I have received a CD Rom with an .exe file on it. I only have an old Windows XP box (from 2001) but it doesn't play on it Is that possible? Do I need to find a vista box?houldn't these flash exe files be XP compatible? Sorry we only have Macs here so I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to Windows machines.ed some light on this or confirm before I request another disc or purchase a vista CD ROM?
View 6 RepliesI'm working on a project that I want to export as a .avi file. I'm using Flash 8. I can go through the steps of exporting the movie fine, but once I try to play it in Windows Media Player, I get this error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

View 5 RepliesI just updated to CS5 - I'm working on a custom video player. It works fine embedded in a web page both locally and on the network. It works fine in the debug player. However, when I test it in the authoring player I get a NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound error and no video. I have tried setting the Local Playback Security publish settings to both local and network - doesn't find the video either way.
It used to run fine in CS4 in the authoring environment.

View 4 RepliesI work in the art department of a documentary series and I have a Dell Iinspiron 3200 running Windows 98 (with Flashplayer 9) that I need to use to run animations that I made on a seperate machine running CS5. How should I publish them so that they can be played on the laptop? When I bring the files over, they are recognized as flash applications (the icon is right) but trying to play them results in two errors: "(directory) file expects a newer version of windows. Upgrade your Windows version" and "(directory) a device attached to the system is not functioning" I have tried publishing as version 9, but the fies still won't run, and examining the properties of them reveals a file version of 10.1.

I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
After I updated Adobe flash player I noticed that videos I streamed did not play correctly.A video will begin to play but part way through it will freeze. It will indicate that it is buffering but it never finishes buffering and never continues to play, even if I refresh it.This occurs for several sites such as youtube, megavideo, and wisevid. This occurs for every browser I have tried (Firefox, IE, and Opera.) I also realized today that now iTunes cannot not download video either. When I try it says that parts of the files seem to be corrupted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash several times but that has not helped. View 1 RepliesIve imported an FLV into a Project. Some computers wont play the video back if the Flash Player is set to Full Screen. The screen goes black during Full Screen. If you set the player to regular, you can see the video playing (embedded into design) but once you set player to Full Screen the video plays on its own right at centre of screen. Im working on a Touch Screen Display that has the display set to Portrait mode. Im investigating if the display card is causing the problem.

Just installed Windows 7 RC (7100), and got the latest Flash player for IE8 and Opera. My site [URL] has a music player I created that plays (streams) MP3s from a Flash Comm Server I run. The player works fine with Flash Player version 10.0.22.87 on other platforms, but not in Windows 7. Once you pick a song, it should start immediately. Even clicking the play button doesn't work. The symptoms make me think there's a problem establishing the netconnection for streaming. Wondering if anyone else has Windows 7 specific problems with Flash player?

The embedding is done (I presume) in much the same way that IE embeds flash object (e.g. using a COM object which maps back to Flash10c.ocx)We are testing our application on Windows 7 RC 64-bit edition but the .NET application is unable to instantiate the Flash control, raising a "Class not Registered" error. Although the OS is 64-bit, the .NET app and Flash object are 32-bit and should work together without problems. I have confirmed that the IE browser (32-bit version) on the Windows 7 (x64) does indeed instantiate Flash files OK.

I have a ActiveX control hosting a flash-player which is in turn running a flash file trying to access data from a web-address.
In an old Windows Application version of my application everything works fine and the flash file is able to access the web-content.
However, in a newer Console Appliction version of the application it can no longer access the web-content.
Is there some kind of difference between a Windows Application and a Console application in terms of security/permissions that might affect an ActiveX hosted flash-player?
my initiall 30 day trial of flash cs4 loaded but would not uninstall after the 30 days. eventually i just erased the folder in fruo worstration.later downloaded cs4 web premium package but setup.exe wouldnt work on it. redownloaded flash cs4 bout setup.exe didnt work. i get the swriling icon for a few seconds then it disappears and nothing happens. i notice it stilll running in the task manager hours later, but doesnt do anything.

I've read Microsoft added streaming of some kind in Windows Media Player for Windows 7, could it be interfering?
I have been trying to experiment with Flash's support for multilanguage documents. However, whatever locale I set in Regional and Language Options on Windows XP the swf file always assumes an "en" locale. I simplified the document down to:import flash.system.Capabilities;trace(flash.system.Capabilities.language);And this also always gives "en".I read somewhere (not in Adobe's documentation!) that Capabilities.language gives the language of the Flash player. Is this correct? If so, is there anyway of retrieving the locale that is set in Regional and Language Options?

Has anybody had Flash player debuuger suddenly stop working for no reason whatsoever. What I've found so far: - No exception screens popping up.. in ANY browser. Reinstalled debugger version of flash player, no go. - Flashbug not showing in Firebug - No trace calls visible in FlashDevelop - Flash IDE behaves normal.. all trace calls visible - Firefox updated about the same time but problem seems to be on a wider scale This started approximately, on Sunday 8th Januray (or saturday).
