is the best way to go about doing this. I was thinking to create the clip on its own seperate layers and then just move my action script keyframe that contains all the code for the game after all the frames needed for the clip to play. Or do i need to make it a seperate .fla and just import it, i'm not sure how to do it.

I have a movie with 2 movie clips on the stage, the first clip is triggered to play on a button click (which works fine) but I want the 2nd clip to start playing when the first ends. I've tried putting MovieClip2.gotoAndPlay(1) script on the last frame of MovieClip1 but I get "1120: Access of undefined property".
