Windows :: Writable File Location / Communication AutoPlay Media Studio ?

Mar 17, 2010

I have an application built with AutoPlay Media Studio which needs to be able to communicate with an embedded .swf, built in Flash CS3 with AS3. The APMS application needs to send a filename to the embedded flash. I've tried using flashvars but these don't seem to work from the APMS app. I've previously written the info to a text file in the app's folder so that both the APMS and the flash have a set relative path to the file. Now I'm tasked with making this work on a write-protected device, and I'm stumped as to where I could place the file and still be able to find it from the flash.

My first thought was the user's temp folder, but from another question I don't seem able to find that path from the flash. Where else could I put it and still have permission to write to it even if the user is not logged in as an administrator? The path needs also be in the same place on Win XP, Vista and 7.

Code: fileObject.copyTo("store/"+name+".flv") store is a virtual directory defined in Application.xml file in the server side and name is a variable that stores the fileName without extension This was working fine with FMS 3 and FMS 3.5. Now, I moved to FMS 4 and noticed that this copyTo() function is not working. In the FMS Admin Console, it throws an error:Error: File operation copyTo failed.

I need an .swf file in one browser to tell another .swf file to start at a particular frame when it loads. Once the index.html loads the index.swf file, 5 buttons will appear. Each of those buttons need code on them that loads the gallery.html in the same window and initiates the gallery.swf file at a particular frame, which will be relevant to the button clicked.

Windows :: Embed Windows Media Player In Flex?

Aug 24, 2010

I have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.

As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player

Aug 5, 2005

I click the "studio" button. The problem is when i click the "studio" button, the text box fills with "studio_txt" instead of "our studio." So I need to know how to get the text box to read _root.txtVar as a variable rather than a string, I think.

FLV File Downloads Despite Autoplay=false

Nov 3, 2009

I have a webpage with a video component (swf file) with a separate .flv file and skin.  The .flv file is intended to progressively load from the webserver.

In the swf file I have set autoplay=false to stop the move playing when the page is loaded.  This works fine.

However, the problem is that the movie still downloads in the background.  i.e. Each time the page is loaded, the .flv file is being loaded.

Is there a way to stop the .flv file being loaded until the Play button is pressed in the player?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Writable Calendar Schedule And Save

Nov 27, 2011

I'm trying to make this calendar thing where you can write your schedule in it and it will save it. The part I'm kind of stuck at (and I figure I should sort this part out before getting much further) is that I need it to identify which day it is you're clicking on.

I'm thinking if I can get flash to write a txt file (like with xml or something) that says what box your clicking on, then I can get it to display that txt file in the dynamic text that says "Day" over your schedule. Then anytime you enter something into the schedule it will name it after that dynamic text and the time. Eventually I'll have to have a "back" button that will take you back to the main calendar. I'm thinking I can make this button delete the txt file that said which day you clicked on so that there's no confusion....Or I could make it that when you click on a day it will delete any pre-existing txt files that say which day you clicked on. (Not your actual schedule txt files.)

And then of course I'll have to make it so that any time you click on a day and get the dynamic text "Day" it will display all the text associated with that day. So does anyone know how I would do this? I need to know what actionscript I can use that will export a txt file depending on what square/day you click on. And I also need to know what actionscript will delete the txt file when I need it. (Wow, I hope the paragraphs above make sense!) I've included my flash file.

SWF Loop In Windows Media Player?

Feb 7, 2009

I am using Windows 10 media Player SDK and embedded windows media player into my application ( a typical video player with additional functions). In order to play flash files in Windows Media Player, I have the following patch / plugins installed on the same computer

1. Adobe flash player 10

2. Media Player 10

3. ffdshow-rev2265_20081028_clsid.exe

4. osflvsplitter.1.0.0.4_nt.exe

The application typically downloads a xml file (play list) from the designated server and then downloads the list of media available in that list.On successful downloading of the media files, which includes MOV, WMA, DIVX and SWF files, the player is expected to play the playlist continuously and each file once (one after the other). So, my player plays first file - abc.mov, then second file xyz.wma and then the third file klm.swf... and here it stops! It won't go further. The SWF file loops continuously.I have stop() in the last frame of the SWF file though.I am not able to move the player ahead playing other files.

Media Server :: How To Stream Files From Default Location

Feb 26, 2010

According to flashmediaserver_3.5_config_admin.pdf (FMS 3.5.3), FMS determines the correct directory to use for streams in the following order:
Virtual directory (as specified in <VirtualDirectory>)
Storage directory (as specified in <storageDir>)
Default location (the streams folder in the application directory)

So I created a folder called streams in C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5applicationsvod. I thought this folder would be the default location for the sample application vod. I did not change any configuration settings for the application vod. Everything was set by the FMS 3.5.3 installer. I copied sample.flv into C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5applicationsvodstreams and renamed it to sample6.flv.
rtmp://{fms ip}/vod/sample6.flv d
Did not play in the sample video player installed by FMS 3.5.3. Is this a bug or the default location "streams" folder is simply not "default", you have to set it somewhere in XML?
