I'm sure this is probably something simple, but sometimes when I double click a button on the stage to enter its timeline, I don't get the up, over, down, hit, timeline. I just get a timeline that looks like a regular layer.

View 8 Replieswhat im doing is showing different photo sets on the same timeline for my site. so i thought i would have each photoset on a frame and each frame has the stop function on it to keep it from playing them all. so i have a button saying "set 1" and when you click that its supposed to play frame 5. code on the button:

(set one is on frame 7) but this doesnt work i dont get it. whats wrong? is there a better way to do this?

How do I link a button thats embedded in frame 2 (music page timeline) to a frame in the main timeline ( frame 3= biography page)? Both pages are on the same scene with link buttons embedded in each page independent timeline.
View 1 Replieswhat I need is to make my button display its over frame when I move the mouse over it. I can do it using onClipEvent(.....) { fine, but I cant use that... I think. The code I am using is in frame 1 of the timeline and is this:

As soon as I make the button have a function when pressed, it doesn't show the over frame. I'll attach my fla so you can see it, but I would like a solution that allows me to use the above code and no code on the actual button movieclip because it wont be there until I insert it later during runtime.
I created a class in actionscritpt that extends the spark.components.Button, as I will be loading a bunch of buttons at runtime. I have a SkinnableContainer.mxml file that the spark buttons will be loaded into.When I use the addElement() method within that mxml file like so my custom skin for my button does not show.

I have the following code all seems to work ok, but the Hand Cursor does not display on roll over/hover to enable the viewer to see that its a link, please let me know what I am doing wrong(pleanty prob), first big thing I have doen in AS3. Also using CS4.

You can see that there are simple roll overs for the header (this is the middle part with the photo on it and the buttons on the right); you rollOver one and the photo changes.Never one to leave well-enough alone, the boss wants to add this wrench to the works:He's not sure that people will "get" that you can hover over the buttons and will never get to see the photo and message change. So he wants the photo/message to kind of rotate through on a loop, then have it so you can override the rotation by rollingOver the button. Ok, no problem.BUT I would like the button's rollOver effect to be seen with the cooresponding photo/message. This is what I can't figure out, without trying something hacky.
View 2 RepliesI really dont get whats going on here in the code.... It looks fine and even trace the values that i need but it just does not work. In overall, i have an Empty MC which is populated with 8 thumb via a for loop each time i click the next button. When i press next it must go forward and show the next set of thumb of the xml file which have been loaded into a variable at very first.
The previous button works opnly when i am on the 2 nd set of thumbs but as soon as i am on the 3 or 4rth set then its a mess. the function does populate my array but does not show them... it says undefined
I am working with Flash CS5 (AS3) on an iMAC running 10.6.8, My problem is, when I test my Flash file in Flash, the button rollovers change the cursor from the arrow to the hand. When I publish the file as SWF and HTML, the cursor only changes in the SWF file, not the HTML. People know that there is a button there if it doesn't change. Has any one run into this issue before, if so, how can I correct this issue?
View 1 RepliesI have a introduction page with a video background, and a button that sends the user to another page.I just have one problem, and that's when you see the page online, for a slit of a second, you just see the button on a black background before the video is loaded and starts playing. I created a MovieClip and added it to the stage(addChild). Next, I created a Button (exactly BaseButton) and I added it to the MovieClip.The case is it won't show up. When I add directly my button to the stage (my Main class is document class ) there is no problem. I have a button, and inside the button, i have a dynamic text field that i want to display a global variable in the "over" frame. (when the mouse goes over the button)
Normally, to make a dynamic text field show a global variable, I put the dynamic text box INSIDE a movie clip, and then define the variable in the movie clip.
For example, i would put this into the movie clip containing the dynamic text box:

the problem is that when i click on the first button loads ok but when click on second still showing the first movie clip in the back ,,,,, i have try everything without luck ,,,, i guess i need to keep reading but will like to find an answer to this situation ,
I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code

View 2 RepliesI have used the actions panel to write a stop code on frame one of my timeline.When I test my movie it stays on the home page, which is good! I have also created an 'enter site' button on the home page. I want to click this button and have the timeline start rolling over to frame 50 (where my next label 'contents' will be). At frame 50 I want it to stop, and so on for all of my labels/pages. The action taking place on the timeline is a pan across a panoramic photograph, which will stop at different points.

So if I was on the "about" page, the "about" link in the navigation would be highlighted red, for example.I'm trying to do the same thing with a button in Flash. When a user clicks the button ("on(release)"), it will take them to another frame in the timeline, and, the look of the button will change to let the user know they are currently on that frame. I thought I could do this by adding a keyframe at the destination frame, then going into the button and changing the "up" frame. Sadly, that doesn't work, as it changes the "up" frame for the button everywhere.

I have everything working fine but I have been asked that the url's are loaded from a xml file instead of static. Not quite sure where to go from here..I've read how to read from xml but do I need to set the values in global variables?
I am trying to just have a Pause button appear in frame 620 of my timeline and users can click this to pause the timeline if they want to slow down and read my text. However, with the below code, I get an error message of:

I have a huge timeline with photos, each photo on a different frame, and several buttons, one for each picture on the first frame. My idea is to make a unique action for the buttons that tells the timeline to go to the frame number that is the same as the button instance name.

I am doing a postcard flip and would like to rewind my timeline when a button is released. I tried to modify the complexbutton but didn't really get the effect that I was after.
What I am trying to do 1) when the movie opens, I have an arrow to the right, what I want to happen is, when it is clicked, the movie plays and stops at the last frame, easy enough.
2)When the movie is on the last frame there is another button, and when that one is clicked, I want thee movie to reverse. It can't be that hard, can it?

I am creating a website for a company through my school, and on the navigation bar there are 6 buttons. When you first load the website you are brought to the "home page". When you click on any other button though, the lower half of the website changes.
My problem is this: I have it scripted so as soon as you click on a button, the next movie or content section loads immediately after you click it. Is there some way of me storing the name of the movie somewhere, and then loading it at the END of the animation? Say on the last frame of the animation?
How I can get the complex button, when pressed to goto a certain frame of the main timeline and not the complex button timeline. Right now I have it set when press and release gotoandplay(2)... but it plays the button timeline and not the main timeline:
