FLV File Downloads Despite Autoplay=false

I have a webpage with a video component (swf file) with a separate .flv file and skin. The .flv file is intended to progressively load from the webserver.
In the swf file I have set autoplay=false to stop the move playing when the page is loaded. This works fine.
However, the problem is that the movie still downloads in the background. i.e. Each time the page is loaded, the .flv file is being loaded.
Is there a way to stop the .flv file being loaded until the Play button is pressed in the player?

I have set up a progress bar file that in which i have imported my .swf file. Is there a way I can start playing the flash movie before it is fully downloaded. Not sure if this is a buffering or streaming question. Lets say it starts playing when it's downloaded at least 50% of it.
I've looked up and tried several ways, but i think i am confusing myself more then helping.

I'm doing a site that needs to download an mp3 sample clip from the serverwhen a text link is clicked. The whole site is in Flash and am using MX. Tried the getURL > didn't work. Saw a tutorial here but that oneplays the mp3 file right away. I want the user to be able to save the fileto their hard disk and play it from there.

i understand that you have to have a .zip file usually to force a browser to download the file using the getURL command to the URL of the .zip file. But when i have a link in a pop-up page, it just gives me a error 404 page
so far the AS looks like this

I have an application built with AutoPlay Media Studio which needs to be able to communicate with an embedded .swf, built in Flash CS3 with AS3. The APMS application needs to send a filename to the embedded flash. I've tried using flashvars but these don't seem to work from the APMS app. I've previously written the info to a text file in the app's folder so that both the APMS and the flash have a set relative path to the file. Now I'm tasked with making this work on a write-protected device, and I'm stumped as to where I could place the file and still be able to find it from the flash.
My first thought was the user's temp folder, but from another question I don't seem able to find that path from the flash. Where else could I put it and still have permission to write to it even if the user is not logged in as an administrator? The path needs also be in the same place on Win XP, Vista and 7.

is there a simple way to just pull back a true or false value from an associated javascript file to a flash file? here is what i have:

check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.

I am trying to display database details in a Flex datagrid and connected using HTTP Service. It was able to display details without any issue when I was working in the FlashBuilder 4.5, however, I deployed the bin-debug part in the Tomcat webserver to access it globally.

I have a flash application that plays .mp3 files. I use the Sound object and the .loadSound method. It is quite easy for someone to download the mp3 files from say a plugin for Firefox called DownloadHelper, or using the Safari Activity window. Is there a way to protect against this?

I am trying to setup a way to sell my music downloads through paypal with a "name your price" method.I want to use a textinput component. If the person types 0 (zero), it will take them to the DOWNLOAD PAGE. I'm on a laptop and for the past day or so I downloaded adobe flash about 10 times and it doesnt seem to work. whenever I try to watch something or have a flash ad on a website, I get a message that says "install missing plugins". I click on it, and it takes me to the flash download page but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this, but it says by the installation instructions that I would need to press "run", I only have an option to save the file.

We have FMS interactive configured to do RTMP and HLS streaming. However the clips still can be downloaded through [URL]..Is there a way to disable progressive downloads? While at it is there a way to disable HDS also? I want to allow HLS and RTMP only.

I am using mcl ( moviecliploader ) class to download images for a photo book;
when a user mouseover's a thumbnail, the corresponding fullsize img is downloaded;
PROBLEM: 1 - a user can move their mouse quickly over many thumbs;
2 - mcl class doesn't seem to have a way to stop downloading
3 - therefore it is realistic that the mcl could be forced to download 10-15 images simultaneously
4 - possibly the thumb that the user actually wants is last in the que;

Anyways I have my main page that has a picture on it, then if you hover your mouse over the right edge of this image a tranparent window pops up with scrolling pictures that move in the direction of your mouse movement.
How can I have this scroll bar stay on always? I am looking thru the code but cant figure out exactly what code to put where to have this popup open when this page opens.
