I am creating a quiz using the quiz template in Flash. I was wondering if it is possible to replace the shape of nextBtn with some other picture/drawing? nextBtn is the button you click on to go to the next question. I tried "Swap symbol" but then I lose all the code attached to the original button (movie).

View 2 RepliesI am customising a Template Monster template that has a flash menu.When I changed the getURL code (using AS2) of my flash menu buttons they work for an external URL but do nothing in my site. EG.THIS WORKSgetURL("index.html");THIS DOESNTI have everything in the same root folder and the animated menu bar works perfectly in-situ, just wont go from page to page.

The 5 menu names are inside the same movie clip called Menu01. however its the same movie clip in each place of each menu so when i go to edit in place each menu comes up with home. Yet when i play the file they all come up with what there suppose to?

I have a website template that allows full customization and has 4 flashing text buttons on the header. Everything has been working flawlessly until this....When I go to change the text for any one of the text buttons it changes the text in all of the other text buttons regardless of what I do.
View 13 RepliesI am new to Flash and was trying to start a website for my photography business. I have an up and running version of Flash Pro CS4 with all updates. I purchased a full flash template from [URL] hoping to just open the .fla file and go to work editing. No such luck. When I click on the main.fla file, all the components seem to load in the library, however in the timeline, I only show like 9 random layers. When I run the timeline, all I get is a bunch of lines, squares, etc running on and off the stage. When I click "publish" the layers and components run fine with all the default content. The template came in a ZIP file and after extracting, I get the usual files, .fla, .html, .XML, .SWA, etc. All the components seem to be in the .fla file. What am I missing? I know there should be more layers in the timeline, but I cant find them. My troubleshooting has been to confirm that the template is good with CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. I've tried different settings to include changing the pixel size, but nothing.

I have a program, that when running, allows me to paint random color squares on mouse click. I added a button, that is supposed to be able to change the shape being painted from rectangle to circle. I can't seem to get that button to work. This is what my code looks like so far.

Imagine you have a chessboard type setup, made of separate squares. Each square is clickable, therefore, it can change colour, something can happen etc.... what I need is to be able to create a new sprite / movieclip / shape, that will appear over the square I have just clicked. If you click the next sqaure, this new movieclip / shape will change colour and cover the two sqaures I just clicked.
To summarise, this new shape is created whenever a square is clicked. The shape gets bigger and covers which ever square is clicked. Think of something like a slime-monster getting bigger and covering the squares which are clicked.

View 2 RepliesI am looking to create the appearance of a shape being drawn. I need a few shapes, but for the example think of a simple U. I have tried several different approaches. First, I tried a shape tween at 45 degree increments. That was a wrong approach. Then I tried using After Effects, but the movies lacked flexibility and were laggy. Currently I am building the shapes using two shape tween MCs(an arc that goes 11.25 degrees and a line that goes 21px), and repeating it.
This seems to be working, but is very tedious, and lacks flexibility. i.e. if I decided I want the shape just a bit shorter I have to remove the MC incident from every frame. Also I have no possiblity of changing the speed without completely rebuilding the shape becasue I'm doing a frame by frame animation.
If you make multiple flash files from the same template and then edit that template, will all those files have those same changes? If not, is there a way to make the same change on multiple files at once? Basically the same idea as linking HTML files to a single CSS file...

Go into project explorer and can't see much AS so how the hwll are they getting the images and text into the flash swf. By the html??? I don't think so.

I am writing a module and I have a section in this flash file where a quiz comes up and if you don't click on the right answer it tells you to try again. If you click on the right answer it will load the next swf file. But I can't get this last part to work. The quiz is within an xml file.

So where it says "if(correct) {" on the bottom, I want the file this file to go to the next swf file not say "Correct!".

View 4 RepliesHow I can make a simple personality quiz in Flash? I've been searching for months for quiz/test codes, tutorials, examples, etc...but I can't find one that would work for a quiz with no "right" or "wrong" answer.
Basically what I want to do is have the user click on statements that they agree with, or answer questions that would lead to one of two possible results.
I want to create another button on the main menu of my flash site. I want to take one of the existing buttons (which are set as movie clips) and modify it to show a different menu name and page link. BUT when I go into my library and "duplicate" my movie clip, change the instance name, drag it to the stage and attempt to modify it, the original changes as well. I need to keep the original the same and create a new one with the same code, frames, etc but with different static text. I keep going in circles
