Can someone please direct me to a good tutorial for beginners or explain the steps for creating a Flash website with an alternative html version. Do i create two sites? then use SWFobject to link them? I'm working with a purchased template that contains psd, html, css as well as the flash sources.
View 2 RepliesI have a full flash site which uses swfobject to embed it 100% height and width. I'm using swffit to force a browser scroll bar for pages with a large amount of content. This is all fine and works perfectly. I also have the content in HTML format, as alternative content and this also works apart from in order to get the flash swfobject to work I need to add the overflow = hidden in the CSS, like:

Currently, the facebook plugin is displayed briefly before the flash starts loading then it disappears after the page is loaded. What do I need to do for the plugin to display on the webpage in order to look like it is part of the flash site?[url]...
The green background of the facebook plugin and position is just temp for testing purposes until I can get this page to display properly.
I've tried all kinds of different ways to detect flash, and provide alternative content where the viewer doesn't have or doesn't want to download flash player. I want the viewer to see alternate static content on the same page if they don't have flash. I just can't seem to find the one definitive answer that works every time! I tried: [URL] but this seems to require installation of Adobe AIR which I have no idea what it is!

I know that it is possible to create a cross-broswer solution using Flash. Is there any open-source project that do that?
View 1 RepliesI have a site I have created for a client which features a flash header image, the only problem is he accessed a draft of the site on his iPhone and was put off by the fact it didn't display any of the head image as it was an iPhone (which as we know are not flash happy!). Also, I would need this anyway incase the visitor has flash turned off or uninstalled (I have provided the usual 'install flash' link when flash isn't displayed).Is there a way I can do this with just HTML/CSS or will I have to use JS or something similar?I have tried adding tags but this does nothing.

This might be a simple question, but I'll ask it anyways. I know when I update my flash website I have to clear the cache to view the changes. Now, will all users have to do that to see the new changes, or will the browser eventually detect changes and download the new version?

OKay I don't use actionscript and trying to y friend edit a flash website which the layout changes based on a xml feed from which is now defunk, the dev of this site has also left my friend (his client). We have create a flash file for both Touchscreen TV and Website.The document frame is is 1920x1080 however we would like to export the project so it can be seen on the website at the correct compression.Is there a way to export the SWF to the required 945x532.I know how to export it in the HTML however this reads the same SWF that is still too large in file size (not web friendly).I could pull the compression down to say 10% before exporting the SWF however there must be a better method.

View 2 RepliesI have built my personal webpage in Flash CS3/AS3. I did some updates today, changed some pictures and stuff. Now when I upload and replace the previous *.swf on the server, and try to load my webpage my browser displays the folowing message:
Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player. I tried exporting with Flas Player 8, and checked it using different bowsers too (curenntly I use the latest version of Firefox), but I get the same error when trying to relode my site. I have no more ideas what to do.
I am a experiencing an issue with loading of the haeader(flash) on the site I am currently working. Each browser behaves in a similar manner while not displaying flash animated header. I tried to save it as CS3, as CS4 alows me to do so and even that does not work.Details: I am using Dreamvewaver CS4 and Flash CS4 to build this site, could there be some type of an issue with DW4?
View 1 RepliesI am using the SWFObject and alternative content for a flash navigation. Unfortunately, if the viewer does have Flash installed, a white box appears before the nav appears. I am using a gif as a tiling background image for the nav, therefore the swf has a transparent background. Everything is good except for the second that the white box shows up.here's a bit of CSS and XHTML, but I have looked at this as well as the flash document, but I have been able to resolve the issue, and I'm out of ideas.

I have created a flash aplication and need to make a HTML version for people who dont have flash, I found this method on the internet [URL] but dont wish to use it as i dont want seperate pages and the delay caused by 2 loads and the time taken for the script to activate. Dreamweaver and my FTP program. I've just uploaded my website, but none of the Flash content is able to be viewed online. I'm developing a Flash application which is communicating with Javascript to allow more features such as custom html input etc., by placing an absolute positioned div on top of the flash application and controlling it's position etc. with Flash & Javascript.
Because these html elements have to appear above the flash content, I figured the following basic css would be enough to do the trick:

So, the htmlContent has a higher z-index than the flash content and thus it should be shown above it. Unfortunately, this only seems to work when you set the Flash object's "wmode" parameter to "transparent".
The problem with this setting is that it's seriousely decreasing the application's framerate to an unacceptable amount.
For static content this does not seem to be a problem, however for my application there's all kinds of elements that you can drag around which have to be moved real-time (while moving the mouse).
So, how do I enable html content on top of flash content without using the "transparent" wmode parameter or how do I optimize framerate when using the "transparent" wmode parameter?
