Professional :: Windows Media Player Cannot Play The File?
Jul 11, 2011
I'm working on a project that I want to export as a .avi file. I'm using Flash 8. I can go through the steps of exporting the movie fine, but once I try to play it in Windows Media Player, I get this error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
I've tried playing it in VLC and DIVX player as well I got similar error messages. This is a time sensative project,
Can I convert a Flash file to Quicktime or Windows Media Player? If so....how? (Also, is swf the only file format on Flash?) I've been reading I need to download some converter to do this.
I have received a CD Rom with an .exe file on it. I only have an old Windows XP box (from 2001) but it doesn't play on it Is that possible? Do I need to find a vista box?houldn't these flash exe files be XP compatible? Sorry we only have Macs here so I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to Windows machines.ed some light on this or confirm before I request another disc or purchase a vista CD ROM?
I have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I am using Windows 10 media Player SDK and embedded windows media player into my application ( a typical video player with additional functions). In order to play flash files in Windows Media Player, I have the following patch / plugins installed on the same computer
1. Adobe flash player 10
2. Media Player 10
3. ffdshow-rev2265_20081028_clsid.exe
4. osflvsplitter.1.0.0.4_nt.exe
The application typically downloads a xml file (play list) from the designated server and then downloads the list of media available in that list.On successful downloading of the media files, which includes MOV, WMA, DIVX and SWF files, the player is expected to play the playlist continuously and each file once (one after the other). So, my player plays first file - abc.mov, then second file xyz.wma and then the third file klm.swf... and here it stops! It won't go further. The SWF file loops continuously.I have stop() in the last frame of the SWF file though.I am not able to move the player ahead playing other files.
Just installed Windows 7 RC (7100), and got the latest Flash player for IE8 and Opera. My site [URL] has a music player I created that plays (streams) MP3s from a Flash Comm Server I run. The player works fine with Flash Player version 10.0.22.87 on other platforms, but not in Windows 7. Once you pick a song, it should start immediately. Even clicking the play button doesn't work. The symptoms make me think there's a problem establishing the netconnection for streaming. I've read Microsoft added streaming of some kind in Windows Media Player for Windows 7, could it be interfering?
I just updated to CS5 - I'm working on a custom video player. It works fine embedded in a web page both locally and on the network. It works fine in the debug player. However, when I test it in the authoring player I get a NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound error and no video. I have tried setting the Local Playback Security publish settings to both local and network - doesn't find the video either way.
It used to run fine in CS4 in the authoring environment.
I'm trying to make Windows Media Player style controls into my movie. I know how to do stop, play, and pause already, but I don't know how to do the progress bar. I tried searching in the actionscript help menu. I couldn't find any actions that retrieve total frames in the movie and current frame number.
I work in the art department of a documentary series and I have a Dell Iinspiron 3200 running Windows 98 (with Flashplayer 9) that I need to use to run animations that I made on a seperate machine running CS5. How should I publish them so that they can be played on the laptop? When I bring the files over, they are recognized as flash applications (the icon is right) but trying to play them results in two errors: "(directory) file expects a newer version of windows. Upgrade your Windows version" and "(directory) a device attached to the system is not functioning" I have tried publishing as version 9, but the fies still won't run, and examining the properties of them reveals a file version of 10.1.
I would like to completely disable the soundin Adobes Flash-Player in case of "nerving"Websites. Is there a way to disable the soundin Flash-Player, but without disabling the sound in
I have problems with flash games and some advanced flash applications.Problems occurs regardless of browser. My computer is next:CPU: 2.8GHz hyper threadRAM: 1.5 GB (3 pieces)GPU: Nvidia 7600 GS Gigabyte. When it runs some flash game e.g. Facebook Pet Society, CPU load goes high as 80 to 100 %. It is very annoying thing since I am starting to loose my mind how to solve this. All other applications are running very good. This means games, 720p HD videos etc etc.
I have an application built with AutoPlay Media Studio which needs to be able to communicate with an embedded .swf, built in Flash CS3 with AS3. The APMS application needs to send a filename to the embedded flash. I've tried using flashvars but these don't seem to work from the APMS app. I've previously written the info to a text file in the app's folder so that both the APMS and the flash have a set relative path to the file. Now I'm tasked with making this work on a write-protected device, and I'm stumped as to where I could place the file and still be able to find it from the flash.
My first thought was the user's temp folder, but from another question I don't seem able to find that path from the flash. Where else could I put it and still have permission to write to it even if the user is not logged in as an administrator? The path needs also be in the same place on Win XP, Vista and 7.
I would like to show the live TV video on Flash player from my TV tunner. Is it possible to do it without FMS like using Webcam?
It will not be running on the internet/network and only for a computer that have TV tunner. (Ideally: open a swf and you can watch a TV tunner by flash player). But i cannot find any information if i can do it without FMS.
I've setup a simple DVR player using the DVRCast application and Adobe FLVPlayback 2.5 from Adobe tools. I'm able to use it to play a recorded live stream which is recorded by Flash Media Live Encoder.
I'm wandering if I can now use the DVR player to play a video within the vod application?
To start with I just want to copy the f4v file created by Live Encoder to the vod directory and then use the DVR player to play it.
I made a game as the same site URL..Anyone knows how to prevent user open and play game on multiple browser windows at a time?I used flash control to embed flash into aspx page and connect to sql server
Probably this feature is in the next generation of FMS 4.5 However, it is said this can be achieved with some manipulation of files with current FMS. Can we do a 2-way live video session.
UserA(in webpage flashplayerV11 beta: encode using H264) -> Flash Media Server -> UserB at iPhone(either HTML5 or others to play the live video in RTMP/RTMFP)
Next step will be the reverse:UserA(in webpage flashplayerV11 beta: decode using H264) <- Flash Media Server <- UserB at iPhone(either HTML5 or others to publish the live video in RTMP/ RTMFP)Better to use UDP based.Seems the HTTP live streaming incurs huge delay 4-8sec; not really working for live video chat sessions.. So how Skype handle this on iOS? with its own encoding/decoding?
is it possible to play video stream from non-adobe(or homebrew server), in the newest flash player(10).It looks like the VideoPlayer only plays the stream from FMS? Is it the business model of Adobe?
ok im having some trouble importing video files.files such as "windows media audio/video" file , import fine but everything else, it just imports the last like 9 frames.
ive only had this problem after i switched to my new computer, which is WINDOWS XP, and before it was WINDOWS 98. not sure if that has to do with it.
I've built a presentation that requires the need to open pdf files in Acrobat Reader... as I have been building this on a Mac I simply used the geturl code which has been working a treat... today when I tested it on a PC it opened the file in a browser window!
I'm not really a coder and have to rely on finding bits online that I can tweak... after many hours I have fixed the pdf opening problem by using the fscommand method, but unfortunately when the pdf file is closed, my presentation (that was running fullscreen) has minimised itself to a window 100% to the original stage size!
Beside Flash Media Encoder, can I use a live stream from Windows Media Services? We have live streaming with Windows Media Server, but now want also offer to mobile devices, but we dont re-encode the entire streams (tvs) again, it would be great if we can use a stream from windows to tunnel it to flash media server.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below. My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference(); private function onClick():void { fileReference = new FileReference(); fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);
The player is meant to retrieve the mp3 file from the server through the path address that is stored in MySQL. It does this in Explorer but not in Firefox. By the way the swf file of the player and the database is stored on the same server so there should be no problem with that.
I have created an online streaming radio on Shoutcast website, now I want to add this radio player in my website to let user listen to my radio while browsing the website, I have no problem with that, but I want to add some extra features to my flash player as following :
1- Show Song Name 2- Show Singer name 3- Show Previous Song Name 4- Show Next Song Name 5- Show Singer Photo
I have a folder of sales training lessons (flvs) and I want to play each one of them by clicking a button and to have each one use a common playback control. When I us the follwing code I get a "1120: access of undefined property error".
stop(); function playAud1(evt:MouseEvent):void { player.source = "audio/The_Profession_Called_Selling.flv";}seg1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playAud1);
